This looks awesome! Sarah is wearing her nerd herd outfit =P~ and Todd Packer from The Office!!! Hopefully Todd will get to use his charms on Sarah : )
It will probably have some similarities with Muuurder (the theme being them trying to find out who is the hired killer like they tried to find out who was the bomber in Muuurder)
But in my opinion with Chuck is mostly about execution i mean the story lines are often cliches but if the execution is good the episode turns out to be good
and with Chuck and Sarah undercover at a BM convention this looks like the first episode of the season when Morgansect doesn't get the spot light and that's definitely a improvement
I am also excited to see normal Jeff and how Lester reacts to that : )
In YOUR opinion? Sounds like you are just aping what I've been saying for years. And Morgan not being the focus is an improvement? HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT?
Plus, didn't you just pretend you loved the last episode?
Magnus, you are not the only one worried about this one. I came close to posting a concerned review on the promo about three times but bit my digital tongue.
The preview clip they issued was boring and flat. Maybe the promo gods have not done the episode justice and the episode will be better than it looks.
What was so flat about this 30 sec clip, maybe it wasn't the most exciting, since it was mostly a conversation, but stil?
And i'm just happy they finally moving Sarah from the backseat of the team to where she belongs + some good old Chuck/Sarah in action, since we got very little of that this year...frankly they didn't get good story where they are working a lot together since Wedding Planner. So i hope this episode will be as good as that one was.
The humor(Chuck spitting out the food) was forced and didn't work. Chuck's line "yeah, not your usual husband and wife conversation," made me groan. It was unnecessary. They shouldn't have to tell us what to think of the dialogue or constantly bang us over the head that this is an atypical marriage. We know that.
I wonder who wrote this one.
Lastly, what was said in the dialogue implied Chuck was just the mark and Sarah was the one who would get the assassin.
Like I said, maybe the rest of the episode has better Chuck and Sarah stuff than this scene or the promo.
Yeah it was exposition, but i liked the ending of the scene, because it showed us how professional Chuck/Sarah are and now they are getting down to buisness and will kick some ass.
And what is wrong with Chuck being the mark? He's posing as Morgan who is targeted and Sarah is more experienced agent. It's about time for Sarah to kick some ass, she hasn't had many opportunities this year.
Also, are they going to repeat the sequence from "Angel de la Muerte" where Chuck is told to look out for assassins and he notices in quick cuts from person to person that all the catering staff have knives and dangerous items and his eyes pop out?
It kinda suprises me, wasn't season 1/2 a gold standard for Chuck (for most fans)...and there was mostly Sarah kicking ass, while Chuck was contributing in other ways....while i loved Honeymooners, i don't think it's necessary for them to literally kickass together, to work well with each other.
No, Chuck and Sarah don't literally have to kickass together for them to work well. Take what I said as a general feeling that I want rather than it must literally be.
I explained what didn't work for me in the promo material as well as I could. If it worked for you, cool.
I didn't become a rabid fan of Chuck until the last third of season 2. Until then, I was just a casual viewer. Thus, most of season 1 and 2 aren't my gold standard.
I really got into Chuck when Chuck started showing some progress. The Tron poster moment was very impactful for me.
It's 30 seconds out of what? 45 minutes? It's just as likely that whoever put together the promo doesn't have a feel for the episode or the show as it is that the episode is crap. We shall see soon enough.
I'll bet I could put together a crappy promo for Phase Three or Honeymooners if I put my mind to it. Or if I didn't know the show that well.
Besides, a bunny suit instantly makes everything at least twice as good as no bunny suit. Imagine Donnie Darko without the bunny. The horror...oh, the horror...
Chuck is per-epmted in the greater Detroit area this Friday for some Kind of thanksgiving special . It will air at 1:35 am . Ratings will most likely go down a tick . OR what the hell do I know , they'll probably go up lol
You may see preemptions happening in markets. Affiliates are not forced to run the network's low-rated shows if they can put something on that they can make more money off of. That local Thanksgiving special is something the local affiliate gets all of the advertising revenue for, while they only get a few minutes in Chuck.
Nielsen will account for the 1:35 showing in the final overnights. The early overnights are "time period" ratings. They are only counting "whatever" is on NBC affiliates between 8 and 9PM. The final ones are program ratings and account for cases like Detroit where the show doesn't run from 8 to 9PM.
If what preempts Chuck gets higher ratings in its time period in a big enough market than Chuck would have gotten, it means the early time period overnights overestimate Chuck's rating and it gets adjusted down later when Nielsen accounts for it not really runnin in its normal timeslot.
It is quite funny how a lot of shows have complained over the last 20 years just how terrible NBC is at making promos, lol. Frasiers people kept on complaining how they ruined the best jokes or what have you and NBC ruined the hard salami kiss, the colonel make out scene, other guy (the whole episode)...and loads of other episodes.
Maybe NBC promo people are just trying too hard to have their shows loved...like a desperate single at a bar...not attractive, let your product do the work.
Mangus, why do you still bother with this site? You're clearly no longer a fan of the show. Why don't you just go away a let someone that still likes the show run the site.
The clip they released actually reminded me a bit of Vs. The Suitcase last season. I know a lot of people thought that was kind of a middle-of-the-road episode in S.4, but I kind of liked it and find it to be pretty re-watchable. So with that in mind I'm going to hope for the best and wait until I see the whole thing.
"Mangus, why do you still bother with this site? You're clearly no longer a fan of the show."
LOL! You have got to love people like this... so all the things I have done related to the show, including long write-ups on the other site for the show, not even mentioning the other stuff I do, and I'm no longer a fan of the show?
Let me ask you a question, Anonymous, are you an idiot? Just wondering.
Haven't you heard? You don't like the show anymore because you point out how delusional fans are. It doesn't matter that you do a weekly podcast, article, run this site, twitter account, and put together chuckfest3. You hate the show bro. Accept it.
Other Anonymous, I now see the error of my ways. Clearly I haven't done enough... clearly I didn't gush ENOUGH about the last episode... or the one before that one... or even the one before that.
I am no longer a fan because... well, it makes no sense but some anonymous douche said it so... now I hate the show.
Whatever people say about NBC (their promos may suck, there ratings may be dismal) no one can forget that they as a network are at the top of emmy wins and most critics today say that most of their favourite shows are no NBC. Mo Ryan mentioned that in her open letter to Bob and Sepinwall mentions that all the time too. It is network closest to cable quality television.
This looks awesome! Sarah is wearing her nerd herd outfit =P~ and Todd Packer from The Office!!!

See, I was thinking the episode had a Coup D'Etat feel to it. I was thinking maybe Newman wrote it. Who wrote Muurder?
ReplyDeleteThe clip itself just felt very middle of the season filler like. Hpefully it will be fun.

ReplyDeleteSiemon--
ReplyDeleteJust my reasons that the promos or the clip (not shown here) didn't thrill me.
When it comes to Chuck and Sarah working together, I hold up Honeymooners as the standard. Light, breezy, fun, equals, kicking ass together.
Maybe you hit the nail on the head, when you say "down to business". That's how the clip was.
Your mileage may vary. I'm just responding to what's in this material. Maybe they saved the good stuff for the episode.
AdriaN'S: I don't respond to any of your questions, particularly because you badly misquote me. Ask someone else.
Adrian, you are so full of crap... I think I am going to go back to just deleting your comments.
ReplyDeleteAlso, are they going to repeat the sequence from "Angel de la Muerte" where Chuck is told to look out for assassins and he notices in quick cuts from person to person that all the catering staff have knives and dangerous items and his eyes pop out?
ReplyDeletemaybe the episode will be better than it looks.
ReplyDeleteIt's just a promo.
I've seen promos for television shows and movies that looked awesome but they turned out to be really crappy and vice versa.
Phil Klemmer is touting this episode as being a very good one.

Pollyanna Jim
I loved promo and I think I will love the episode more than promo...
ReplyDeleteChuck's life is in danger...I'm worried!!!
Thanks for explaining how promos work, Jim! Never knew you could edit it to make something good look crappy!
ReplyDeleteI am a genius at making good things look crappy. It's a rare and precious gift, and I use it only for the good of mankind.
ReplyDeleteJim
Besides, a bunny suit instantly makes everything at least twice as good as no bunny suit. Imagine Donnie Darko without the bunny. The horror...oh, the horror...

The dialog does sound quite forced. I don´t necessarily dislike the setup, though.
ReplyDeleteAnd I expect Chuck will end up being instrumental in taking down the attacker, but I wouldn´t mind, if it would be just Sarah either.

No, Gina... that's not it.
ReplyDeletePromos have one job...getting casual viewers who may or may not watch to watch.
ReplyDeleteLetting those casual viewers know that something "special" is in a particular episode is considered a way to get those people to watch.
It may ruin the surprise for hardcore fans who are going to watch anyway, but its intended to bring in the person who may have blown the episode off.

CHUCKGASMIC IS OVER! Nothing to see here!
I think you got trolled.
ReplyDeleteThe dialogue may be flat, but Sarah Walker in a Nerd herd uniform is a thing to watch for.
ReplyDeletemaybe you should consider that IP ban Magnus. it's more likely that the troll is one person.
anti-trolls
I think this is the first promo you were looking for.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8CBuWBK6L4
With 50% of the audience now being female(and I'm one of them), the episode has to be providing more than just Sarah in that uniform to be good.
ReplyDeleteMaybe that's why I noticed the dialogue more than you guys did.

Jim
As I like to say, NBC has the best shows on TV... which is why America doesn't watch.
