  2. Magnus,
    Another great podcast.

Question: Of the next four episodes, (First bank of Evil, A_TEAM, Muuurder, Family Volkoff) which one are you most excited / looking forward to?

  3. minus that ghastly horse chase scene, I thought the episode was pretty good.

Next week looks awesome. Getting a 1.7 is disappointing. But Zac's performance at the oscars sunday has to reel in some viewers. I'm predicting a 1.9 or a 2 next week.

  4. I am not sure which one of those I am most excited for... A-Team has an interesting story line.

  5. You know Charah trended on twitter. That is freakin hillarious.

  6. Charah trending just goes to show that things naturally trend sometimes... and that trending has no impact on ratings. :)

  7. They actually cut out a scene where Sarah and Morgan played video games!?!?! WHY GOD? WHY? Get rid of that gosh awful horse scene (that was so fake). I still thought the ep was good, but definately not my fave, all thanks to the editors for cutting out Sarah and Morgan playing video games. That scene would have been so funny. Oh well. At lest we got to see Sarah play with the action figures. rofl But still. Bad job editing people. I think they need you Magnus to start editig the show. lol

  8. Brittany, technically that would be the producers' decision so... unless they make me a show runner, I can't stop such things from happening.

  9. Cool podcast.

What was the song you played at the beginning and who performs it?

Charah trending certainly isn't going to impact any ratings given it happened in the middle of the episode and only hardcore fans know what it means anyway.

I also doubt Zack's appearance on the Academy Awards is going to make any difference.

  10. I kinda agree about the horse chase scene, i just fast forward through it. It's only 1 minute long anyway. But what i liked about this scene is the wig they put on Sarah, she looked really good in it and Sarah/Vivian actually looked a lot alike in it, you could actually confuse them especially from afar.

  11. P.S. About Sarah/Morgan scene...we know that the scene could have been even better, but i read some opinions and reviews and ppl were mostly really happy with it anyway, for me it was still the funniest scene in the episode.

Btw when you mention next episode and the promo, you say that the bank stuff is not even the best part, we know there will be some Sarah/Ellie stuff and Morgan subplot, so is the thing you most look forward to is in those or something completly different?

  12. A. Great podcast. Sorry you're sick, man.

    B. You could not pay me to watch the CW.

  13. At this point nothing is going to help Chuck's ratings.

  14. The songs in the podcast, by appearance, were:

Killing in the Name by Rage Against the Machine
Know Your Enemy by Rage Against the Machine
    Beautiful Mourning by Machine Head

I don't know how the Sarah and Ellie scene will play out. And that stuff in the promo might be the best moments... one never knows... execution is key. But I am looking forward to a couple of things more than the bank robbery. The show could always disappoint me.

  15. In the promo CVT Bank of Evil, it looks like the hallway of computers are in the new wing of Castle. Wonder if "GRETA" is a robot or intersect inhanced spy group? Whatever they are "Chuck fears the CIA's new operatives will render him obsolete" in CVT A-TEAM

  17. I just saw ratings and DVR ratings and if you look at Chuck compared to other NBC shows it is the lowest rated besides the Cape. I think it's time to say goodbye because the writing is on the wall and I am about 75% sure this is the last season. :-( Snif

    ReplyDelete
  18. Well, the writing is not on the wall just yet... but things are not looking great right now. Funny how once I became more disconnected from doing the fan campaigns the show started to lose ratings.

Was I really that powerful? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Wait not it not. Chuck get way more ratings than the Cape and Harry law on par with Chuck. Chuck is not on the bottom. Only shows that i know that doing better than Chuck are the Office of course Park and Recrations Parenthood and maybe a couple of others but it not as bad as Anonymous says.

  20. Some more detailed ratings stuff.

The A18-49 rating in the hundredths was a 1.68. 2nd lowest of all time.

The Male 18-34 and Male 18-49 ratings were the highest they've been in several weeks. The younger male demo bounced back to 411 levels. But, both are still below the Fall average.

On the Female 18-49 side, it was not good. The Bachelor probably stole them. It was a Chuck season low for Females 18-49. Maybe series low, but I haven't tracked that demo for last season.

The only demos that are still up compared to the Fall are the "over 50" crowd. It's up 12% vs. the Fall average. It could be the difference of ABC having The Bachelor vs. Dancing with the Stars. The latter appeals to an older audience.

  21. So what does this all mean. Chuck is failing and we prepare to say goodbye? Well that is what I am preparing to do. That way it won't sucker punch me when it gets cancelled.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I agree about the charah line, that sucked! But if they were to panda that should have gone with walkertowski since casey always called chuck - bartowski and Sarah - walker. but yeah a low point for the series!

  23. Very good podcast, especially considering you were under the weather. I've now watched the ep twice and while I did like it better the 2nd time around it was just such a weak episode. A few complaints:
    1) Quite literally everything about the horse scene was bad and much of it has been hashed. One thing that stood out and bothered me so much was Chucks dismissal of the danger for Sarah. I know she is the best of the best, super spy, but she is his F'ing fiancée! I too get that they are spys and there is inherent danger but to be so blasé about it "No vivian, you stay safe with me, let sarah take on all the risk and danger..." Maybe I'm knit picking but that really bothered me. Furthermore (and not to get all fan-fic) but wouldn't it have made much more sense for the bad guys to be converging in on a unconscious Sarah and have Casey snipe them as they approached instead of running into the middle of the field? Wouldn't that have played much better for his "sniper skills". Quite possibly the worst scene ever in Chuck.

2)Chuck/Morgan scenes did not work for me. As someone noted, they made a FAR bigger deal of him moving down the road than they did when he moved TO HAWAII. I thought their first convo worked well (great acting by zac) but the 2nd convo, the 2nd to last scene (i think) was just 3 more minutes of rehashing the EXACT same convo they already had.

    3) The editing (and/or filming) of the Chuck/Morgan against the wall scene was awful. On top of the near 4th wall breaking that Mangus mentioned, they had like 4 shots showing the rest of the bedroom with Sarah nowhere to be found and then BOOM she is just standing in front of the bed packing. Completely took me out of the moment which otherwise was pretty heartfelt.

two really weak episodes in a row. Heres to hoping next week gets them back on track. Im excited to see where the vivian plot goes.

  24. Correction on my ratings note:
When I said M18-34 ratings bounced back to "411" levels, I meant "412". 411 was still higher. Sorry for the error.

Personally, Chuck has been on the bubble for so long, I've been prepared to say goodbye for quite a while. I just kinda wish that the writers will know about it before they write the final episode. I also would rather know before the final episode airs than after. If it's going to go, I'd like it to get a nice send-off.

  25. I read comment on youtube from the editor i guess (he was the user who put that movie there), that part of Sarah/Morgan scene was cut for time :( .

  26. J says ...

DKD , as always thank you for the detailed ratings info :)

There is NO way NBC renews Chuck next year if they planned on airing it in it's current time slot . The ratings just don't merit it .

I think the chances of renewal this year will be more in Warner Bros court than NBC's . If Warner Bros feels they have a market for Chuck in syndication and it would benefit them financially to have 91or 100 eps , they could certainly entice NBC with a sweet heart deal on the licensing fee . I think it would be pretty hard for NBC to pass up . Sharing the Friday @ 8 slot with a cycle of Who do you think you are? would be my guess where they would place it .

But if Warner thinks the opposite , I think we're done and it would be upsetting , but what more could we have asked for ? We got to see Chuck and Sarah get together/engaged/married( probably lol ) , Morgan evolving in to the bearded wonder and a lot more over the course of the run of the show . It's been great !

  27. Um, I totally agree. The preview of next week's episode was so entertaining. I'm pretty excited. I also agree that the pacing was what ruined the episode for me. I just felt like they tried to do a lot, but not enough. It was weird.

  28. Can someone tell me where to find the cut scene of Sarah/Morgan on Youtube? Would love to see it but can't seem to find it. Thanks!

  29. @OPD,

You will hopefully find it on the Season 4 DVD - if they pack it into it- when it is released. There's probably no chance you will see it before then.

  30. what about morgan saying "GB"?

  31. Ok, crazy idea i know, but last time they did scene where they put Sarah with Mama B on the playground it was a message that woman are alike and then latter they pararell their stories a bit.

This time when i watch the scene with Sarah in wig and Vivian i thought man they look a lot alike...that is why i was thinking that maybe Vivian is Sarah half sister :)...i know totally stupid idea, but somehow i feel not totally out of realm of possibility ;) .

    ReplyDelete
  32. Harku, it is totally out of the realm of possibility.

  33. lmao! I just have to say this, the best part of the podcast was when Kevin disappeared...
