If Wendy is the Queen, then that makes Magnus the....
ReplyDeletejoker?
It makes me nothing.
ReplyDeleteHere is my article about the episode.
ReplyDeleteListened to the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteAs a fortunate attendee, Chuckfest3 was fantastic. No one is exaggerating about how well this thing was planned and executed. Seeing the episode with a group of fans responding to the same jokes was a great experience.
I have been involved in other fandoms and no one has ever had an event nearly as great as Chuckfest.
In regards to the episode, I'm glad Magnus mentioned the "wondering" of why Chuck is so competent now at hand-to-hand combat. I've been wondering myself if we are supposed to be questioning it or if they just want us to assume he's been working out as the jogging scene last week hinted.
But, there's supposed to be a big difference between intersect fighting skills and someone who has shown to be not very good in the past but has been training for a few months at most.
It is a curious thing... are they brilliantly setting up something to come, or is it just super lazy writing?
ReplyDeleteThat IS the question.
ReplyDeleteThe other thing I am wondering about in regards to Chuck's hand-to-hand skills if it's also a set up for Chuck making a decision on whether or not to take the Intersect back at some point later in the season. If he feels he is a competent enough spy without the Intersect then he might choose not to re-Intersect unless there is some greater circumstance. It's definitely curious though where they are going with it-whether they didn't want to deal with a helpless Chuck or if there is some bigger story-arc purpose.
ReplyDelete@OldPandaDayz why shouldn't Chuck re upload the intersect?
ReplyDeletewithout any doubt Chuck is a more competent spy with the intersect and since he is a suited recipient(the intersect doesn't have side effects on him like it had on the Gretas and others) why should he "choose not to re-Intersect"? to make things harder for his company and spy team? : )
He doesn't need the Intersect. It's like taking steroids. It should be more difficult. Just exercise, lazy boy.
ReplyDeleteI never said he needs the intersect i said he is a better spy with the intersect and since he has no side effects from it why shouldn't he use it?
ReplyDeleteAnd there are things that he can do with the intersect(like Morgan dodging darts Matrix style or flashing on bad guys and getting intel) with all the training in the world Chuck couldn't do
ZZzzzzzZZzzzz.
ReplyDeletethank you magnus and crew for your insights and charity efforts these past few years. you are light years beyond awesome.
ReplyDeleteAww shucks... me no know how to handle compliments!
ReplyDeleteepisode 3 was good.
ReplyDeleteDid NBC or Warner brothers only send out the first three episodes to certain people or have you seen the fourth already?
It looked interesting in the promos.
@AdriaN`S Chuck has had side effects from it, he's just handled them better- i.e. last season when he was able to reboot without the Governor. Also, I was thinking of Ellie's statement from the first episode, about how Chuck's dad might not have intended for him, or anyone, to have the Intersect long term. Also, as we saw at the end of this episode and throughout the series- being the Intersect brings a lot of additional dangerous consequences. And despite what Chuck says, it's pretty clear considering they did it this time that Carmichael Industries doesn't really need the Intersect to complete a successful mission. Casey, Chuck and Sarah pretty much did all the leg work themselves in terms of getting the "intelligence" they needed and it would have been even simpler if Morgan hadn't stolen the zip drive for Verbanski. Plus, I kind of like un-Intersect-ed Chuck getting to show off his skills.
ReplyDelete@OldPandaDayz i get where you are coming from but
ReplyDelete1. Chuck didn't had any side effects from the intersect since season3 and the discovery of the Governor(season4 was smooth sailing intersect wise)
2. being a spy is a dangerous business anyhow so wouldn't it make more sense for him to have the device that makes him better?
3. i understand why many people feel the need to see Chuck succeed without the intersect but in all truth he already proved time after time he is the one special(not the intersect) and that he can be a spy without the intersect
4. and most important doesn't anyone find strange Chuck(after just few months of training) is able to fight better then most spies and even defend himself against the intersect?(when dozen of other spies just failed to do that before him)
The Intersect made things a little too easy and sapped much of the dramatic tension--and sometimes comedic potential--from scenes because all Chuck had to do was flash and get out of the jam.
ReplyDeleteAs an example, the massage scene in the opener wouldn't have been as fun because Chuck would have just kung fu'd the guy and got it over with.
If Chuck is to get the Intersect back, I want it to be for such an important reason, that no regular spy skills could get him out of the jam. I wouldn't even mind if they saved it for the last few episodes if he gets it back at all.
There is a bit of a mystery for Chuck's new found natural defense skills. Whether it is intentional or sloppy writing remains to be seen.
Dunno about that, remember when Chuck had his fight scenes against Steve Austin character last seasons? those where funny and he barely defeated him with the intersect
ReplyDeleteI really liked that part matched up against a worthy opponent he could barely keep up even after he flashed
As for Chuck's natural fighting skills and the reason Decker sent him the trojan horse intersect glasses i really hope there is a grand scheme for that, not just because Decker needed a reason to issue a kill order

ReplyDelete@MediaSavant- Exactly! If Chuck get's the Intersect back I want him to make that decision knowing it's because it's the only option and he needs it for whatever the big end-game arc is.
ReplyDeleteChuck doesn't need to get the Intersect back because ** ***** **** ***.
ReplyDelete@AdriaN`S
ReplyDelete1.Regardless their have been bad effects
2.The Intersect increases the overall danger because someone usually either wants it or wants to get rid of it.
Great Magnus another asterix game : )
ReplyDeleteSpoilers!
ReplyDeleteDammit! Every time I try to get out, they pull me back in!
ReplyDeleteMagnus, you need some kind of 12 step Spoilers Anonymous program. Just Say No!
ReplyDeleteJim
** ***** **** *** = "it never left him"
ReplyDeleteJim
I agree with Jim , I can totally see Fedak's " Chuck is special " meaning something like the intersect is embedded in his brain somehow and all he needs is a " reboot " to access it a lá season 3 finale
ReplyDeleteLAME ..... if it turns out that way
Where plots are concerned, LAME is this show's middle name. Just imagine this thing without the current cast and their chemistry and without the writers' ability to do the relationship stuff so well. If you just read out plot points, it's complete gibberish.
ReplyDeleteJim
Decker never said he was removing Chuck's intersect. He said the glasses were a suppression device. "Suppress" and "remove" have totally different meanings.
ReplyDeleteNow it's official people Chuck will end january 27 with a 2-hour finalle but I have a question: Is the Chuck 2 hour finale episodes 12/13, or a two hour episode of 13?
ReplyDeletenenouca
It will be 512 and 513 run together. Similar to end of Season 3.
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna miss seeing Zachary Levi on a weekly basis. His agents better get on it! Hollywood needs more leading men like him.
