  1. My dream choice, Kim Basinger.

  2. Basinger would be interesting since she would fit the requirements... and be a nice callback to the pilot episode.

  3. Just IMDB'd Basinger. She is in the right age range. I didn't realize she's 3 years older than Linda Hamilton.

My first thought was Cybill Shepherd, but I like the callback aspect to Basinger.

  4. Vicki Vale, Vicki Vale!!! Kim Basinger FTW!

If they don't get her, I would vote for Cheryl Ladd. She still looks amazing and seems super nice.

  5. Goldie Hawn?
    Shelly Long ?
    Jeri Ryan ?

    Sigourney Weaver FTW !

  6. Even though she is only 38, you could make Portia de Rossi look older and have her play Sarah's mom.

  7. Anonymous, I think Goldie and Shelly are too damn old. Sarah's mom shouldn't be 50 yet, much less 60.

  8. Peggy Lipton. Maybe a few years too late though.

  9. Sarah is 30 right? So you would figure her mom is at least mid 50s. Depending on the actress, she could probably be played by someone 45 to 65.

  10. Let's just say Sarah is at least as old as Yvonne, 29. So, her mother may have had her young... say 19... which would make her mom as young as 48 and maybe as old as 55.

  11. I think I am going to start dropping comments for actors over 70 into the spam box!

  12. Theda Bara!

(Does dead count as being over 70?)

  13. Woohoo! First lifetime ban!

Michelle Pfeiffer. She's not Vickie Vale, but she is Selina Kyle, which is close enough.

  14. We can't get her... she is an A-class actor.

  15. I foresee this disappointing some people no matter who they get, and how they write it. It's been 5 years of thinking up this character's backstory for alot of fans and probably not nearly as long for the writers.

I hope this turns out awesome, and I hope they've put more than a little thought into it.

  16. Sarah's mom should be on Dancing With the Loser Nobodies and have a nip slip and that is how Sarah finds out where she is.

  17. That would probably make about as much sense as a woman who is a "walking hug" letting her kid be raised by a con man.

I hope I'm proven wrong for being so cynical about this story but...track record.

  18. Surely it depends on context. Suppose the "walking hug" is enough of an irresponsible flake that even the con-man dad was a better parental option. I don't imagine Sarah spent all of her childhood with dad or grandma, so picture her as a middle-school student having to basically care for the "walking hug". Sort of like Ellie having to run the Bartowski household after Mary left and Stephen went nuts. That could lead to a load of resentment.

By the way, Chuck and Ellie have absolutely horrible parents. I'd take Jack Burton over either of them any day.

  19. Your right Jim, context will make or break the story. I just hope its not as paper thin as the reasoning for the abandonment of Chuck and Ellie.

They really did have terrible, terrible parents.

  20. I think in season 2 Chuck said that Sarah was 28...coming to season 5 I think she could be roughly 30/31. Plus did Sarah not mention that her parents were going to get engaged....it is not clear if she was born then or not so maybe her mum is 55-65. As for her mom...why would they want to make her a walking hug? I wonder how they can reconcile so much history in a 13 episode arc...I think this is going to be a laugh...as in a feel good thing, lol. Just like Chucks mom, hey I abandoned you 20 years ago but all is forgiven...lets do the hussle! lol.

  21. Sarah was part of the high school graduating class of 1998. So, if she was 18 then, she would be 31 now. But we have no idea if that was her real age anyway since she had already changed her name and perhaps age several times. So, she could be any age within that range.

Her mom could be 45-55 and it would still be believable.

  22. Yeah the whole "walking hug" thing is really making this hard to reconcile for me. The theory that she wound up sort of taking care of her flakey mom ala Ellie might make some sense. Also, in regards to the age thing I too always used the class of 1998 date stamp and presumed that if anything when she was changing her name/age over the years that Sarah would have rounded up ie. she was really 17 when she graduated, because what kid would not want to make themselves older? Plus, from the flashbacks, being tall and whatnot she probably had the look for it to be believable that she was older as opposed to younger. I'd probably lean more toward the early to mid 50's in casting mom, but they could certainly go as low as 45 and be believable

  23. " I wonder how they can reconcile so much history in a 13 episode arc"

This show has reconciled longrunning threads in a scene. (Example: Ellie learning Chuck was still a spy)

It may not have be good reconciliation, but they do it.

I can see them doing it in less than an episode.

  24. I'm a bit disappointed that we'll never meet any of Casey's family members.....aside from Alex. It would have been nice to learn what kind of an environment he grew up in. Did he come from a military family, or did he rebel against a liberal upbringing? Oh well.

A candidate for Sarah's mom? Though I know it would never happen, I actually think Olivia Newton-John would be a good choice. She and Yvonne look like they could be mother and daughter.

  25. Olivia Newton-John is not a bad choice.

  26. "Olivia Newton-John is not a bad choice."

OK, at the risk of further lifetime banning, if the 63 year old Olivia Newton-John is fair game, I am renominating Peggy Lipton.

They both have Chuckesque pop-culture creds, but who do we really want as Sarah's mom? The kick-ass (for the time) Julie from the Mod Squad or Sandy from Grease?

  27. I know it's not age appropriate but i think 'Snooki' from Jersey shore could be great for the role !!

  28. You just earned your first LIFETIME BAN!!!!!

  29. What ? can't we all take a moment and appreciate Snooki ?:) she got some skills u know..

  30. Oky, oky going for #3 ! Since today is Zac's birthday Happy Birthday Zachary Levi !!! and i`l make sure i`l book you a date with Snooki !!! :)

  31. I think it would be funny if Sarah's mom was pretty, but very overweight. When I first read the "big hug" thing that's what I thought of. A big woman with ample bosom who grabs people and hugs them.

It would be funny because (a) none of the fans are guessing anything like that and (b) it just would be a contrast/surprise to what Sarah looks like.

But, I can't think of an actress--someone kinda like Sharon Gless, but a little younger.

    ReplyDelete
  32. ...continuing that thought.

If she hadn't just lost 100 lbs., Kirstie Alley would have been what I have in mind.
