  1. With Ali Adler gone, do you think that the Sarah/Chuck relationship will be portrayed differently in season 4?

  2. Megan, I don't think they are going to mess with the Chuck and Sarah relationship much. They will likely toss in problems for them but progress the relationship to the next level by the end of the 13 episode run. I don't know that for a fact but it makes logical sense based on how much they moved the story forward in season 3.

  3. Hi Magnus,

I loved your podcast and I totally agree on your teams views on how people react to the actors on this show and their personal lives. For me I do not get it, when I view a tv show I see it as a piece of art that a set of people are putting out there whether it be writers, producers or actors. If I do not like it I do not buy the DVD or "painting". I would never call up the artist and critize him, I do not get people who do that, let these people live in peace in their private lives, is my view. I just wish I knew where people get the audacity to actually act or behave in this way.

  4. Hi Magnus,

I agree with you on the chuck and sarah relationship, what actually suprised me is how after they got together quickly progressed from honeymooners onwards. I mean man both chuck and sarah have thrown their lot in to be together. They told each other love each other, moved in and said that they see a future after their spy lives are over. It is amazing it took 3 years to get together and then wow bang they show show some real commitment and move forward quickly. Do you think that moving fast like that is abad thing, I mean I have heard your podcasts before saying sometimes they move on things too quickly when they could go slower, do you think they did this with chuck and sarah or they were just repaying the fans faith?

  5. Some people are extremely selfish and feel they are OWED something for supporting an actor or movie. They fail to see that they are not owed anything.

As for the Chuck and Sarah relationship moving too quickly... well, yes. They did move it forward too quickly but that is only because they had no idea whether or not the show would still be around after 48 or 54 episodes. So, there is no going back and changing it unless you split them up. I like them together and still look forward to seeing them get engaged and eventually married.... and then maybe some kids. :)

  6. Oh magnus you say your not a shipper but you have a heart of gold and a soft spot for chuck and sarah. I do agree with you chuck and sarah are amazing together, the moments between them as you say on your podcasts have been very sweet and tender and allowed for not only you but the rest of us pine for hannah, lol. I am in agreement with you on bringing back all the previous guest stars just to see their reaction at the development of the characters and that includes roan, cole, jill, lou, jack burton, etc. Just to see their reactions, but to be honest I actually think Roan or Cole would be suprised by chuck getting sarah they actually encouraged him and thought he could do it.

  7. I do not think they moved Chuck and Sarah together to quickly. The first season was getting to know each other and feeling the atraction the second season was deepening the feelings with Chuck knowing he loved Sarah and Sarah finally giving into love and her emotions only thinking she was dumped in the " Pink Slip" this sent Sarah on a emotional roller coaster knowing deep down that she loved Chuck for who he was when they met. As Chuck became a spy she saw the good the bad and the ugly. The ugly overshadowed her feelings for Chuck with her heart saying she loved Chuck but her mind saying wait. Remember Shaw was in the game and if he wanted Sarah what better way than to discredit Chuck than to have Chuck go against what Chuck believed. Sarah gave in to love with Chuck in the "American Hero". They confirmed their love in the "Honeymooners " and quickly moved forward because they had already established that they belonged together. Yes the next step is Marriage and Family.
I adore Yvonne for putting to rest the ney sayers by tweeting she will try to attend both Comic Con and her Doggie rescue charity event.
She is such a sweet woman I am looking to seeing more of her.

  8. Bree, I think you misunderstand me. I mean that they moved the romantic relationship FORWARD too quickly. If they had time, they would have slowly built on them being boyfriend and girlfriend... waited half a season or more for them to say "I love you" and then after a few episodes, or another half season, moved them in together.

    ReplyDelete
  9. No I understand you, I just disagree with you. If it wasn't for Morgan they would have been romantic in the Colonel, then in the three words, Chuck professed his love while Carina told Chuck that Sarah loved him and in the bar Sarah did not deny the Love. Look at how Sarah looks at Chuck in all S3 episodes except " the American Hero" but there Chuck said ILY and Sarah was going to run away with Chuck. The Honeymooners they agreed to run away {elope?) so moving in together is not a streatch, I expected them to become engaged in the ring II but that did not happen. But......I see your point had they said I love you in the mask then in the American hero moved in together put Morgan with Hannah and Shaw with a pit bull it would have played better.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Bree, I know you say you understand me... but you are still arguing a different idea. I mean that from the point they were put together, they moved the relationship forward very quickly, where had they known a 4th season was guaranteed, they would not have.

I only say that because I have no doubt they would not have moved it forward that quickly had they known they had a 4th season. :)

  11. In reality... They would have 'been together' after Colonel. Hell, in reality the would have started dating in 2.01 and gotten serious by 2.03.

The fact is Magnus they have been emotionally linked together and attracted to each other for two seasons prior to them making it official. They have been no doubt in love with each other since at least Delorean. So to say they have moved too fast rings hollow to me and it makes me think you need to watch season 2 again.

    Cheers,

    HJ

  12. Magnus, I think the point Bree is trying to make is that while Chuck and Sarah's relationship in S1 & S2 was "fake," it really wasn't. So the point is they already have 2 years of having "dated" each other, so the back 6 was merely the culmination of those 2 years. I do get your point, though, of the quick succession of relationship gates that they hit in the back 6.

  13. I wasn't because of Morgan, It was because the showrunners were not comfortable with them getting together at the time.

  14. Diane, I rejected the comment but am interested to see if my "logic" matches with yours. ;)

HJ, you are officially banned for life.

Paul, it is one thing to want to date... it is another thing to actually date.

  16. Hi Magnus,

It is amazing how many people have taken offence to my original post about saying that they moved chuck and sarah too quickly after they got together but ok. I just hope that the creators have at least learnt from what you said in your previous podcasts and that they keep the team together and do not waste 2 or 3 episodes of trying to get chuck and the team on the same page. I just hope, I mean really hope that the first scene of season 4 is chuck, sarah, casey and morgan doing an orion mission and maybe some flashbacks to how he brought them in on the secret, because man the chemistry between all the actors is there they just cannot, cannot keep all of them apart not on the same page, that would be terrible. What do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Amrit, I think they will start season 4 as if four months have passed since the end of season 3. Does that mean that Team B will be working as one unit? Don't know. I can see several ways they could make it work. However, by the end of the first episode, I am sure they will all be working toward the same goal.

  18. Hi Magnus,

Thanks for your quick response, also a request from my girfriend, she says that if you know anyone on the show that does wardrobe can you please tell them to dress chuck up more. She said that he looked so hot in Delorean in that suit and the clothes they put him in do not do him any justice at all, so if you can, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Amrit, I don't know anyone in wardrobe but I am sure people from the show read these comments so... you probably delivered the message to someone on the show. :)

Hopefully someone listened to your comments about Yvonne's makeup too.

  21. That's good news. That means they fired Yvonne's make up artist already. In Yvonne's case, LESS IS BETTER

  22. Hi Magnus,

I know by the end of episode 1 of season 4 (well I am guessing) that the team of chuck, sarah, casey and morgan will be back together fighting mission on behalf of orion. But I still cannot get out of my head how Ellie could just order chuck to give up something that still was a huge part of his life, even though their dad had died, he could have died by being a cop or any other method, would she just then say chuck quit the police force. She knew that chuck and sarah did this job together and he had done great things, I mean if someone had told her that he is not the same guy as 3 years ago and that he has now got a woman he loves and that loves him and is there for the long haul, that he has saved thousands of lives by taking down two major organisations in the ring and fulcrum and he has great friends in casey and beckman (well she did seem to have a lot of respect of him in the end the way she was sticking up for the team at the conference) and he has respect from the spy community then maybe she would not be such a nag. My point is how much fulfillment can you get in life if you are living the life that someone else makes you live. Ellie has got to stop trying to make chuck live a life that she is comfortable with and one that he should be happy with I mean when she did Dr's without Boarders these Dr's go in war torn areas in Africa and he said go ahead with my blessing it was her choice and that was dangerous and he could not protect her. So maybe it is time that she just lets go and let him be the man he wants to be, to be fair he has not been making bad decisions lately (Sarah), it took time but he is at a place where he is happy and everything is good, come on ellie just back off.

  23. Jake, everyone who makes this argument forgets one little thing... their dad had JUST DIED. Plus, Chuck is a guy who values family above most things. He did not want to see his sister hurt any more than she already was and so he gave in without much of a fight. He looks at her as a parent figure... and in that moment she was the only blood relative he had left (who had not abandoned him).

Of course, this promise won't last long as he will be deep in the spy world again in season 4.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Magnus said - "Paul, it is one thing to want to date... it is another thing to actually date."

But see, that's the thing. In a wierd way, throughout S1/2 they actually WERE dating...sorta. We see it in all of their double dates and family time. Sarah and Chuck are together and being themselves. I don't think Sarah was faking it during those times (and remember she did say "it never felt like work"). This is one of the reasons why Chuck was so confused by her. One minute it seems so real (because in a way it is) the next she's putting up the wall...when we all know it's not what she wants to do. It also explains Sarah's unease and nervousness around him during "fake dates". She likes him, she likes being with him, but can't make it obvious and has to maintain the professional barrier.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Paul, the writers would not have moved the relationship forward as quickly as they did had they known they would have 19 episodes in season 3... and known they had a 4th season. So, the lack of security forced their hand.

You are arguing the reality of how something could or would happen, or what it would mean to these characters. This is not reality. :)

  26. Hi Magnus,

I am not trying to be contraversal but just want to broaden my knowledge. Do you know why some fans are obsessed with trying to work out when sarah fell in love with chuck or when chuck fell in love with sarah. Why do they analyse every single facial expression of the actors in every scene, for me I just watch to enjoy because it is a "show" and when sarah and chuck both in their own way said they have loved each other from the start that is good enough for me. Man these type of anaysis is too creepy, sorry, but it is, people it is a show, come on, if a character says something just go with it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I am cool with over-analysis as it indicates people are passionate about the show they love. However, in this case, I was talking about writer choices and not character choices or believability. This season would have been written very differently had they known they had 19 episodes, or a 4th season. No doubt about it.

We are actually fortunate that the show is on the bubble all the time or Chuck and Sarah would still be pining for each other from a distance.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hi Magnus,

What I meant is that even though sarah said in other guy that she loved him from the start, fans still are trying to work out what episode she showed it, maybe it was hard salami, maybe it was end of truth when she was jealous, etc. Or they will say oh that is not true because how can someone be so mean to another person they love they way she kept him for a distance. Or why when she said to the Dr that she loved chuck she was shaking her head in a no fashion to show that she did not believe what she was saying, you see where this is going, lol. As I said creepy, lol.

  30. Hi Magnus,

I just heard your podcast about the lost finale, I totally agree with you, for me it was always about the characters and the emotion I had when I watched them interact. For me the best parts of lost were Charlies death, oh how beautiful and poetic and heart wrecnhing. Desmonds call to penny or in the finale I actually shed a tear when jack said to Hurley I believe in you, what an epic series and an epic end to one of my favourite shows and a perfect ending for me they are all together.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hi Magnus,

I heard your episode 34 podcast on the finale, at the end you said they could have brought cole back because he had chemistry with yvonne, if they had I would actually have been worried for chuck, he would have had next to know chance of winning sarah back, so finally a silver lining to the whole shaw/sarah saga, compared to shaw chuck was made to look like bond, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Daniel, you hit on pretty much my favorite moments in the series.

Jake, Sarah is in love with Chuck, not Cole. Cole never had a chance. Did you watch Chuck Versus The Lethal Weapon?!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hi Magnus,

You are right Sarah always picked chuck, fair play to her, she always picked chuck and the show is the better for it because as you said I enjoyed Honeymooners, I enjoyed her telling him I love you and the spy will. But what I really enjoyed the most (Ok I am lying I loved the end of honeymooners) but I loved there trip to the farmers market, that was sweet.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Well to be fair Magnus, Cole didn't have a chance back in Lethal Weapon. If he reappeared in S3 and was used as a LI instead of Shaw, he likely WOULD have stood a chance with a sad, vulnerable, newly single Sarah. I think that was Jake's point.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Except Sarah picked Shaw because she could never love him. :) A girl's heart only goes one way.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think Magnus is right Sarah made her choice in the pilot episode that she loved chuck, in season 3 they could have brought Bryce back from the dead, cole, a young sean connery bond and the best looking guy's in the world for sarah and she would still have chosen chuck. The girl wanted her chuck, :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hi Magnus,

Another point that I found always interesting is that no matter how nice cole, bryce and shaw may have been when trying to woo sarah, they were just full of pick up lines, it took cole mostly two episodes to finally get to the point where we could see him being honest with sarah as to why he wanted something with her. With Chuck he was honest at first and I do not think he ever gave her a classic pick up line in their pilot date, he just was open and honest about his life and family, he unlike the rest was willing to put himself out there emotionally. There is some substance to chuck, also when ever sarah was vulnerable most guys are douches and would make a move to kiss a girl like shaw did in fake name, chuck neve did that, kudos to chuck.

  38. Hi Magnus,

Just a quick question, a thought occured to me in chuck versus the subway, the CIA conference were trying to say that operation Bartowski or the intersect project had not lived upto expectation. Now the way I see it Chuck, Casey and Sarah had taken down fulcrum, siezed over a billion dollars in revenues, captured the ring director and taken one of the most deadly assasins in the world, and there are a tonne of more example of the excellent work they did, so how did they not live upto expectations? when they did what other agents/teams could not. Or is it that chuck is not a killer who can work independently yet?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Daniel, I think the government wanted an assassin, not just a normal field agent.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hi Magnus,

I just had a thought, I know dangerous for me but still, I noticed that carina in three words referenced the charm bracelet and sarah had knowledge that she had the bracelet and still was not going to give it up for anything in this world. So when fans were freaking out this season about the whole chuck and sarah relationship people should have known that chuck and sarah would be ok in season 3 no matter how bad the romance between sarah and shaw got and man was it awkward and bad and i felt like throwing up, it was the first time i felt sorry for shaw, not losing his wife but him being terrible in the romance department. If Sarah had really gotten over chuck she would have given him back the bracelet and said move on and give it to someone who you really love. Sarah did not do that she always in the back of her mind had a hope that she would still have her chuck one day. What do you think?
