15 May UPDATE: CHUCK RENEWED.
Nope. Not even a little bit. What? TVByTheNumbers does this every day. Why can't I?
Now, click here and ask questions for the next "Dear DR" blog.
Also, check out the last couple of CYT podcast episodes (explicit content).

Not cool, man. My heart almost dropped through my butt.
ReplyDeleteLet's hug!
ReplyDeleteand that's why I stopped following tvbythenumbers...
ReplyDeletePeople are always telling me how they have unfollowed me or stopped reading my blog or stopped listening to the podcast. So why do the numbers keep going up?! ;)
ReplyDeleteohh you guys. you did not fool me.
ReplyDeleteI hate you! I will unfollow you and never read your blog again! Also I'm a nielsen viewer and will never watch Chuck again because of this!!
ReplyDeleteI actually have been asking myself why it took you so long for another blog entry like that. :)
Bob
i felt my heart stopped for a second... dont know what im gonna do if this is real :(
ReplyDeleteI HATE YOU RIGHT BACK, Bob! If that even is your name!
ReplyDeleteOn a more serious note, one of the Nielsen families I discovered back during season 3 told me yesterday that they are no longer in the system. This was a downer since they were in a major city and counted for a few hundred thousand viewers in the 18-49 demo.
Okay, mate, listen here. My right brain took the Twitter post and flipped the words around so it read CHUCK HAS BEEN CANCELLED rather than HAS CHUCK BEEN CANCELLED. So I started crying, nearly pissed myself, then almost died of a heart attack. No joke here. Then my left brain stepped in and was like, Dude, calm down. It says Has Chuck Been Cancelled. Stop freaking out. So I would like to thank you for my near-death experience. I think I saw every episode of Chuck play through my mind in two seconds. Love, Meagan
ReplyDeleteOh man every time I see your posts I think the sky is falling in Burbank. Good thing its just the rain today.
ReplyDeleteSee, this was a good practice run for when I post the real thing tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteCancellation would suck 100x's because Fringe pulling 1.3 on Friday gets renewed but Chuck is left to bleed a slow death on Monday's. Man the fact that Fox did this pisses me off. Twitter is all yay! Fringe. STFD lol
ReplyDeleteThanks for the fire drill now I won't freak out when NBC actually pulls the plug. :-(
First off, FRINGE is on Fridays where you are expected to pull some crappy ratings. And you shouldn't be unhappy because its fans are happy. If someone's happiness makes you unhappy, perhaps you don't deserve to be happy.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow? Will there be a decision made?
ReplyDeleteOn the other note, good for Fringe and its fans, didn't expect that one.
Bob
Bob, no. I was just going for another heart attack.
ReplyDeleteJ says ...
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty funny that you put out the HAS CHUCK BEEN CANCELED , then 30 minutes later Fringe gets renewed for a FULL 22 episode season . The Fringe news honestly shocked me . I like that FOX has shown some commitment to moving a fan favorite show to Friday nights and giving it some backing . HOPEFULLY NBC will take notice with regards to Chuck . I would think Warner Bros would be more willing to take a hit on Chuck considering it's episode count .
J, of course there is no coincidence. I knew the announcement was coming so I decided to capitalize on it by engaging the fandom with the thought that CHUCK might not be renewed, thereby re-energizing the masses during this 3-week break.
ReplyDeleteI am an evil genius like that.
my goodness! that really caught me. brilliant strategy Magnus..i hope it works. international viewers can't be of any help regarding the ratings..wish i could be an American like these times for Chuck! Great Show ever.
ReplyDeleteI am your hero.
ReplyDeleteBased on responses to my tweets tonight... I am slightly surprised by how thickheaded some people are.
ReplyDeleteI have never met fans who is faithful to chuck deadly!! I think I am one of them. People should see this dependence!! We love CHUCK. We want to save our show!! We can do anything to save our show. Be cause We are CHUCK FANS!!!
ReplyDeleteFaithful to CHUCK deadly?
ReplyDeleteI am not sure I have ever heard someone suggest that their love for a show is deadly... and for it to mean something positive.
FYI, no. You can't do "anything" to save the show. Seriously, washing your feet for CHUCK is not going to save it. Drinking milk for CHUCK is not going to do it either. Killing puppies for CHUCK is probably going to work to our disadvantage. So, anything won't do. Watching the show LIVE will help.
Gotta admit I lol'd here, Magnus. People don't respect your sense of humor, methinks.
ReplyDeleteThen they are stupid.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who did not have a heart attack? I read the headline as a question and knew this was classic Magnus :)
ReplyDeleteI am happy for Fringe: it is a smart show, and I love John Noble. Plus: they have a cow. But, hey Fox, where was this kind of thinking when Firefly was on? Well, years go by and I still can't forgive Rupert Murdoch (there is a bit Sheldon Cooper in me). Though I must acknowledge that Firefly's cancellation gave us Col. John Casey and Richard Castle, so...well, I can forgive him a little.
It is too bad they are not canceling CHUCK. I would get so many hits...
ReplyDeleteI mean we love our show very much!!
ReplyDeleteYou mean "they are not cancelling CHUCK...YET";)
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad we're loosing the Hulu poll also.
I know it's useless, still it pisses me off.
And since I'm in France, there's nothing else I can do.
It's good to follow your posts man.
French
I cant imagine a world w/o Chuck. Ahhhhhhhhhhh!
ReplyDeleteMagnus you blew it !!!
ReplyDeleteI thought for sure you would wait until April 1st to post this. (think about it people)
TS
TS, see... that would have been predictable. Just when you think you can predict what I am going to do, I don't. :)
ReplyDeleteFrench, what Hulu poll did FRINGE win? Polls are stupid.
I'm flying out to LAX tonight to get to the bottom of this. Somebody meet me at the airport. I'll be the guy in the Emmy4Yvonne Tshirt and BuyMore cap, be there about 9. Oh, and donate to CYT podcast because Magnus is paying my way (I'll bill you). Details tomorrow. Yep, Magnus chartered me a 737-800 with CFM56-7 engines and 27,300 lb thrust each (Aviation Nerd).
ReplyDelete737-800 = -63
ReplyDeleteP.S.
Why would I put you up in a non-fly-by-wire aircraft? Seems so cheap of me.
Why you! I oughta!
ReplyDeleteStill got me for a second. Even though I'm expecting the show to go bye byes, I still got that little sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach.
I saw somewhere that NBC are planning to show the final five eps as one continous block which I think is a good thing.
I think I quit.

WTF? Sorry, I don't want to be disrespectful, but:
1. Where does this info come from?
2. Why the heck would anyone want to air 5 episodes in a row?
3. How on earth would this be a good thing?
I really don't get any of this...is it only me? If so, could someone please explain me the logics of this?
Ok, now I am expecting that some other fansite starts writing that Ellie will be intersected, Orion is indeed alive living in Chuck's secret basement, Casey marries Kathleen, oh, and Morgan gets intersected to. And that the Shaw arc was only a dream. And that Sarah reunites with her mom, sister, and granma too. And that Jeffster ends up on the top of the charts. And world peace (I know this last sentence doesn't make much sense, but it is meant to be read in a beauty-pageant-style, with the silly, broad smile).
So when Chuck gets picked up by a cable network are you going to share your poll with them for improving the ratings???
ReplyDeleteLOL :)
Mamemomonutjob, he meant five episodes in a row without a week off.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, when a cable network picks CHUCK up? Is that before or after Josh Schwartz hires me to fetch him coffee?
ReplyDeleteOh, good. @eaglemoomin: sorry for the perhaps harsh words.
ReplyDeleteMy brain is really tired, I should stop writing. I am sleep deprived, eating too little, drinking too much coffee, working a lot, writing my phd and waiting to hear about the show's fate. I have to sleep.
Hey, Magnus, could you please post some spoilers?
FYI--
ReplyDeleteAll of NBC's Thursday comedies outrated Chuck this week, except for Outsourced. Even Perfect Couples beat it with a 1.6 up against the 2nd half of American Idol.
4.20 has been confirmed by NBC to air 4/11 then a week off again and the final 4 together. I think the reason is that 4/11 is the premier of the revamped LOLA and they didn't want another 0.6 rated repeat leading in. So they are airing a new episode instead.
ReplyDeleteYeah I heard they are canceling Chuck but making a spinoff about Shaw. In the series finale in May they are bringing him back and killing Chuck off. The entire show(which will be named the shaw shank intersection) will be about how Shaw wins the grieving Sarah aka Sam over to his loving arms. Yeah, I heard it from a source of a source.
ReplyDeleteAll of NBC's Thursday night comedies usually have a decent night when there is new Office episode . Last week Office repeat , ALL of NBC Thursday night comedies had series lows other than Perfect couples . This week a new Office and ALL of them were up other than outsourced . Coincidence ? Maybe . P&R in all it's brilliance is heavily dependent on it's lead in ( 1.8 to a 2.4 ) . Which thankfully it's on at 9:30 and already renewed . All of the Thursday comedies with exception to the office would be canceled on any other network period .
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, if that even is your name, P&R would most likely be renewed on ABC. Also, FOX has demonstrated that they are willing to renew shows that are below their ratings index (HUMAN TARGET last season, FRINGE this season). So, to say that on any other network, everything on Thursday would be gone, just isn't accurate. Not to mention that were NBC doing better as a network, more people would be tuning in to see the promotions for their other shows, which would increase overall ratings.
