Chuck You Tuesday - Episode 28 (ADULTS ONLY)

We Almost Discuss CHUCK Versus The OTHER GUY.

ADULT LANGUAGE WARNING! DO NOT let your kids hear this. This is an UNEDITED PODCAST for 76 minutes and then has edited OUTTAKES from PunkaTess' party. All comments are unfiltered and insane.  If you are offended, it is your own darn fault.  In this episode I also offend other podcasts, other sites, and other fan "campaign" efforts.  If you are a major whiner, don't listen.  Your feelings will be hurt and then you will try to make a big deal out of it and I won't care.

TWITTER TREND TO SAVE CHUCK (version 4)

People are scared that CHUCK might be canceled and want to do what they can to save it.  That means we have new people joining our Twitter trending effort.
Below are steps to make it happen.

1. CREATE a TWITTER account

2. DO NOT click the "Protect my tweets" box (under SETTINGS > Account)).  If it is clicked, UNCLICK IT.  Your tweets will NOT be counted in the trend if this is enabled.

3. Follow @ChuckMeMondays

4. At 6PM ET (5PM CT, 4PM MT, 3PM PT) on Monday, we start TWEETING (that is what they call it on Twitter... it means we are commenting/posting) the term/phrase we want to trend

5. We want to trend one term and it is #SaveChuck

"But how do you trend a topic?!" you ask.  Easy.  Just tweet any series of messages (about 100 per hour is safe) using the #SaveChuck  term within the messages.  An example would be:

Please watch CHUCK! Because we want it back for another season! #SaveChuck

Some people just tweet things like:

#SaveChuck #SaveChuck #SaveChuck #SaveChuck

... and then add a 1 or some number after it to differentiate it from their other tweets (Twitter will NOT allow the exact same tweet twice no matter how hard you try).  Some people say that if you do this, it will get you blocked from trending since Twitter considers it spam.  This may be true but no one has ever shown any evidence of this and we have trended many times using this method.  But I recommend trying to just tweet the term in legitimate messages.

 P.S.

It can take OVER an hour for a trend to actually show itself on the trend list.  So, don't quit tweeting just because the term hasn't trended yet.  It is often right on the verge of trending when people quit.  Also, don't tweet more than 100 times (well, it is like 125) per hour or you will end up in TWITTER JAIL for an hour.  If you do end up there, have a backup account.

Chuck Versus The American Hero/Other Guy - A SSFI teaser preview

NOTICE: YOU MAY NOT POST ANY OF THIS MATERIAL ANYWHERE ELSE. YOU MAY POST A LINK TO THIS SITE.

No screener was made available for these episodes but my ninjas know all and have flipped out and killed lots of people so that I am able to bring you this little preview.  Though, since I have not seen the episodes, I can only hint at things.

Since a few fan sites and fans decided to copy the material of these teasers without properly crediting me, I am creating a new paradigm for posting this teasers.  I am going to try this one more time.  If I see people posting these elsewhere as opposed to linking to this site for them to be read, then this will be the last I post.  If people can't be respectful of the source, then the source is not going to bother again.  If everyone is cool, we can keep doing this for the rest of the season.

So, police other sites for me if you want to keep it going.

Teaser 1:
There are multiple missions going on at the same time.

Teaser 2:
A serious mistake is made by a character that will weigh heavily on them.

Teaser 3:
A terrible truth will be revealed.

Teaser 4:
A decision is arrived at that will change the entire shape of the show.

Teaser 5:
One character's burden is over while another character's is about to begin.

Teaser 6:
General Beckman will have trouble getting her point across during a busy moment.

Teaser 7:
Someone has a conversation with spirits.

Teaser 14:
What lies above the shadows of a name once known as "Shaw," rests upon the heart of true love.

NEXT UP... 15 and 16?

Nielsen Families - How You Can Save CHUCK

Here are easy ways a member of the Nielsen Family can keep CHUCK on for many years.  Before I even detail how Nielsen families can help, let me say that THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS:

WATCH CHUCK LIVE (IMPORTANT: do not change channels during commercials)

Don't DVR it* and wait to watch it tomorrow.  Don't DVR it* and watch it a week later.  Watch it LIVEYou can DVR every other show since none of the ones at that hour are in danger of being canceled.  ONLY CHUCK.  So, tune in 5 minutes before it comes on (to make sure you get to record your view as it starts) and stick around until the hour is up and the show is over.  Oh, and record your view (as detailed below).

Let me also say that the strategies we used last year to "save Chuck" are not going to help us this time.  You can watch the show online if you must but it won't bring the show back.  You can buy Subway sammiches but it won't save the show.  You can write letters but it won't save the show.  You can create polls, Facebook groups, and pray... but none of it will save the show.  We HAVE TO have people watching the show LIVE.  So, it is up to every fan who wants the show to survive to get people into the show and to spread the word about the show online as much as possible.

We have 2-months before NBC makes it decision.  NBC is going to renew CHUCK or cancel it based on TV ratings only.  So, we need as many people tuning in LIVE as possible.

Now for the Nielsen Families:

  • First, make sure you are a Nielsen Family member
  • Second, identify what type of meter (box) you have
  • Nielsen has different ways that their members record their viewings
    • Active/Passive Meters
    • Most members record their views via "Diaries" but these numbers are not counted in the overnights but do matter in the grand scheme of things.

Read these instructions for how you can maximize CHUCK's ratings via your specific Nielsen Family viewing habit recording scheme.

ACTIVE/PASSIVE METERS

This is a box where you have to push a button to record your views.  You should have a button for each member in your house as well as buttons for guests.  Push EVERY BUTTON  when they flash.  Make sure to report ages of any guest watching between 18-49 years (18-34 is even better).  Have more TVs?  You can have Nielsen add boxes to those and push your buttons like crazy.  More ratings!  CHUCK returns for 12 more seasons!  Have a party every Monday if you must.  Get as many people into the room as you can... or get really good at pushing many buttons at the same time.

DIARIES

This is the most common Nielsen Family viewing habit recording tool.  You write down what you watched and send it in to Nielsen.  Make sure everyone in your household sends in that they watched CHUCK live and that you had lots of people there with you when you watched (full room... you hold parties every Monday).

If you know a Nielsen Family member, it is possible that they have NO CLUE how to save the show they love.  They may think they know but many are mislead by their power, or lack of power, to influence a show.  So, if you are part of Nielsen and are not watching CHUCK live, then please do so from now on.  Thank you.

*If you must DVR it, be sure to watch the episode prior to 3AM that day and DO NOT skip any commercials.  You must watch your DVR recording as if it were live.  You can actually watch the recording within 3-days and have it count but for it to be counted in overnight ratings, watch it prior to 3AM.

Chuck Versus The Final Exam - A SSFI Preview

Enjoy this lovely preview of CHUCK Versus The FINAL EXAM..

First, before I get to the preview breakdown, have you listened to our latest podcast?  Clicky (ADULTS ONLY)!

Acting: This is mostly Zac's episode but we do get some lovely moments from the other leads including Adam Baldwin getting to play up Casey's shift into civilian life and how a trained killer has to learn to adapt to a new battlefield.

Action: Chuck almost-naked fighting in a towel.  What more do the ladies need?

Directing/Editing: I loved most of the choices made during the episode other than one fight sequence edited using that Bourne style.  I am sure they had a reason for doing it but I am just not a huge fan.  I do think this is Robert Duncan McNeill's best directing yet.

Story: This is both a big shipper episode as well as a major change episode.  Intense and romantic.  It feels like a penultimate or finale episode.  Ends with a cliffhanger.

Drama: There is some serious drama toward the end of this episode.  One of my favorite acting moments in the show is in Final Exam and it involves Chuck's shock at being told some deadly news.  The way he deals with it is dark, intense, and still very Chuck-like.

Suspense: The darker themes of this season amp up a lot of the suspense due to Chuck's mission being more dangerous.  There is also a good deal of fauxmance suspense.

Comedy: Final Exam is essentially split in two.  The first half is very light.  It might remind some of Chuck Versus The First Date in tone.  Though, there is always this cloud hovering over everything as you feel things are not going to go as well as they seem.  One of my favorite funny lines is early on and involves Chuck's perception of Sarah's job and her need to travel.  The dialogue moves quickly but I had to pause and rewind.  Brilliant.

Romance: Lots and lots of fauxmance.  Including two people... and a bed... as well as Chuck and Sarah's most romantic moment since she asked him to run away with her in episode 1 of this season.  Chuck is sooooooo darn geeky smooth adorable that it is going to make girls and some boys all over the world squuuueeeeeeeeeeee.

Weirdness: I love Subway and appreciate their support but I hope they are paying NBC a TON OF MONEY for the scene they get in this episode because while it isn't terrible, it isn't seamless either... and my sources tell me that they are not paying enough so I am not sure it was worth it.

Funniest line: Either a line about nakedness or a choochoo.

Sexy like a meow meow: Chuck, of course.  Sarah looking gorgeous in one scene in particular.  Wowzies.

Budget cut awareness: Didn't notice any.

Writing: Some great stuff from Zev Borow.  Tons of memorable lines.  We get a good sense of what this show might be like down the line while also retaining humor and romance.

Weak spots: The only thing I would consider a weakness is the setup for what is to come.  It feels like the mashing of a familiar button but is just a setup for the next episode's storyline.  Otherwise, I thought the episode was pretty solid.

Rating: Out of a possible score of 100, where 0 is the worst piece of art in the history of humanity and 100 is the greatest creative thing the world has ever seen... I give CHUCK VERSUS THE FINAL EXAM:

93.34 out of 100
This episode continues the current streak of awesomeness, now at three in a row.
(yes, I updated my rating after watching it again... it rocks even more!)
