  1. Left you a tweet via my twitter account just now, but leaving a comment here to say thanks for what you've done for the show in general, and it's fans. It's really cool work that you do here, and I dunno if 'thank you' is really enough, but at the moment, it's all I have, haha.

I'm not burying Chuck yet because it's found ways to surprise me (how many bubble shows do you know from season to season has survived this long, after all?), so I've still got hope.

As a standalone ep, this episode wasn't..terrible, and honestly, it was better than the Vivian episode. Then again, anything's better than that.

  2. Thanks for the kind words. And we definitely shouldn't write the obituary yet... but I suggest people prepare themselves and lose their delusions. ;)

  3. I know folks on both side of the fence. Some think it's doomed and there's nothing that can be done that would save it, while others think there's no way NBC would cancel it since they don't really have much else to air on Monday.

My stance? I'm in the middle. Yeah.. the ratings aren't looking good, and it hasn't shown signs of picking up more viewers, and then NBC isn't exactly that.. uh.. smart? So I could see them canceling everything and starting from scratch.

So yeah. My thoughts on this are just to enjoy every episode we have left, and think of nothing else to do with renewing or cancellation.

  4. It isn't doomed yet... but there is nothing we can do to save it other than watching the show live... provided that we are Nielsen viewers.

  5. Thanks for the podcast and I agree: burying no, preparing yes.

Also, do you think the poll that is currently running on hulu could have the slightest impact on NBC?
I saw you tweet it and I know you usually say that polls like this are pretty much pointless. Same opinion about this one?

  6. Bob, the Hulu poll will have ZERO impact on NBC's decision making. But Hulu is a major site so it could get a few people to check the show out live if they see it won. Still, it is unlikely that it will affect the ratings in any meaningful way.

  7. FWIW, I think the show will hover in the 1.5-1.6 ratings area for the rest of the season provided the story takes off a bit from this point.

If the last few episodes are promoted as wedding episodes--which always give the series in question bumps ala The Office--it might defray any decreases I might otherwise expect in May.

But, NBC's decision will be made before the last episode airs.

  8. IF it is promoted as a wedding episode...

  9. That's a big if. Fedak's non-committal comments are appropriate for a show runner but for a show promoter like Schwartz's side of the equation maybe promoting the final arc as the battle to get them to the altar would be beneficial for the shows ratings. I'm not convinced that the ratings for 1 or 2 episodes will be the deciding factor as I think that will be based on how the Pilots look but it couldn't hurt to maybe get them back to 1.7-1.8 territory. As was pointed out The Office is promoting the proposal like crazy and have done it with other things in the past. Chuck needs to do more than just a mention of the Wedding site at the tail end of a few episodes.

  10. Magnus,
Thank you for all your efforts!
I look forward to any relief from the three week lack of Chuck the only TV show I watch on NBC

  11. There was even Sarah side? As i felt both her and Casey were really sidelined in this episode...so had barely anything to do.

  12. Hola Amigo - Just wondering if you can remind me,
What happened to Podcast episode 62?
I know you mentioned it briefly at the start of PC 63... but I didn't catch everything you said.

  13. Perhaps some day I will tell you what happened to the missing podcasts (62 would be one of them), but not until CHUCK is finally over. So, perhaps in two months or two years. ;)

  14. NBC is re-airing Chuck VS First Class April 4th. WTF?? That is a really bizarre choice.

  15. I just wanted to say thank you for the podcast and for always being that honest about anything Chuck.

  16. There was an article about Fringe's Friday rating over on TVBTN where they and everybody else has it at 1.3 , but FOX research has it at 1.4 due to people ( nielsen homes ) DVR-ing the episode and watching it multiple times as you suggested on your save chuck post . TVBTN and other sites apparently don't get that information but I suspect the networks do because they pay for it. So basically I guess some of Chuck's numbers could be adjusted as such if our fans are doing the same thing . .

  17. I at the point now i prepared for it to be the last but also i be sad if it gone but also it will be a bit of relief. Cause do not have to put up with the rating bull crap no more. I love the show but tired of the always worrying about it not coming back. Once chuck is over i can move on and never watch TV show anymore. Least i never get involved like I have with Chuck anymore

  18. On the mention of Episode 62 of the podcast... I actually remember that podcast, Haha. Though I dunno if you pulled it down for the reason I'm thinking.

Either way.. the choice to air Chuck vs First Class is a bit of an odd one.

  19. The only podcast I ever pulled was 7.386. I will upload it again some day. :)

First Class is a great introduction episode for anyone who doesn't watch the show.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I agree that the first class is a good choice for bring people in but I think they should do episodes of this season maybe do the first episode of this season and the one that just happen so then they people that have been missing chuck will know what is happening

  21. I'm just glad NBC is showing any Chuck episode rather than trying some other program on for the Monday time slot.
