Nice a 2hour finale and i heard there will be other nights with 2 episodes this season I am glad they are crunching the episodes together this way we will get the episodes faster with less brakes between episodes
I am going to watch all alone so I can cry for hours after it ends and no one can stare at me like I'm weird. I can't believe it's almost over!! It's the saddest thing EVER!!!!! :(
"It just means it is over faster. It's not like they are doing it because they love the fans."
I know that Magnus and i wonder if its because of the low ratings from this season Anyhow no matter what is the cause i am glad we are getting the episodes faster
I think the new schedule is better for everyone for NBC because this way they are reducing the hit to the ratings(assuming the Chuck ratings will stay low) for the viewers because this way they get the product faster for the actors because they are not going to be stuck doing the usual "what's next on Chuck" interviews for long and they can focus on auditioning for new projects
From my perpective, Chuck is a novel. A deeply flawed one, but one I'm enjoying immensely in spite of the flaws. Just because my first read through is quick doesn't mean I won't take time to savor it on subsequent passes. Besides, we're simply talking about speeding up the story, not abridging it.
I thought not being tied up to Chuck for so long marketing wise(interviews, articles etc.) could speed up the process of finding new projects but ofc i might be wrong : )
With the actors knowing for (pretty) sure that this was it, I wonder if they've already started lining up new work. Magnus, wearing your insider hat, would you say that Zac, Yvonne and the others are in pretty good shape careerwise coming out of Chuck?
@Jim i really hope Zac won't take the theatre route and he will stay in the main frame maybe he will be cast in a Marvel feature or something like that as for Yvonne i am sure she already has some spicy photo shoots and love interest roles opposite bigger names coming her way
First, some West Coasters are already planning a finale party. If East Coasters are so inclined, I'd love to help organize.
Second, putting aside my own impatience to see Chuck as quickly as possible, I'm saddened by the "burn off" aspect of this. I wished Chuck would have gotten a better reception ratings-wise for its final season.
Third, doing some Broadway never hurt Hugh Jackman's or Neil Patrick Harris's careers any. In fact, it embellished them. It might be a good move, provided its the right show.
First after all the opportunities Zac missed being stuck on Chuck and after all the efforts he put in keeping the show on air(i think Zac was the cast member involved with the Subway campaign that got to CNN news right?) if someone deserves a big career after this show he is definitely that one
Second its a big difference between Hugh Jackman(established name, star of various feature movies, who is probably doing Broadway to add prestige to his career)and Zac
Zac should first get his name out there in movies,he is a very talented actor and he has the advantage of having a charismatic personality so he is great for movie promotion, talk shows, interviews etc.(as we already seen with the Tangled publicity tour)
While i agree with Magnus, Zac should do whatever makes him happy an actor with his skill set(talent, looks, charisma) would be wasted on theater(in the Modern Era theater is way below movies and below TV when it comes to career and exposure)
Especially since a theater play in NY was Zac's initial plan before Chuck got picked up going back to theater instead of advancing to features is a step back career wise and it would be a shame for someone as talented as Zac to take that route
Appropriate finale title . I'm already shedding a tear . I'm not not sure if I will be able to see it though ? I refuse to live in a world where NBC thinks its ok to give a time lot to Whitney and Chelsea Handler but bench the best show on its network: COMMUNITY !!!
Thanks for the memories CHUCK . I'll cherish them forever ( minus vs Fake Name )
I think he is trying to say "If Chuck producers would ask nbc to give them more time for the final ep what would nbc answer" he probably doesn't know this show is made by WB : )
For you that want to draw this out wait for the dvd/blu-ray to be released and then you can buy it and start watching it in the year 2030 so that you can pine over Chuck for another 20 years.
Apparently someone doesn't realize that longer episodes would require more production days and that would add to WB's cost. Why do that if it's just as easy to run back to back episodes and call it a 2-hour ep?
For me it's sad. The last day watch the show and be happy for 2 hours and a minute and the start crying until I can't anymore and then start watching season 1 again like it's a new show and then when I get to the end of season 5 just repeat because I never what Chuck to end even though I know it's going to happen.
If they don't run the Christmas episode between the 23rd and 30th, and don't double up any days before that... then the show would come back and double up every week until the end? Is my math correct?
At this point, I wouldn't be shocked if they plan to run Chuck on the 23rd and 30th. Those aren't days you normally see original scripted shows run, but this isn't normal.
I'm assuming they have to start running repeats of Grimm at some point since they have no need to rush through those. If they think a repeat of Grimm would get an equal or better rating than running another Chuck at 9PM, they may very well do it to get Grimm more exposure. They will invest in Grimm. Not Chuck.
Favorite shows come. Favorite shows go. Repeat. I've yet to find a person whose favorite show went off air years ago and they never watched TV again for the rest of their life.
What's wrong with getting the episodes faster? the show length is still 5 seasons the end date is still 2012 so the "obituary" will still say 2007-2012 so what's the problem?
..and believe it or not, some fans are still talking about Chuck movies.. I don't know if to laugh or cry.. talk about being delusional. I'm just happy we got 5 seasons with a lot of good episodes.
Well we knew it was coming to an end and I'm glad we won't get any long breaks but second to no more new Chuck the worst thing about this is it will mean that it will be at least a year before we see new work by Yvonne on the TV screen again on a regular basis. She seems determined to go the film route at least at first and I don't see going after another Pilots this spring. Syndication and DVD's will be fun but I hope someday she decides to do another series.
it's inevitable but i know i will miss it soo bad!!!:'(
ReplyDeleteNice a 2hour finale and i heard there will be other nights with 2 episodes this season
ReplyDeleteI am glad they are crunching the episodes together this way we will get the episodes faster with less brakes between episodes
It just means it is over faster. It's not like they are doing it because they love the fans.
ReplyDeleteyeah, they should just try and postpone the ending as long as they can.
ReplyDeleteI am going to watch all alone so I can cry for hours after it ends and no one can stare at me like I'm weird. I can't believe it's almost over!! It's the saddest thing EVER!!!!! :(

Yes, they are burning them off, essentially.
ReplyDeleteWhat do I plan on doing that night? Rapture. Death. I will no longer exist.
ReplyDeleteBurning them off means more Chuck, faster for me. Why is that a bad thing?
ReplyDeleteJim
Some people aren't about instant gratification.
ReplyDeleteI think the new schedule is better for everyone
ReplyDeletefor NBC because this way they are reducing the hit to the ratings(assuming the Chuck ratings will stay low)

for the actors because they are not going to be stuck doing the usual "what's next on Chuck" interviews for long and they can focus on auditioning for new projects
From where i stand its a win win situation
Why would the actors care? It ends for them in a few weeks. Whether they burn off the episodes 2 or 3 weeks earlier won't make any difference to them.
ReplyDeleteBut instant gratification is so...instant.
ReplyDeleteFrom my perpective, Chuck is a novel. A deeply flawed one, but one I'm enjoying immensely in spite of the flaws. Just because my first read through is quick doesn't mean I won't take time to savor it on subsequent passes. Besides, we're simply talking about speeding up the story, not abridging it.
Jim
Also, I fail to see how a few interviews interfere with their ability to find new work.
ReplyDeleteI thought not being tied up to Chuck for so long marketing wise(interviews, articles etc.) could speed up the process of finding new projects but ofc i might be wrong : )
ReplyDeleteJim, hurrying to see the end of things is a psychological problem one should discuss with one's professionally trained hostage negotiator.
ReplyDeleteAdriaN'S, there is no might about it. You are ALWAYS wrong.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should want them to speed the end up so I can move on from you quicker. ;)
With the actors knowing for (pretty) sure that this was it, I wonder if they've already started lining up new work. Magnus, wearing your insider hat, would you say that Zac, Yvonne and the others are in pretty good shape careerwise coming out of Chuck?
ReplyDeleteJim
See Magnus? there is a silver lining to everything : ) ) )
ReplyDelete" Jim, hurrying to see the end of things is a psychological problem one should discuss with one's professionally trained hostage negotiator."
ReplyDeleteHey! Only the voice in my had knows about him. Wait...that's not you is it?
Jim

I see nothing wrong with going to Broadway. If that is what makes Zac happy, he should do it.
ReplyDeleteWasn't it originally suppose to end on February 3?
ReplyDeleteIf that's the case bumping it up only one week isn't so bad.
Why final episode can't be 50 minutes or more??
ReplyDelete"Friends" and other shows did it
Why chuck can't???
Well, the original end-date was always preliminary. Hell, any schedule is preliminary until the date of airing.
ReplyDeleteesozcanesk, FRIENDS... one of NBC's most popular shows ever... that's why.
ReplyDeleteFirst after all the opportunities Zac missed being stuck on Chuck and after all the efforts he put in keeping the show on air(i think Zac was the cast member involved with the Subway campaign that got to CNN news right?)

Zac will decide his own career path.
ReplyDelete" It's hard to say goodbye " :)
ReplyDeleteif Producers ask it from nbc, what would nbc do??

"if Producers ask it from nbc, what would nbc do?? "
ReplyDeleteWhat the heck are you saying?
I think he is trying to say "If Chuck producers would ask nbc to give them more time for the final ep what would nbc answer"
ReplyDeletehe probably doesn't know this show is made by WB : )
does anyone else think the title of the episode will relate to the funeral of the person whos supposed to die
ReplyDeleteFor you that want to draw this out wait for the dvd/blu-ray to be released and then you can buy it and start watching it in the year 2030 so that you can pine over Chuck for another 20 years.
ReplyDeletethe 2 hour series finale will be 12 and 13?Or only the 13 will have 2 hours?Anyone knows?
ReplyDeleteI am willing to bet my life that it is 12 and 13.
ReplyDeleteif producers want to film an episode 2 hours what would nbc do??
ReplyDeleteI did say anything wrong??
Has it be confirmed that one of the characters on this show will die?
ReplyDeleteI thought articles about that were referring to a major character on one of the major network shows but not necessarily Chuck.
"if producers want to film an episode 2 hours what would nbc do??"
ReplyDeleteSay no.
Apparently someone doesn't realize that longer episodes would require more production days and that would add to WB's cost. Why do that if it's just as easy to run back to back episodes and call it a 2-hour ep?

ReplyDeleteIf the Christmas episode is 5.07 then sorry no. there will be 7 episodes left. there are 4 Fridays in Jan. they would double 3 and one could fly solo.
ReplyDeleteRight, we would get 5.07 and then double up for three weeks straight.
ReplyDeleteAt this point, I wouldn't be shocked if they plan to run Chuck on the 23rd and 30th. Those aren't days you normally see original scripted shows run, but this isn't normal.

Hell, I would rather they run CHUCK straight through without any off-days and just double up the finale.
ReplyDeleteAt this point, that would be fine with me, too. I don't have anything going on for the 23rd or 30th anyway.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually pretty happy about this. Its probably the best case scenario given the ratings. Hopefully the dvd release will be moved up as well.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the woes of Community, Magnus.
Community is probably gone after this season.
ReplyDeleteBreaking Bad will end this summer after 5 seasons.
It's not just Chuck a lot of my favorite shows are leaving the air.
I'm running out of things to watch.
Favorite shows come. Favorite shows go. Repeat. I've yet to find a person whose favorite show went off air years ago and they never watched TV again for the rest of their life.
ReplyDeleteYou don't know me very well then.
ReplyDeleteWell, I know you are hyperbolic... so, there's that. ;)
ReplyDeleteafter Chuck is over I dont have to worry about watching Network TV again. Cable TV is where it at now.
ReplyDeleteWell, Schwartz has confirmed that Chuck is airing on the 23rd & 30th.
ReplyDeleteWell, at least we will have a wonderful Christmas and New Year!
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean the Christmas episode will actually air near Christmas? That would be a nice treat if it happens.
ReplyDeleteJim
It does, unless they moved Christmas this year.
ReplyDeleteSee? The ratings mattered after all. If the show had been doing better, we never would have been getting these episodes so fast.
ReplyDeleteIt's like a Christmas present from the people who stopped watching the show.
What's wrong with getting the episodes faster?
ReplyDeletethe show length is still 5 seasons the end date is still 2012 so the "obituary" will still say 2007-2012 so what's the problem?
Didn't we just cover this exact question? SHUT UP.
ReplyDelete"It's like a Christmas present from the people who stopped watching the show."
ReplyDeleteIt's a Christmas miracle! I feel a carol coming on.
Jim
Sorry if this is somewhere else but can someone post the dates of the remaining episodes when they will air??
ReplyDeleteYou can find it on GeekFurious:
