November 14, 2011 UPDATE: CHUCK Series Finale set!
October 24th, 2011 UPDATE!!!! CHUCK 2011 episode SCHEDULE!
The series finale is currently set for 3 February, 2012.
This news will likely upset fans who were expecting the show to return in late September. I guess one positive way to look at it is that CHUCK won't end until 2012 and perhaps we will now see a Christmas episode, if they plan on running the episodes through December.
It is important to note that this is based on an early schedule released by the network and could possibly change (though sources say the premiere date is unlikely to change).
What say you?
P.S.
Check out this article at GeekFurious.com which details TV ratings on Friday nights. It is eye opening for us CHUCK fans in many ways. You will like this one too.
SERIOUSLY??? NOOOOOOOO! Why??? I was already freakin out waiting until september! this sucks!
ReplyDeleteWhaaaaat?! That's not a long time!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info, Magnus. You may not be posting spoilers anymore but you are still on top of everyone else when it comes to Chuck news.
ReplyDeleteAm I upset about it? Yeah I guess but in October I will be happy. Patience is a virtue.
"Whaaaaat?! That's not a long time!"
ReplyDeleteI guess it isn't a long time if you thought it was coming back in 2013.
Any insight as to why they would want to start that late?
ReplyDeleteApparently NBC will run encores of new shows in that spot until 21 October.
ReplyDelete....also....
ReplyDeleteGrimm is schedule on 10/21 also. Maybe this gives NBC the opportunity to promote both shows in a way that would NOT happen on premiere week when they'll be going all out on their new shows.
Perhaps. I doubt they care much about CHUCK, though. This would be a push to get GRIMM the highest possible ratings.
ReplyDeleteProbably more about Grimm getting promotion than Chuck. But, they are hoping for some cross-viewing between Chuck and Grimm.
ReplyDeleteWhen do pilots usually get filmed for the next season? Does going later make it more difficult for the cast of chuck to get on board with something else for the next year?
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard a definitive date for when CHUCK will start shooting again but I bet it is the normal late July or early August deal. So, the TV schedule shouldn't affect the shooting schedule much. And with pretty much zero chance of CHUCK getting more than 13 episodes, the actors are likely already looking for new projects.
ReplyDeleteThis is not a big deal.
ReplyDeleteSome shows come back in September while others wait until October or even November to premiere.
Chuck coming back around that time is what i expected.
Be thankful it's coming back at at all.
fact that ratings for chuck are their best from september to november tells me nbc has no interest to keep chuck for more than 13.
ReplyDeleteFans should be under no delusions about the potential of CHUCK getting more than 13 episodes. This is it. And not just because the show is coming back in October instead of September (or even because of it at all), but because the deal between WB and NBC makes it so there is virtually NO CHANCE that NBC will order more episodes.
ReplyDeleteSo it starts a month later than expected. This is a problem...why, exactly?
ReplyDeleteWith any luck, we get a nice Halloween/Thanksgiving/Christmas round of episodes before whatever craziness they want to do for the finale this last time around.
Jim
It is a problem because it is a month later than was expected or four to five weeks longer wait. I don't like waiting for the things I love. maybe you don't love it as much as I do if you can.
ReplyDeleteTeehee... my geek love is bigger than yours!
ReplyDeleteIf 5 extra weeks is really a burden for you, then I probably don't love it as much as you do. Therefore, I concede that your geek love is bigger than mine. Now go forth an multiply so that geekiness may inherit the Earth. Or something like that.
ReplyDeleteJim
Hey, that's my birthday! What a wonderful present. But considering it will be my 21st, I can't guarantee that I'll be spending the evening watching Chuck. Or the next morning. Maybe the next afternoon. Teehee.
ReplyDeleteYeah, they held it over just for you.
ReplyDeleteOkay, so starting with October 21, there are 16 Fridays through and including February 3.
ReplyDeleteThat means we get only three Fridays without Chuck. One small break as opposed to the several we got this year.
Hmm.... I like it!
im not complaining. i have seen other shows start in october. it be worst if had to wait till january. i say october is pretty descent date.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind the extra wait :) as you already said Magnus it's good that the show obituary will say 2007-2012 :)
ReplyDeleteThe only thing i mind is the fact that they already made their decision regarding extra-episodes(seasons)and there is no more "hope" :( .. but i guess that's just the business side and no "respectable" television will take this kind of decisions from other perspectives then ratings and how much money they can make from the show. I also wished more honesty from the spoke person from NBC and less bulls**t regarding the reasons they gave us season5.. like : "we did it so the fans can get closure!" be real.. you did it cause WB made you an offer you couldn't refuse ;) I think it's sad delusional fans will think they saved the show and go on thanking NBC for their care in fan feelings. (wich is equal to 0 or lower in my point of view) Be real people, they only care about making money they don't give a sh*t about show`s story`line or how fans feel about this sort of things, if you don't produce your off air ;)
And regarding to the lead actors finding other projects .. i'm sure that's true but i strongly believe we are not going to see either Zachary Levi or Yvonne Strahovski as leads in another TV show any time soon cause usually when a show that's been around for 5 years ends the lead actors go towards Movies careers & TV producers are less inclined to use them as leads in shows cause of the recognision problem.
Thanx again for the cool blog Magnus & I hope you`ll be around posting about Chuck in autumn even if you stated your not posting spoilers anymore :)
I wouldn't be shocked to see Zac and Yvonne end up on TV shows again but I think it is more likely that we see them try to launch movie careers. However, cable TV show schedules are different from network TV, so we could see them aiming for something like that (where you only do 13 episodes a year and sometimes don't shoot for a whole year).
ReplyDeleteI would be shocked if we`ll see them star in another TV show until hmm .. 2014,2015 ?:) besides recognition "problem" they both stated in interviews they are aiming for Big screen careers so i think that's the best thing for them (cause if your not like Charlie Sheen in 2 and 1/2 man and get payed like a King per episode) it's way better to be a movie star then a TV star both financial and career`wise
ReplyDeleteAlso i think they will be just amazing in a romantic-comedy together as leads, their chemistry is uncanny and Hollywood Producers should be aware of that and use it :)
Well, we may not see them star on a television show for a while but they could end up working in television again. You can work on a film career if you just have a small role on some show, or are working on a very limited schedule on a cable show.
ReplyDeleteTrue that, i'm pretty sure they`ll get Guest`appearances in Schwartz & other producers projects i just said i don't think they are going to be "leads" anytime soon :)
ReplyDeleteChuck stays around a little longer -- sounds fine to me.
ReplyDeleteAlso, does the late start, possibly creating a later filming schedule, increase chances at a Chuckfest 3?
I predict that in like 5-7 years Zac and Yvonne will be cast in a romantic comedy together and people who never heard of Chuck will watch the series because they will be taken aback from the awesomeness that is Y+Z . They could be the new Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think it increases the likelihood of a Chuckfest3. We have talked about it, though.
ReplyDeleteI hope your right ANON :) I mean it would be great if they do a movie together & i saw in a interview that Zach`s "idol" is Tom Hanks so pretty nice parallel kudos 2 you :D
ReplyDeleteAlso just like Zach & Yvonne, Hanks and Ryan sold the idea of a fantastic couple perfectly even though they never dated in real life so you picked the "perfect couple" to compare them to :)
I saw @Kentuckysocal on Twitter respond to a fan's question about when they should do the WB tour by saying that they only expect to be in production until Thanksgiving on Chuck.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the later airdate means they start production later than last year. If they start in July like they did last year and finish the 13th episode by Thanksgiving, it still won't be ready to air until 2012.
I recall they filmed 14 episodes last year by the end of the year before they shut down for the holidays.
I think we'll see that they are in production already by Comiccon.
They finished shooting the 13th episode last season around Thanksgiving, so that sounds about right.
ReplyDeleteIt's no biggie! IT WILL BE WORTH THE WAIT!!!
ReplyDeleteBut, I JUST WANT MORE EPISODESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!
I just want to say that the way ZacharyLeviFan.com linked to this article was classy. You don't see people doing it like that anymore.
ReplyDeleteHell no come on February i cant live without chuck
ReplyDeleteSo... you don't want February to come? Or... I am confused.
ReplyDeleteMy only fear is that if the ratings are too bad (even for a friday night) NBC might decide not to air the last episodes, just like they did for the Cape last year. Except for this, S5 is a gift, and we have to take it like this, and enjoy it whenever it comes...
ReplyDeleteInteresting, but not necessarily a bad thing. I do think another Christmas episode would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteAlso Magnus, question:
I'm doing a full rewatch of Chuck this summer, and as I'm going through the episodes, I'm rating/ranking them. However, something I like to do when I finish an episode is go online and see how my opinions agree/disagree with others. So, I was wondering if there is a specific podcast in which you all go through some of your favorite episodes of the show, etc. The closest thing I've found to this is "The ChuckGasmys: the Award Show by the Fans" entry from Sept. 2010 which picks out some of the best scenes of certain categories. So, I was wondering if there were any other specific entries which go over favorite episodes in a similar manner?
Thanks a ton in advance! :)
Also, if anyone cares I'm three episodes into S3 and the two 10's I've given so far are Santa Claus and Colonel.
Sorry, I don't remember my own podcast.
ReplyDeleteStarting in October is better than January though. As somebody else said, hopefully we'll get a few holiday episodes. This could also give them a later filming date, which could possibly mean a longer time for the writers to write some good story lines and not be in a rush, and not have to rush to come up with a great series finale.
ReplyDeleteThere won't be any more time for the writers to do anything. Plus, why do fans always think more time means better ideas or better writing? More time just means you have more time to think of something that will SUCK!
ReplyDeleteOnce "Chuck" is off the air, I will have nothing to watch on NBC. Really.
ReplyDeleteWell, it won't happen until February so... you can still enjoy NBC until then.
ReplyDeleteFirst- my reaction is sort of upset but not too much. I feel that will change however around Sept. 1 when there is that lull in spoilers/teasers before the premiere. I also hate the later start date because it gives the wackos more time to speculate wildly, which will also start to aggravate me somewhere around mid-Sept. I will find a way to deal though, probably by doing a month long re-watch of all my fav episodes in preparation for the end.
ReplyDeleteOn a related note: Magnus, I noticed the link at the bottom and did I miss you launching the GeekFurious blog? Are you doing all the posts for that or do you have contributors? I glanced at a couple of the articles and it looks awesome! Will be spending my weekend reading all the posts I somehow missed.
-OPD
OPD, I have contributors. And I will take any contributor who can write well and about geek stuff. :)
ReplyDeleteIf you look on the left side of the main page you will see a tab called "Altered Perspective." Click on the CLICK ME! link and you will see a different view of the articles. It is cool. You can then look up and choose by "Author." I write under Head Geek Furious. Every single person who is writing for the site right now is someone I met through the CHUCK fandom. My aim is to keep it that way, at least for now.
So, right now is the time to offer up some work if you want to write for it. I imagine we will be huge some day.
As for launching it... I just launched it without much fanfare. I just launched it. I didn't make a big deal about it.
Thanks for the info! I will let you know if I think of and manage to construct a post worthy of the great Magnus and GeekFurious!!
ReplyDelete-OPD
I don't know if anybody has pointed this out or not but there has been a x-mas episode in season 2 called Chuck Versus Santa Claus
ReplyDeleteWHAT?!
ReplyDeleteyep so unless you call jeffster and morgan dressing up like elf's and big mike dressing up as Santa Claus not an x-mas episode then I don't know what is. But don't get me wrong I would like to see another x-mas episode and even though the day will already have passed a fathers day episode to say thanks for Scott Bakula aka Orion.
ReplyDeleteAt Least we don't have to wait till March again ;-)
ReplyDeleteGreg, I am not sure what your glitch is but we all know there was a Christmas episode. We want another one.
ReplyDeletethen why didn't you just say another christmas episode so I wouldn't have said something like that
ReplyDeleteYeah, it is clearly our fault that you thought it was necessary to correct a bunch of fans of the show about the show they love.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry I thought you were the one writing the post that we see and I have been a fan of Chuck since day 1 and have been supporting this show ever since we were under the bubble in season 2,3,4. So don't think I am some jerk who like to point out things because I am pretty sure this is the first time I have ever pointed out anything at all beside "The Morgan" move thing in this season.
ReplyDeleteat least we get to watch chuck the finale season.. :3
ReplyDeletewell could be worse i live in england but i can watch it 2 week before via megavideo !!!
ReplyDeleteI think we can make a positive aspect of this. This season will be broadcasted in fridays, I remember that Supernatural changed from thursday to friday and the rating stars to increase.
ReplyDeleteI hope the happens with Chuck and we can have more seasons from Chuck :)
There will be NO MORE SEASONS OF CHUCK.
ReplyDeleteNo need to hope for it. It is over in February. Accept it. Deal with it. And enjoy what is left.
Ausiello and the rest of the bloggers are now noting the October 21st return date. You scopped them by five weeks. Still the top dog in the Chuck info game.
ReplyDeleteI saw... and of course like three people will point it out. Hence why I am done with spoilers for season 5. :)
ReplyDeleteYour tweet to ausiello was p0wnage!
ReplyDeleteThe general blogger media may not know who you are but we know you are the most reliable source of Chuck information. F*** them and f*** Michael Asshollo.
ReplyDeleteEasy... PG blog!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, this just proves, yet again, that my sources continue to be the best!
ReplyDeleteWHY DO PEOPLE CARE WHEN IT STARTS!!! I CANT BELIEVE THIS IS ThE LAST SEASON!WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletePeople care when it starts SO THEY KNOW WHEN TO WATCH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteNNooo dont stop chuck... not looking forward to 2012 :(
ReplyDeleteI think that we need to let our voices be heard, ill boycott the nbc network and i strongly suggest anyone else does the same if they cancel chuck. Its not that there arnt any fans, just that the fans are busy mondays, so would catch it online or on demand, tbey should really take that into account when checking the ratings, most nobody watches any shows during the showtime anymore. So if nbc doesnt get thoer heads out of thier ass and realize chuck is a great show and a possible gold mine if they would work a different advertisment angle. Like MLB, cant watch mlb anywhere else but mlb designated sites or applications, nbc should do the same for thier shows, and monitor actual traffic, cause i cant find anything bad about tbe show, or negative reviews, show rocks, so does ghe actors, its got humor, whit, attraction, drama, suspense and action, the perfect formula for a very long series and if this was 1998 and video streaming and tivo or on demand didnt exist, they would have realized that by now. So i say if chuck ends with season five , then no more NBC for me, ill be sure to block the station from mg cable box, and when nbc loses millions of customers they will have learned the hardway. Boycott, boycott boycott
ReplyDeleteRichard, strangely enough this ended up in my spam box so perhaps I have dropped you in there before... but I almost left it there. Then I thought... hmmmm, this kind of nutty thought process should get some notice.
ReplyDeleteBoycotting NBC for hanging onto a low rated show for FIVE SEASONS, or 91 episodes, is not just the most ridiculous thing I have heard from fans, but totally childish. They have treated CHUCK better than the studio that OWNS the show. And you want to boycott them? Douche.
I have mever been to this site, but... A network too arragent to see that canceling chuck would be a big mistake deserves a boycott. Lack of actual research, before canceling ANY show is poor business managment, they should research everything, in todays modern society ratings (direct) isnt everything it ia cracked up to be, i dont know ANYONE who watched the show and didnt like it, they just catch the show in a more conventional and convienent matter, i have not missed a single episode of chuck, but i also have not watched it during showtime in 2 seasons, reason is...work, networks should begin taking into account the other avenues of marketing and advertisment, focus on where the show can be viewed, track actual viewers and get the ad sponsers onto these new avenues and channels being used (as best as they can) , then and ONLY then can you determine the worth of a show. I would say the same for a show i have never seen, not upset about chuck (generally speaking), more so at the lack of proper research, that type of thinking will get you no where.
ReplyDeleteP.s, this may never make it to board because it makes more sense then you may want, and also, calling me a douche? Great job at flaming and baiting against your own rules, pretty sure that sets a great example.
Richard, you have NO CLUE what you are talking about. It is adorable that you are so passionately WRONG.
ReplyDeleteAnd I make the rules and break them. Owner's prerogative. But I save it for those who most deserve it and your entire call-to-arms is drowning under the weight of its own massive ignorance.
Oh and let me add... we have been talking about this for years. So, by this point, most people who have read this site before know that what you are saying is very soft on reality, and full of wide-eyed fan lunacy.
ReplyDeleteNetworks don't make money off NON AD GENERATING AVENUES. So why would they count those? And since NBC DOESN'T OWN THE SHOW, they make a majority of their revenue on ADS.
As for the rest of what you said... what the hell do you think the networks are doing? NBC tries to squeeze out as much money from all ad generating avenues as possible.
ReplyDeleteCHUCK DOESN'T GENERATE ENOUGH REVENUE TO JUSTIFY KEEPING AROUND LONGER.
Got it? Simple enough? CHUCK fans are big talk and little action. Hell, I have seen 9 pre-orders of season 4 via this site. NINE. And I know most of those people.
Big talk, little action.
Major stars agree the rating system should be change, so i cant be too wrong, and your missing the point entirely, networks should explore those avenues, same way many other networks and major organizations, use man power and lawsuits to fight repbroadcasts outside of thier control,I graduated college with a associates in marketing and certs in marketing phsycology, it would work, if they cafe about the viewers and want thier opinions to matter then they would do what they have to and explore ALL avenues. Lets look at the MLB, one of the largest franchises in america, they forbid reproduction or rebroadcasts of any kind, now imagine if the yankees game can be viewed as easily as primetime tv shows? What would happen to the revenue? A Drastic decrease is the answer. Networks should take into account the potential (utilizing all avenues) then determine a appropriate road map to retrieve this potential and prophit, be it limit the rebroadcasts without compensation or force paid advertisments with any rebroadcast, either way is best for any network and any show.
ReplyDeleteOn the other note: being the owner of a site doesnt make it okay to break rules put into place to protect your members and posters from disrespectful comments shows complete arragence as a site owner and you can be assured can only hurt your site, it takes away from the sence of community, but your calle it guess.
Also, it was asking for big actions, its not about chuck (soley), but about a network unable to see something good when it is right infront of them, based only numbers alone. Your site doesnt have the proper potential to genérate sales, your site isnt built for sales so, cant consider it a credible source for statistics, however other sites generate enouph buzz to show NBC what the fans watch, in fact at geek HQ a few sites were credited for thier support. And you cant argue against something then put everyone down for lack of action, if every fan sogned a petition, threatened to boycott the network or alike, you may see a season 6, i dont think you realize, its not a network making a stupid decision, but a network catching on to what the public wants, with that said, when i heard this would be the final season, i realized a terrible decision has been made, thats my opinion, as i am entitled to. If you want chuck to make it to season 6, fight for a better rating system, fight for the network to realize the world is much larger then primetime and the internet has long surpassed tv and showtimes.
ReplyDeleteFind it odd you wont display the remainder of my posts..
ReplyDeleteYour posts didn't get approved because I WASN'T HERE, genius.
ReplyDeleteAs for the rest of your babblings, movie actors know about as much as YOU DO about the inner workings of the system. So, the fact that some of them agree with your ignorance of it doesn't help your argument much.
Especially since you refuse to accept the obvious: networks are consistently trying to squeeze out EVERY SINGLE PENNY possible from EVERY AVENUE. If you have thought of it, they have thought of it 50 different ways. But CHUCK just isn't profitable enough to KEEP around anymore. Studios and networks don't make shows to make you happy. They make shows TO MAKE MONEY. If a show doesn't have enough fans to keep it profitable, or to give a studio the feeling that it will make them money down the line, they won't keep making it.
And your enemy isn't NBC, in this case. NBC is just about the only network that would have kept the show on for 91 episodes.
If chuck ever ends…ill die. I NEED THIS SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThen say goodbye to your loved ones. You have until February 3rd.
ReplyDeletei have a feeling it's not going to be very good :/
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteRazorback, seeing as how the respective cast hasnt went on to do much (any?) movie work, what are the chances it could go to USA Network or AMC etc? What are your thoughts
ReplyDeleteYvonne is off doing movies and I am sure Zac will be doing lots more work soon. There is negative 10 million chance of WB moving the show to any network. It ends with season 5.
ReplyDeleteThis is very sad news to me to hear that this is the last season for CHUCK. I have enjoyed the show very much and say to all my fellow CHUCKSTERS let's really send the show out with a bang. Tell all your friends and family to watch and we will give the show the best numbers they ever had. I want to see how they can end a show that produced great numbers and the best that the show ever had. This was such a great show and it had a good story line to boot. I say let's RALLY people! Save this show!
ReplyDeleteHelp save the show my fellow chucksters! Watch it tell every one to watch it.
ReplyDeleteWatch it and tell everyone about it and to watch it too.
ReplyDeletei am a big fan of chuck! y did they prospone it for so long. kind of a disapiontment. and they better be a season 6 dont end it at season 5!
ReplyDeletethey cant stop chuck at season 5 well on a website there are over a 1 million viewers. Then u got the people watching it on t.v there are a lot of viewers but what are they thinking. so uncool. Keep making chuck after season 5!
ReplyDeleteif it has to end this season then they better make it amazing....like give the intercect back to chuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletei agree with anonymous!!! HE IS COOOOL!
ReplyDeletethank you other anonymous....i like morgan but he cant just take chucks line like that!!
ReplyDeleteyou're welcome! im just glad there is another chuck nerd just like me out there!!! you probably live half way around the world from methough :(
ReplyDeleteMan, this sucks. I really like that show and say they need to do more seasons.. It's too young to end already :( It's the only stress reliever that i get on monday nights
ReplyDeletethis sucks!! i love this show
ReplyDeleteanonymous is back and cant wait.....7 more days and chucks back with us
ReplyDeleteI THOUGHT THAT IT WAS COMING ON THE 21ST OF OCTOBER!!! NOOOOOOO!!!!! cry...
ReplyDeleteTee Hee
ReplyDeleteIt's called chuck not morgan, the first one was ok but alright already come on give chuck the intersect back because you went from a great show to starting to get really retarted. I might be jumping the gun on this but chuck took awhile to become good at the intersect he was clumsy and shy, which played in well for the show. Now Morgan has it, I seriously think its screwing with the finale season. The only good thing about it it finally takes some of the romance out of the show that was to far over the top and was drowning the show. I really looked forward to this so please clean some of this up and go out with a bang not a sizzle.
ReplyDeleteRazorback is totally wrong... Chuck will be back, all the actors want it to continue. I mean the whole cast and crew want to continue with making chuck. As far as making money, it is making money! Chuck will continue trust me. Zach and the staff have in no way given up... Chris even said he really wants to do more with the show! Have faith people. razorback get over yourself..
ReplyDelete"Razorback is totally wrong"
ReplyDeleteYeah ummmm so it has been cancelled and the entire crew made a video saying goodbye. Have you been on the moon?
Obviously that cat is going to SAVE CHUCK!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, they haven't nearly destroyed most of the Chucks sets, put 'Chuck: 2007-2011' on the Stage 17 plaque and the cast didn't have a wrap party last week.
ReplyDeleteIt was all fake. Really. -_-
I organized the biggest fake wrap party ever!
ReplyDeleteemail subway again, use budget from parks and recreation and whitney for chuck and get new director and writers so they can write out chucks sister and her hubby, get more characters and then kill em off, more action, and stop talking about intersect and just use it.
ReplyDelete
