CHUCK SPOILER: In response to latest Ask Ausiello, Jan. 18, 2011

In his latest Ask Ausiello, TVLine's Michael Ausiello teases something about a new incoming character named Vivian.  Go read what he said and then read my elaboration on that spoiler below:

Vivian is someone for whom Chuck can be a knight in shining armor.  Fans who have complained that he doesn't "man up" should be pleased.  He finally has a girl he can protect.

CYT54 SPOILERS!

  1. Thanks for channeling your inner Aussiello (you know the one that isn´t afraid of hate tweets ;)), and elaborating on that. :D

I think a lot of people will love that setup. I am undecided as of yet.

I guess, this makes it unlikely that they have the intersect in common. Or at least it seems to be a no to her having the kung-fu intersect version. That would kind of take away the reason to protect her.

I guess they could have one parent in common and I would love that. Chuck would be extremely protective of a baby sister, but I am not sure, if the show would go there.

Could also just mean, that she is like season 1 Chuck. And Chuck will get to be her Sarah. :P

  2. a knight in shining armor? hmm.... isnt this the episode where the casting call called for someone to play henry the 8th?

now i will go into another week of hiding.

  3. I believe that this Vivian is Volkoff's daughter and the thing she has in common with Chuck is the fact that she once led a normal life and suddently got herself involved in the spy life because of decisions her family (dad) made. Abandoned by her father (Volkoff has been in "hiding" for ages now), stumbles into the spy-verse and is freaking out: sounds very similar to Chuck's story. Mainly if she also has to constantly stay in the car, or limo, for that matter.
I doubt she has an intersect or that she is related to Chuck because, well, *splash* that would be the sound of the shark jumping (not that he hasn't already performed some jumps in this show).

    ReplyDelete
  4. I think the thing they have in common is that they have parents who are in the spy world. My guess is still that she is Volkoff's daughter and her's ends up being a revenge arc.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I also suspect there is a revenge arc for Vivian, but it probably starts as Chuck trying to protect her as an innocent. Things may turn around once she figures out who actually took down daddy. That's assuming she actually is Volkoff's daughter, which seems likely given a comment by Schwartz or Fedak to the effect that "bad guys have family too". Now there's a possible source of (plausible as opposed to PLI) conflict with Sarah, since she's much less likely to be trusting of a bad guy's daughter than Chuck.

  6. Could Vivian be the daughter of Ellie and Awesome?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Yeah... Ellie and Awesome gave birth to a 20-something year old woman.

    ReplyDelete
  8. "Yeah... Ellie and Awesome gave birth to a 20-something year old woman."

Well, they're not called the Awesomes for nothing you know :)

I guess this also eliminates any chance of her being a half-Bartowski, since then she couldn't be much older than about 19-20. The actress looks older than that.

    Jim

    ReplyDelete
  9. Where does it say the age of the character? I did not see that in the post. All is said was "Vivian is someone for whom Chuck can be a knight in shining armor. Fans who have complained that he doesn't "man up" should be pleased. He finally has a girl he can protect"

    ReplyDelete
  10. It doesn't say her age here... but if you follow the links to the Ausiello spoiler, you can see that the actor is older than an infant.

  11. Dear Magnus,
first I would say that i don't understand the people complaining about 4.11. IMO it was a very good episode, in a 10 point scale a plain 8 at least, from the beginning to the end, different from many "epic" episodes, that always had, to me, their ups and downs: well balanced in the different parts (mission, submission, Buy More), well played by everyone (and for me, Yvonne was even better than in Phase 3: but I'm biased, I know...), and opens the way to some interesting development.

But we're here for the spoilers, so now here is my question: no matter if the "Casey accident" was planned in advance or not, will Casey suffer some permanent or at least long-term physical consequences? I mean, will we see him in an hospital, or in a weelchair for an episode or two? I know he's Iron man Casey, but...

P.S. not every non-us commenter is from Germany (or Iceland, for that...), maybe you should keep this in mind for the next podcast... :)

    ReplyDelete
  12. This is certainly interesting tidbit of info. Looking forward to see how this plays out in the show. Heck, just as long as she isn't a PLI, I'm fine with it.

    ReplyDelete
  13. P.P.S. Another question: many people thinks that the new character will be baby Volkoff, but who said that? What if she is baby Roark? Or maybe, just the daughter of another unknown criminal mastermind...?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Henry, I think you meant to post this question under the CYT54 posting, since this is related to the Vivian spoiler.

As for your question, Casey is not going to just limp away from that fall.

    And I like my faux-German accent. :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. You're right, the first question was in the wrong place, but thanks for the answer!
As for the second, I guess that we will have to wait and see... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  16. To play devils advocate this is "chuck", casey gets shot in one episode and the next he is walking, casey could be ok...The Vivian character being Awesome and Ellie's daughter....ever seen a soap...those kids are like 5 years old one month and the next 20 something, vivian could be the awesomes kidd if you apply the soap effect, lol, just saying.....I would buy that more than sarah and shaw...I am sorry magnus I just had to throw that in, lol. heheheh!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I still don't understand how folks can't see that Sarah wasn't privy to the set-up. I mean it was OBVIOUS that she was blindsided.

    ReplyDelete
  18. "Fans who have complained that he doesn't "man up" should be pleased." Is this a case of be careful what you wish for, you just might get it? ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Paul those fans were just not happy that the proposal did not finish and are blame Sarah first people despite the logic! Crazy fans! I really think the best part is that chuck accepted it even though he was not happy and that hows great maturity

    ReplyDelete
  20. John, pretty much. Though, I am not thinking about what their problem is all that much because it is so ridiculous that they have a problem with it, I don't consider their anger remotely valid.

There are always episodes some fans say suck because they have an expectation that was not met. And once they decide they have a problem with it, they stick to it no matter how dumb the argument is.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Actually the funny thing is that the 4.14 synopsis is already out and so the arc is only 2 episodes long! Based on the promo's chuck see's sarah in the next episode! I mean it was a powerful moment when she left no doubt, but seriously! it does not last long chuck not seeing sarah, it aint a 20 year think, I doubt it is a 20 minute thing in the episode, lol. Why do fans freak out and say oh they are never going to get engaged and married because sarah is leaving for 20 years! sarah is going to sleep around! Sarah is going to be mean! oh no! what will I do!

Come on wierdo's get a grip, I am sure what they will do will be awesome, but based on synopsis the fun is just around the corner!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I find it weird that nobody has pointed it out, but we have Chuck being a "knight in shining armor" (as underlined by Magnus), the casting call for a Henry VIII lookalike and an Oxford (history) student. Intriguing.

Is it possible that the plot unfolds in England (a.k.a. the backlot looking like England)?

Can you tell us anything about it, Magnus? Will they actually put Chuck in an armor (major hilarity ensues!)?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Jacob, please stop making so much sense.

    ReplyDelete
  24. vivian may be new love interest for Chuck

    ReplyDelete
  25. Magnus,

Along with Jacob's sense-making about the duration of this arc, the synopses make 414/415 seem like pretty light-hearted episodes. So I'm thinking most of the fallout of 412 is probably dealt with sooner than later. Am I warm?

Of course, after 412 actually airs and before 413 calms people down with Chuck's awesomeness, they are going to be tearing their hair out about how the writers have destroyed the characters. I mean if people can just make stuff up about 411 to beat up on Sarah, imagine what they're going to say when she actually does something morally questionable.

    Jim

    ReplyDelete
  26. Jim, hopefully they quit the show next week. They are worse than crazy shippers.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The traditional image of the knight in shining armor is of a man riding in on a horse to rescue the damsel in distress.

They were filming at Ventura Farms recently because it was in the news that a tree fell on some parked cars when the Chuck production was there.

Will Chuck be riding a horse?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Chuck riding a horse seems very likely, because the casting call for Vivian asked for an actress, who was able to ride horses.

And she is studying in Oxford. So I guess Chuck might go to England and play a knight on a horse?

    ReplyDelete
  29. OMG-Could it be a renaissance fair type thing?

    (I'm just brainstorming here.)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Don't read that underline bit too literally. :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. i fink vivian is ganna realy like chuck. because in one spoiler iv read it says somthing about chuckles wich im guessing is vivians nick name for him or somthing and the other spoiler about she thinks her and chuck has a lot in common.so she probs ends up realy liking chuck whats ganna ster things up a bit but chuck oviously is in love with sarah.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Does John's accident cause a temporary rift between Morgan and Alex? What I mean is, will she transfer any anger she feels toward Sarah to the whole team? Or are the writers not even going down that road?

And now I found out it all will apparently happen during a masquerade ball in "England".(my "source" is Matt Mitovich's twitter account "@jemjoven The location we're at is doubling for a British manor. It's a masquerade party (Ep 16) where we meet Robin Givens' character.")

So Chuck might not be in armor, but a masquerade ball is always super fun!

@Magnus: can you tell us if Sarah, Casey and Morgan will also be in the ball?

    ReplyDelete
  35. at the ball, sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  36. The reporter Matt Mitovich wrote that there will be a masked ball in the sixteenth episode of Season Four, "Chuck vs. The First Mate". The dance will be held in a villa there, the British team Bartowski meets the character played by Robert Givens. Obviously this has to do with Vivian, the daughter of the chief criminal who studies history at Oxford.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ooh, a masquerade party sounds really cool! Magnus, could you confirm the validity of Matt Mitovich's spoiler hint for us folks?

    ReplyDelete
  38. was Sarah leaving to help Chuck's Mom the decision that you said crazy shippers wouldn't like? If so, i think it's silly. it's obvious she's going to come back.. she just needs to spread her wings a little.

    Alana

    ReplyDelete
  39. Alana... partly. Partly throwing Casey out of a window. And partly something else.

    ReplyDelete
  40. You know it would have been to know why exactly Sarah was doing this mission. I mean last episode it was implied that Sarah understood that she got lucky with chuck and mama b got unlucky with booklet, so does she sympathise with her? Is that what she meant I am doing this for us. Chuck was right why does it have to be Sarah? A simple few lines of dialogue would have been good. Or is it another do not expect something that the show has never delivered before? Oh and chuck should have given her a more passionate kiss! Come on man you girl is leaving for an indefinite amount of time kiss the heck out of her!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Mike, Sarah feels that the mother issue would be a continuous weight on the shoulders of their relationship if not resolved. She knows that Chuck will never give up trying to get his mom back. So, she wants to help him because it helps both of them in the long run. Plus, she loves the guy and wants him to be happy.

I think that if they had known they had 24 episodes when they wrote this story, they would have spent a couple of episodes setting up Chuck worrying about his mom. Just figure that between 4.10 and 4.11, Chuck was doing a lot of talking about wanting to get his mom out of the situation.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Magnus said - "Alana... partly. Partly throwing Casey out of a window. And partly something else"

If I were to guess, it would be that Sarah, in order to sell her cover, denounces Chuck in front of Volkoff. She says that she never loved him, that he was her mark and that she was only using him and never wants to see him again.

The funny thing is, if this were to come to pass, this shouldn't really bother anybody. Chuck knows Sarah is undercover. He knows she is acting (a gal playing a gal pretending to be another gal). He knows she truely loves him, so what she is saying is untrue. Yet people are STILL likely to get 'angsty'......sigh....

    ReplyDelete
  43. Ok I get it, it is still kind of a situation where you have to do a lot of guess work in offscreensville....but yeah I suppose with the episode order being what it is I can go along with it....But I still stick with my Chuck should have kissed the hell out of her...come on dude she is risking her life for both you and your family! even if beckman was standing there with the most agents we have seen in castle all season, I would have still gone for it, I mean screw it she is leaving for who knows however long. The kiss was like someone said in the background, hey she is only going for 2 episodes so chill out! lol....hehehehe!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Paul, as a favorite show runner of mine once said... (to paraphrase) sometimes the writers screwed it up and sometimes the viewer is an idiot. Most of these overreactions come from people who aren't very... what is the word I am looking for... ummm... aware of the obvious?

Mike, the kissing since Chuck and Sarah got together has been mostly TOO UNDERSTATED! They sometimes get good kisses in but not enough. I know they are probably pulling it back to make the special kisses more special but... I think those little kisses are wayyyy too understated. They need to amp it up to the level of the kiss in 4.11 when Chuck and Sarah are in front of the cgi castle. AT LEAST that.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Magnus, I have a better, less PC saying - "People are stupid. A person can be smart, but people are stupid!"

    ReplyDelete
  46. Hi, my name is Magnus and I support this message.

    ReplyDelete
  47. BTW, to go along with my spec, whether it happens or not, I think Volkoff, would get a sadistic kick out of it, regardless of whether he buys the cover or not. He turned Mary and took her away from Stephen and now he gets to do it all again to the Stephen's son.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Which one? the moonlight or daylight cgi? I mean they have had some ok ones since getting together, I mean the end of tooth was nice, the honeymooners at the end was nice, the FOD one was nice, the phase three was ok, the anniversary one was nice......they have had a few nice ones, nothing like colonel, but that was a unique situation, that was like two people who were gagging for it after two years of waiting to be alone without surviellance. The salami one was like something sarah wanted to do since she met chuck and went for it, and well seduction was just chuck falling for Roan's baiting....but yeah since they have got together there has been nice kisses not steamy ones, but hey maybe that is what romance is and I am not being a romantic, who knows....

    ReplyDelete
  49. @ Paul: you're right, this shouldn't really bother anybody. And the "kill Casey" thing was not a cliffhanger even before the promo, we all know that he will survive the fall, somehow.
Also, I think that it was obvious that Casey was prepared: I mean, if you fall from the fifth floor, you have to have at least some vest or something, if you fall to the ground with your bare back you either get killed or at least paralysed: unless you are Superman, and we all know that casey is not, it was the other guy... :)
So I think that "something else" will be much, much, MUCH worse than what you suggested. I expect that mama B. shooting Chuck in Aisle of terror will look like an innocent joke, compared with this...

    ReplyDelete
  50. Magnus wrote: "Alana... partly. Partly throwing Casey out of a window. And partly something else."

The something else part sounds pretty cool.

Magnus wrote on Dec. 1st: "Chuck is horrified by how easily Sarah seduces her mark."

Since Volkoff is her mark, is the "something else" bit Sarah having to seduce Volkoff? Or is this spoiler about another episode with another mark?

This is going to be an awesome episode!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. As I have already clarified a number of times now, the seduces her mark thing is in Chuck Vs. the Seduction. :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. It seems like a given that Sarah is going to have to be pretty mean to Chuck in order to sell that she's now on Volkoff's side and say some pretty nasty things to him.

Volkoff knows all about Chuck's feelings for Sarah from that long ride with the sheep.

Mary must have had to do pretty much the same this in regards to Chuck's dad, who Volkoff referred to as a fool. (as I recall. I don't have the episode available to rewatch for the actual wording)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Well Fedak has already said that 4.14 is like a honeymooners type of episode, so whatever type of seduction that sarah has to do will be shrugged off very quickly by chuck, I think. I tell you what if 4.14 and 4.15 and maybe a few other episodes are light, I mean we have really got a light and easy and just heavonly set of episodes! I mean wow, if season 3.0 was dark and angst personified then this season is fluffy on a pillow type of show, I mean wow I am light headed by all the love dovey stuff, it is nice.....

    ReplyDelete
  54. Fedak said 4.14 is a Honeymooners type episode? Interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I think they have gone dark this season....chuck's mom killing Marco in cold blood, chuck's mom shooting chuck at point blank, etc. I just think most fans do not notice because chuck and sarah are happy, lol. So they could have chuck and sarah standing in the middle of chuckville where all they are doing is smilling at each other and around them everything is blowing up and every character in the show apart from them is dieing and fans would still love it, lol. This show does not have to do much to get a solid 2.0/2.1...

    ReplyDelete
  56. Fedak said it would have a lighter feel, like Honeymooners, not that it would be "like" Honeymooners.

    ReplyDelete
  57. @Henry,what I have spec'd out is pretty much a thermonuclear bomb to crazy shippers who won't look past the words to what is really going on int he scene. It can't get much worse than that. And I suspect this is what Magnus was referring to when he stated that people were goin to "lose their ****"

    ReplyDelete
  58. http://tv.ign.com/articles/114/1144130p1.html

He said that 4.14 is in the vein of honeymooners...

    ReplyDelete
  59. Maybe the nutjobs got the anger out in 4.11 so they won't react as badly to 4.12.

    But I doubt it.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Whatever happens, in 4.14 which is what 3 weeks away, casey is walking and talking on a mission with chuck and sarah in morrocco. So whatever sarah says and does, it looks like both casey and chuck have let bygones be bygones because the both agreed to go on a mission with sarah....So on the basis of promo's and synopsis how can any fan lose their s**t!

    ReplyDelete
  61. magnus - those reacting negatively so far toward sarah have not been the traditional shippers on the board I post on, seem to be a different group, none of what has been spoiled bothers me even a little bit, and I am a shipper - as far as 4x11 went, I felt bad for sarah, she was so close to getting what she wanted, and then heroically had to abandon the mission for the greater good, I saw no reason to hate sarah, rather the opposite, made for great drama, which some chuck fans 'pine' (ok bad joke) for

    ReplyDelete

  63. Happy to help. Meanwhile, there is an effort brewing to have me "unfollowed" and "ignored" because of what I said about Mel on the podcast.

So, I can help raise tens of thousands of dollars for charity in the name of this fandom... help put together half a dozen fan campaigns... but if I call someone a name on a podcast because she tried to literally STEAL a charity event from WeHeartChuck and then BADMOUTHED the girl who SAVED CHUCK while on the set of CHUCK... and I am the bad guy.

Hey, nutbags... this fight has just started. All you do when you poke me is make me want to shout it even louder.

  65. Quick question. Magnus can you confirm that the promotional photos that were just posted are actually from 4.12? Sarah and Chuck in chains with Sarah in a gown just don't seem like they are but more likely another episode.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Uplink, I don't know. If I remember to ask about them, I will get you the answer.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Is there a link somewhere to these photo ?

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  68. They are from 4.14 with Roan. It was just corrected. Which makes a lot more sense and is probably the Chuck Sarah seduction talk that Roan and Casey will have some interesting comments about.

    ReplyDelete
  69. As you can see in those pictures, Chuck and Sarah don't seem happy. I bet he is still mad about that Casey thing. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  70. Magnus, I love your teasing - you're the man... Since last week (that was about when I found this blog) I must've spent countless of hours browsing through this site lol. Please, keep up doing the awesome work! For every CHUCK fan's sanity. ;)

  71. Ha even worse than torture - Roan has to listen to them have their spat. I know he loves that

    ReplyDelete
  72. Sorry Magnus, not buying that one lol ;)

That is pure how could my new fiance seduce someone so easily humor!

    ReplyDelete
  73. There is definitely not a ring on Sarah's finger in the promo pics... should we try to avoid reading too much into that?

    ReplyDelete
  74. " As you can see in those pictures, Chuck and Sarah don't seem happy. I bet he is still mad about that Casey thing. ;) "

    J says ...

or the seduction thing .... :)

    ReplyDelete
  75. Will he at least be a little more mature about the seduction stuff than he has been in the past (please god) or is he going to be even worse since they are together now?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Should you read anything into her not having a ring on her finger? I guess, if you want. But it could mean he hasn't asked, or she hasn't accepted, or that she took it off.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Thank you, Lewis. Tell your friends... and another 1 million people. ;)

Uplink, that is not the horrified-over-the-seduction moment.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Sue, he reacts as one might expect Chuck to react.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Ok but in the very least I bet it has nothing to do with Casey.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Ugh, pissy jealous Chuck is like my least favorite Chuck.

    ReplyDelete
  81. If and when Sarah gets the ring, I doubt she will be wearing it on all her missions.

I can see it now. Whenever they do get engaged, assuming its not the series finale, the forums will have endless discussions of whether she was wearing the ring or not, in what scenes, and whether she is gazing upon it lovingly enough.

It may replace the bracelet as the jewelry to obsess over.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Pissy is accurate. I don't know about jealous. I don't think that is his issue. It is more in how it is done.

Uplink, I actually don't know what is happening in the scene... until someone tells me specifically.

    ReplyDelete
  83. dkd, yep. Didn't we talk about that on the podcast? Or did I cut it out?

    ReplyDelete
  84. J says ...

Surely I can't be the only one who likes " pissy jealous " Chuck , or am I ?

    ( and don't call me Shirley )

    lol

    ReplyDelete
  85. In my eyes that big rock on Sarahs finger would be a potential weapon.

And regarding the photos, for an episode dedicated to seducing that ring would be tactically bad to wear.

Enough talk about rings now... Any chance that Casey and Ellie end up at same hospital? I guess thats a really bad guess but in my eyes that would be an awesome coincidence.

As I said before now I'm mostly excited for a baby, as it is a symbol for new life. One of the few things this show never really brought up before. A little light in the dark world.

    /Oliver

  88. good news for everyone as of right now there are no more breaks for at least the next 4 episodes. this is awesome news.

    ReplyDelete
  89. "Magnus said...

Would that something else be Sarah acting like a b-word towards Chuck and Chuck being shocked by it?

Also, since it looks like 415 will be airing on Valentines day, do you know if 415 will be in any way related to Valentines day or is it just a coincidence that it airs on that day?

    AB

    ReplyDelete
  90. My guess for the other thing Sarah does that will piss people off: She tells Volkoff in front of Chuck that he is the Intersect. It has the advantage of absolutely cementing her bad guy status while not really putting Chuck in any more immediate danger. Volkoff won't move against him with the threat of a pissed off Mama B still looming, and Sarah might think she can take the organization down quickly enough that there won't be long term problems for Chuck.

Out there, but at least it's different :)

    Jim

    ReplyDelete
  91. 4.14 synopsis is out.....fans do not freak about chuck and Sarah being at odds over their future....it will be like when they were at odds in honeymooners... Chuck and Sarah wanted to run but wanted to go home, same deal here I guess

  92. So the synopsis for 4.14 is out and you can feel the pre emptive melt down already starting to build.

  95. magnus - i find the 4x13 episode's build up placing the show in an incredible position, best ep ever written versus no engagement meltdown .... can the 13th episode be so awesome that the huge portion of the fan base that is convinced that 4x13 is the engagement ep won't be angry? I am convinced, that the handwringing part of the relationship will last right up to the final 5 minutes of the series, so at that point, it is just a matter of what the contrivance is - 105 ways to propose is better than most contrivances

  96. That line about chuck and sarah being at odds over their future... as Damian says is a honeymooners type of arguement. I mean if you remember honeymooners, who in the audience actually remembered their dilema over whether to run or whether to go and stay home? no one between the kissing, charles', kissing, fightings, kissing, smiling at each other, kissing, fighting handcuffed together, kissing, Nina Simone and kissing.....no one cared or even noticed their conflict, where sarah wanted to be in burbank and chuck wanted to run. So I guess the same applies to 4.14 and I guess Roan is going to kind of give them advice instead of casey and morgan, so it will be light hearted and it will be comedic and it will be awesome, so I hope fans do not go nuts!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Even when Sepinwall said to Fedak can't chuck and sarah just be happy like honeymooners...Fedak had to remind Sepinwall that there was conflict, lol.....even a professional critic missed it, because it was such a fun and happy episode...bring on seduction impossible, if it in the vein of honeymooners then bring it on! I love it!

    ReplyDelete
  98. AB, 4.15 is not a Valentine's Day episode. 4.16 could have easily been one, though. Perhaps they flip them...

    ReplyDelete
  99. Any scoop on what 4.16 will be about?

  100. Andy, I am not ready to tease 4.16 just yet but I will say that it sounds like the craziest awesome and emotional episode ever!

  105. Magnus, how would Roan Montgomery going to react if he finds out Chuck and Sarah are now a couple who want to be married? Will he find out?

And, if Chuck and Sarah eventually have a wedding, do you think Roan Montgomery or Carina should be invited to the wedding?

And will they ever get Cole Barker back on the show as a guest star?

Also, I would really love to see Nathan Fillion guest star on the show? Any chance of that happening?

    ReplyDelete
  106. The Portland market represents only about 1% of Chuck viewership in the U.S.

    ReplyDelete
  107. melwicker, Roan will definitely weigh in on their relationship. I will probably tease that episode more next week.

I think Carina would be invited to the wedding.

There is a perfect episode where Cole could return... but I don't think he does.

I don't know if Fillion's contract allows him to do an episode of CHUCK... and I haven't heard that he is going to be on the show.

    ReplyDelete
  108. 1% ratings drop?! It is over!

Man, I am glad I live in an area where every sports team has a cable channel.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Magnus said - "Roan will definitely weigh in on their relationship. I will probably tease that episode more next week."

Yeah, I bet his exact words will be "I told you so"..... ;o)

    ReplyDelete
  110. Oh, you think he is going to be positive about it?

    Hah. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  111. I think what Paul want to say, is when Roan told Chuck. Lesson 1. " never fall in love "

    ReplyDelete
  112. Yup, I bet Roan is going to give a lesson on why Rule #1 exists in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  113. No come on guys, Roan knew about 5 minutes into the episode (even before chuck and sarah kissed) that there was something between them and he therefore gave chuck hints and tips on how to seduce sarah. He knew that sarah was in love with chuck, so why would he be suprised to actually see them together about to get married? Also he knew chuck could get sarah even though he said during the mission that he did not have much faith in chuck's seducing abilities, so I think it maybe a case of chuck and sarah bickering (playfully) and Roan getting frustrated with them (in a cute way) and so it could be a fun episode!

With Regards to Cole, it would be great for Cole to come into chuckville and say to chuck I have heard about you mate, well done on buttering that muffin! lol. Cole was a nice guy and accepted that he lost to the nerd chuck bartowski, so that would be great to have him back. Also if chuck (with the intersect) took on cole that would be interesting, considering that chuck is looking good lately! to see cole's eyes when chuck takes out 10 guys one moment and then dances like a professional the next, then speaks 10 different languages and then does all these acrobatics. Cole would then know that he is second best to the chuckfu agent charles carmichael, oh I love to dream......

  114. Ratings note: When a local station preempts a show, the usually run that show at a later date in a different time period with the ads intact.

So, eventually Nielsen does add whatever viewers the show gets for that re-scheduled telecast into the show's viewer total.

It just doesn't show up in the overnights unless the station runs the preempted episode the same day.

Unfortunately, I think Portland's reschedule is for the middle of the night.

The after-the-fact adjustment is usually not too large because it's usually small markets that do this crap. The networks own the stations in the larger markets.

An episode last fall had a later adjustment of a hundredth of a point.

I'd love to see Cole Barker again too...and his tank top.

    ReplyDelete
  115. @Jake, yes Roan immediately sensed that there was an attraction between Chuck and Sarah almost immediately. I don't think Roan, or most spies in the Chuck world, have issues with agents fooling around with each other. However, Roan's (the Chuckverse spyworld's) attitude is that you don't make emotional connections. You don't FALL IN LOVE. There is, IMHO, a difference between having sex and making love (and probably why the idea of Sarah having sleeping with Shaw didn't bother me viscerally like it did to other fans). And I think Roan is going to extrapolate why it's okay to do the former but should not do the latter.

    ReplyDelete
  116. I sorry i have to say I loving this season and what they are doing It clear or maybe it not that Chuck ans Sarah are going to get engaged at some point. To be honest i am in not rush. One thing i got to ask Mr Magnus is that are we going to get nothing but Chuck and Sarah angst from here on out or will their be good times with them.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Curits, just angst. This show just doesn't do good times.

(I am being sarcastic... of course there will be good times)

    ReplyDelete
  118. You Rock sir. I want to point out also I do not know why anyone trust are like Mel or the people running ChuckTV. Sorry but their podcast are like watching little toddlers cartoons and just by listing to Mel to me she seems like a back stabbing person. Sorry anyone who acts like she deos in their podcast cannot be trusted to me.

Also i like to thank you Magnus for your spoilers and the work you put into it.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Hello..
Dear Magnus :) you said "I think Carina would be invited to the wedding."..
Do you mean the Big Mike's and Morgan's mother's wedding?
    Have missed something?

    ReplyDelete
  120. Curtis, Mel isn't just a back stabbing person, she is an outright lying, cheating, and thieving... evil human being. Anyone who sides with her is no different than her. Because immoral people tend to side with those who compliment them.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Zeynep, someone asked me if Carina would be invited to Chuck and Sarah's wedding. It was just supposition. It wasn't a spoiler.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Mel is evil. And rude. And she thinks she is the greatest bitch that has ever lived. Not in a funny sarcastic way, she really does seem to believe that.

The worst kind of person is the one that pretends to be nice and sweet. I believe if you don't like someone you should tell it to his or her face and not act like Mary F*****g Poppins. That is not only a lack of character, but a weakness regarding personality.

    ReplyDelete
  123. The problem is that the people who are honest and straighforward tend to be perceived as the rude and mean ones, while the Pollyana-wannabes and fakers poise as saints and act all offended. That sickens me.

Sorry about this rant, but the sh*tty person we are talking about is just an example of sooooo many cowards out there.

    ReplyDelete
  124. The thing with Mel is that she is either a sociopath or has serious borderline personality issues. Everything was settled between us (via a deal brokered by Grey Jones) and she was cooperating (giving proper credit etc) and then she just couldn't control herself. She HAD TO start taking credit for stuff that she had no business taking credit for and then badmouthing someone who has done nothing but WORK HER ARSE OFF FOR THIS FANDOM.

And why did she do that? What purpose did she have? Most likely, she was afraid I would one day out what she did and so she went on a preemptive strike on those who knew the truth.

    ReplyDelete
  125. "The problem is that the people who are honest and straighforward tend to be perceived as the rude and mean ones, while the Pollyana-wannabes and fakers poise as saints and act all offended. That sickens me."

Very well put. And if you are an honest person who always speaks the truth, but you do it abrasively, then weak minded people will gravitate toward the liar who smiles. It is the basic story of evil. People applaud evil as long as it is delivered in a neat package.

And make no bones about it, Mel is stone cold evil. I have never known anyone as purely without morals as her.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Yet, the readers from Chucktv have no idea about it and the one time I saw someone mention your blog suddenly the comment was deleted (that got my attention and made me look for it) and then the others would only call you "that blogger" or the blog "the blog that shouldn't be named" or so (I don't know the words and I am exaggerating, but you people get it). It was like they were talking about Voldemort... it was so ridiculous that I had to check your blog out... it has been since (plus an incident that showed me the aforementioned rudeness) that this blog has become my sole source for Chuck info.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Yep. They have their own little inner circle all backing Mel because she gives them exposure... and forum posters who just don't like me because I speak the truth. Mostly crazy shippers and fan fic writers.

And even if they knew the facts, they wouldn't care. They would back an evil person if it meant it would damage me in any way. That is the extent of their morals.

I have seen this before in another fandom. A person does something sickening and is outted. Initially people back away from them but in time people forget or figure "Hey, it has nothing to do with me." The few honorable people who walk away are replaced by people who don't know the truth, who think everything is fine.

But we know. And as long as I am around, I am going to remind people who Mel from ChuckTV is and what she did... until she openly apologizes for it and asks forgiveness.

    ReplyDelete
  128. BTW, Magnus: I believe most of us are appreciative of the abrasiveness you sometimes display. It is fun and a kind of catharsis that allows us to get away from the politically correct and always properly polite world we live in today. We are reading/listening about fiction (Chuck) in a non-4th-grade-teacher way. That is fun on my book. And caustic humour is one of the best kinds of humour for me.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Right on. I could try to not be this way but it would make me want to vomit. :)

Granted, I am not just abrasive, confrontational, and cynical. I have a tendency to inspire when I feel so motivated.

Like 4.13... which is going to blow your booties off. Hell, 4.12 is going to be pretty darn good too.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Magnus, was it a struggle for you to keep from mentioning Chuck's attempted proposals in your teasers? Having now seen the episode, you could have put something like: "Sarah's parents ruin Chuck's proposal plan", or "Casey convinces Sarah to return Chuck's ring".

    ReplyDelete
  131. No struggle. I knew I had time to play with the proposal later. :)

    ReplyDelete
  132. You mean there are more proposal hijinks in store? Hopefully that's being saved for a little later in the season. The next two episodes sound like they're going to be pretty busy. Honestly, and I say this as a shipper, I don't understand the big deal about Chuck and Sarah getting married or engaged *right now*. What's the rush, as long as they're together?

    ReplyDelete
  133. Yeah, things are going to be pretty busy during the next two episodes. But they get back to talking about that stuff in 4.14.

Well, more like arguing about it. Oh, I am teasing too early!

    ReplyDelete
  134. Man, some of the more ardent shippers are probably going to have a meltdown before this is all over. Personally, I love it when Chuck and Sarah fight, whether it's played straight or for laughs.

    ReplyDelete
  135. It isn't as bad as it maybe sounds... though, I guess that depends on your point of view. But I am looking forward to it. We haven't seen Chuck and Sarah really argue in a while. Like ANGRY arguing. I love when they argue.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Well I need to say, a little part of me is curious about, that may be in the first time in theirs relationship except Prague , Chuck is the one who take a step back, but ofcourse in the same time, I know we can't avoid the conversations about the Evil Sarah.
" OMG Sarah how could you do that, I not a spy, like you " bla bla
" Chuck it is was just a cover, it was necessary " bla bla
little soap opera to me but it could be fun, :)
anyway, if Chuck is just Half as BAD ASS and good in the 4.13 and the rest of the season as Sarah was in this season and probaly the next episode, then may be there is Hope for Chuck character :).
And Magnus I know you dont realy want to spoil to much right now about 4.14, but please let me ask. This is the episode , where Chuck need to seduce someone too, right?. So how will Sarah react to that. We know Chuck is not ok with this, but what about Sarah ?
Thanks, I tried to be to not annoying you ;)

    ReplyDelete
  137. It doesn't sound bad to me at all. I'm looking forward to it. But some fans have already decided that episode 13 can't be as epic as you, Fedak and Schwartz say it is if Chuck and Sarah aren't engaged by the end of it. They've seen the synopsis for episode 14, and they're already freaking out preemptively.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Heh... well, we shall see what people think after they see the episode. I mean, it is easy to say something can't be as good without knowing what is happening in the episode. I mean, was Lethal Weapon a bad episode because Chuck and Sarah didn't move in together? If anything, the fact they they didn't made that ending even more epic.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Lethal Weapon is probably one of my top ten episodes of the series, and not just for the speech Chuck gives Sarah about not moving in with her. The scene afterward when Chuck pulls his Tron poster off the wall is one of the coolest things this show has ever done, imo.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Hmm, all this stuff about 414 is interesting. Even though Fedak said that 414 was in the vein of Honeymooners and 414 and 415 are light hearted, it does not sound at all like 414 is that light hearted. Magnus, in your opinion from what you have heard about the episode, is Fedak making stuff up or is there actually some truth to what he says.

    Thank you,
    AB

    ReplyDelete
  141. Also, I don't think that Sarah not moving in with Chuck made that ending any more or less epic. The ending was epic because it showed to the audience, through both the speech to Sarah and the Tron poster, that Chuck was finally taking charge of his life for the first time since the show started. It showed that Chuck was not just blindly going along with what the CIA wanted, but that he was using his brain and taking notes to find his own way out. If Sarah had moved in with Chuck it wouldn't have taken away from that ending.

As for 413, if the proposal doesn't happen then it will be okay, as long as they don't use some stupid super angsty reason, such as Chuck/Sarah don't ant to get engaged anymore, to push it back.

    AB

    ReplyDelete
  142. Personally I just want to move past the engagement and towards the wedding. Why? Because my favorite episode of Chuck is Chuck vs the Ring, because f**ked up wedding disasters are fertile ground for great writing and I want to see some crazy stuff happening at Chuck and Sarah's wedding, like the Spider Man wedding where every bad guy showed up wanting to get a shot in and ruin the day. I fear the series will be over before I get to enjoy the hilarity of that scenario.

    Zman

    ReplyDelete
  143. 5 bucks they are engaged by 4.13! I mean seriously how are they going to slow down something that was started from 4.04....it actually would be funny if it was slowed down because fans will be saying that they have jumped the shark, they have lost the plot, they do not know what they are doing, blah, blah, blah. Everyone knows that these two crazy kids will be married and riding off in the sunset someday....as Fedak says they love each other and they will disagree but they will work at it. Oh another fact about Sepinwall (the non-shipper) he has only now regained trust in the writers where chuck and sarah are concerned (yeah, even he lost faith). So I see where the concern comes from, even pro's do not like contrivances and bs for bs sake, so I have hope with a lot riding on this storyline that they will do it right....

    ReplyDelete
  144. hey man. thanks for taking the time to answer all our stupid questions - your website is by far the best as you spoil, but don't give away if that makes any sense at all. Anyway my question is about ellie and sarah - do they have any proper/cool scenes together, just those two??

    Britt

    ReplyDelete
  145. The one thing that gets me about that proposal scene in the restaurant is that Sarah said that it was a bad omen because sarah's parents split up...... Now here is the funny thing any guy who gives up Hannah (kristen kreuk) for you, you know he is never going to leave you, lol. I mean come on! Just propose man, Sarah has got to know that she has chuck forever! Lol, he left the loverely sexy, beautiful, gorgeous.....hmmmmm oh Hannah please come back, wait was I? Never mind.....

    ReplyDelete
  146. AB, the episode is light and fun in most respects... but Chuck and Sarah are not in the happiest place through some of it. But it isn't going to be dark. You can have fun with an argument.

Zman, from your fingers to the writers' creative minds!

DK, Sepinwall doesn't know what he wants. Read all his reviews and he has a different perspective depending on what week of the month it is (or if he is hosting the CHUCK panel at SDCC). ;)

Britt, glad you like it and yes.

Peter Parker... sadly, Hannah has no reason to come back unless she is a spy. Or unless Chuck and Sarah break up. I don't think either of those things is happening.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Or unless she is hannah's long lost twin sister, who drugs chuck into having a steamy affair with her......yeah I know, jumping the shark, I don't care!

    ReplyDelete
  148. I think sepinwall is a huge fan of chuck and Sarah (not a shipper, but just a fan) and I think when fans bombarded his website last season he tried to maintain his composure and professionalism, but now after honeymooners his articles and reviews just show that deep down the angst got to him as well. It is ok, he is human after all, we can all admit even if we are a pro, if something did not feel right then say it.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Fabio, I respect Alan and am a fan of his, but he hasn't been remotely as consistent in his comments as his colleague Daniel Feinberg. So, I sometimes feel like he just comes up with a new opinion depending on the situation. You know, like a lot of fans on the Internet.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Yeah I liked when sepinwall got too subjective with schwedak......fienberg said why not have no villains, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Well I'm one who wonders if it can be the most awesome 10 minutes if the proposal is not involved but you are right it is easy to say that without seeing it first. Maybe it is better stated that it won't be as epic as it could be if it isn't included. But still it will be something totally amazing.

What I don't want to see is a delay being based on Chuck having second thoughts about Sarah because of 4.12/4.13 but more on how they both realize that the life they have chosen can take a huge toll on everyone around them. How can they both have it all and still protect the ones they love. That is probably well worth discussing before hand but please no stupid second thoughts about who Sarah is and what she did to free your mom Chuck. You are way way past that IMO.
Roan and Carina will have much to say about it and probably try to discourage them though I believe there will be a very sweet moment between Carina and Sarah in the end. I am really looking forward to that one. I just want Chuck in particular to man up and realize that this is what he/they truly want and follow his own words from Lethal Weapon and lead the life that he wants with the girl that he loves and not let the spy life or anything else for that matter rob him of that.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Wait who said chuck changes his mind? Uplink are you working yourself up for no reason? I think you are.....geeze, do 13 episodes of Farnese and some fans never trust you again.....

    ReplyDelete
  153. Hello Magnus,

First time listener of your podcast, I think it is great BTW. Out of curiousity Magnus, listening to your podcast it seems that people are still not happy with where the chuck and sarah relationship is going and it seems to be that they have lost complete and utter faith and trust in TPTB because of the first season 13 of episodes of season 3.

Now I do not know anything about fan campaignes, charity efforts or what went down with subway, but surely if the episodes were that bad would'nt the actors have called the producers out on it? I mean Kathryn Heigl said she did not deserve an emmy that she won because the material given to her was rubbish and prompty left Grey's, Mark Harmon refused to work anymore on NCIS until Don Basario left.....I mean no one on chuck, including Zach or Yvonne came out and said these episodes are crap and I have got better offers for more money and less hours and less public crap so I will leave (which they could based on tangled and the killer elite and the role Zach lost).

So where does all this fan outrage come from? if the episode were god awful, the actors would have called them out! they do do that and they can easily quit if they want to....Zach Levi can easily say if you do not change the material.... I will walk or put in a lame performance and this series is named chuck, it is not like a soap where another actor can just come in (same with Yvonne). So I just do not get these crazy fans complaining all the time..if the actors are happy, we should be too! right?

    ReplyDelete
  154. Oh I forgot, Quentin Tarentino came out and said Tangles was in his top 5 movies for 2010 and Zach has just changed agents, so high praise from an awesome movie director and high demand for a great actor, so leverage is the word.....again other reasons why fans who complain should just zip it!

    ReplyDelete
  155. Delia, what Katherine Heigl did made lots of waves. You don't do what she did without repercussions. She got away with it, to some extent, because of her status on the show. But I am sure she will lose out on jobs in the future because of it. Some people just won't want to work with her.

So, would the actors say something publicly about the episodes not being good? I doubt it. They might admit things weren't as good as they could have been but not publicly call anyone out. Now, they could have said something to the producers/writers, but there is protocol in the business and writers don't tend to answer to actors.

I think most people feel the Shaw romance arc was a failure. Even people who work on the show have told me as much. But otherwise, I don't think anyone is embarrassed about the product they delivered overall. You only hear that online from people who spend a lot of time dissecting the show.

But that doesn't mean we SHOULD just like the show because the actors do. I mean, they like the show for different reasons than many of us do. So, their perspective is different. Though, the anger still displayed by some people about certain elements of the show is just... strange stuff. Like they are trying really hard to hold onto rage, as if to justify why they were so upset.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Magnus, my take on it is much simpler: people are selfish. If they don't get the show the way they want it, when they want it, they pout like little children.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Paul, well... yeah. That too. :)

There are also specific personality traits to those who complain a lot. Sometimes called "toxic personality traits."

    Chronic Complainers.

    ReplyDelete
  158. uplink said.."What I don't want to see is a delay being based on Chuck having second thoughts about Sarah because of 4.12/4.13 but more on how they both realize that the life they have chosen can take a huge toll on everyone around them. -I totally agree uplink. I am fine with a delay but I really think that Sarah's actions in 12/13 would be a weak story line to predicate it on. I would like to see what you suggested, with Chuck and Sarah trying to figure out how their spy life and their normal life fit together.

@ZIp I don't think Chuck would necessarily change his mind completely, but his hesitation is certainly something the writers could use as a delay tactic, although as I said above I don't think its the strongest one. It would also make Chuck look like kind of a jerk.

    -OPD

    ReplyDelete
  159. And again opd why would a man who left Hannah (kristen the girl of my dreams kreuk) hesitate? Chuck is ready, so should we be! Come to think about it the day chuck made sweet love to the most beautiful girl to enter chuckville I kind of forget that Sarah would say no to anything chuck asks, I mean Hannah is wow!

    ReplyDelete
  160. What I love most about this season is that each action is setup and written with a real followup on what went before. They have respected the prior character growth and have inserted no retcons whatsoever. I think much of Season 3 was a huge retcon and the Shaw arc failed because of it, and a lot of other reasons. That is why I want to see whatever is used to deal with any delay be real and appropriate reasons with real setup and real growth because of them. Chuck delaying it because of concern about who Sarah is and what she did would be a major mistake IMO especially when there are so many better reasons to do it if they so desire. I would much rather have it in 4.13 but if the reasons are good real ones and not contrivances like has been the case in the past then I'm fine with it being delayed. So far this season at least they have me optimistic that they will make that happen here.
Overall this season the writing, plot development and character growth, Sarah in particular, has been the best ever IMO. I just hope it continues through these next few episodes and into the end of the season.
I think a lot of us want the proposal story finished not only because we want it to happen but so we can move on to great spy couple stories of how they are going to accomplish something that is very alien to the spy life. Love and family.

    ReplyDelete
  161. It is cool to speculate about how it might work or how it should work etc, but seeing it is everything. When Beefcake ended, I said that Chuck and Sarah would probably not move in together. I didn't know that for a fact but I just figured they would find a way. However, I hoped they would let them move in together and speculated about how much fun it would be to do it. That week, leading up to the episode, I remember us talking about how preventing them from moving in together just wouldn't be believable and that fans wouldn't stand for the fake out.

And then the moment came and it was... well, one of my favorite moments on the show (and when people voted for the Chuckgasmys, they agreed).

As I say, it is all about the execution.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Anyone ever consider IF there are second thoughts, it might be Sarah the one having them? Not so much because she doesn't WANT to be married to Chuck (I think Phase Three was a point of no return on that front), but maybe being around Frost has gotten her thinking about the long term consequences of being married to a spy. Maybe having to give up everything you love for a mission. Maybe never coming home from one. That could certainly give her pause. Just a thought....

    ReplyDelete
  163. I agree. Because the reasons chosen to not have them move in together were real and completely understandable. Chuck chose to once again not accept the fake. To protect himself and Sarah from the misery of the an even more unreal relationship.
In this case there are tons of real reasons as to why it might be delayed but second thoughts about Sarah as a person and her actions are not one of them. So as you say its all in the execution and this season and season 2 at least the execution has been great.

  164. And of course, for all you know, the delay already happened and wasn't done on screen (just in writing the episodes differently). So, they could get engaged in 4.13, 4.14, even 4.16... or 4.24.

Or Sarah dies and they never get engaged and season 5 is Chuck all emo about it.

  165. Will we get any sweet Chuck/Ellie scenes in 4x13?

    ReplyDelete
  166. nice magnus, nice.... I like the way you think, but they cannot do a series without yvonne! forget the fans sepinwall would not have it!

    ReplyDelete
  167. Sue, I don't know specifically what their scene(s) might be like. Not that I haven't talked to anyone about it but I can't be totally sure that my memory is about 4.13 and not... another episode. :)

    ReplyDelete
  168. ZLP, the day Yvonne goes, I go.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Magnus, I love the bond between Sarah and Carina. I fully expect another great sweet moment with the 2 of them, my question is will there be one with her and Chuck? She seems to care about him in her own way and what he means to Sarah.

One other thing, you haven't talked much lately about the moment when Chuck is the supportive one to Sarah, is that coming soon?

    ReplyDelete
  170. Ok, thanks. I'll just keep my fingers crossed for family cuteness, if not for 4x13 then for later.

    ReplyDelete
  171. true that! but when kristen Kreuk left I said the same thing.....what we do for love....

    ReplyDelete
  172. uplink, a sweet moment between Carina and Chuck? If there is, I haven't heard about it.

Sue, oh there will be family cuteness. No worries. I just don't know if it is in 4.13 or 4.14... or was it 4.15? OH DAMN IT! This is what happens when you never write anything down.

    ReplyDelete
  173. what if 4.15 is pure flashbacks? I mean if the flashbacks are integrated in between the mission of the week then carina may not get to interact with team b!

    ReplyDelete
  174. Yay! I'm very happy to hear that, I adore the family dynamics on this show. It doesn't even matter when it happens. Thanks a bunch!

    ReplyDelete
  175. Magnus please will we ever get passionate kisses between Chuck and Sarah, don't get me wrong i'm really happy with what we have this season and with the sweetness but i want more than pecks besides Chuck and Sarah are too good for just sweetness ;)

    You are the best!

    ReplyDelete
  176. ZLP, it isn't pure flashbacks.

    Sue, you are welcome.

    ReplyDelete
  177. Anonymous, if that even is your name... if they didn't cut it, then TOMORROW you will.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Thanks Magnus, its good to hear that overall 414 won't be that dark. Since, you were just asked about there being any more Chuck and Ellie scenes in the future, is there any more that you can tell us about the upcoming Sarah and Ellie in the future that you teased about in your last dear DR? Such as what it will be about?

    AB

    ReplyDelete
  179. AB, we shall see... but not right now.

    And 4.14 isn't dark.

    ReplyDelete
  180. Would be kind funny having Ellie ask Sarah to help change baby Awesome... and Sarah looking completely lost....

As for 4.14, you saying it's not dark puts me in the mind that it might be similar in feel to 3.15. Chuch and Sarah are at odds, so to speak, about her moving in....but it's played up fro comedic effect not heavy drama.

    ReplyDelete
  181. Paul, maybe. I really can't say for sure. But to me it doesn't sound like Honeymooners part 2. Maybe someone in the know will correct me.

    ReplyDelete
  182. Magnus wrote: "Or Sarah dies and they never get engaged and season 5 is Chuck all emo about it."

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahhahah

    ReplyDelete
  183. That's a shame. There is not much that would make me happier than another Honeymooners episode. Up till Phase Three it was my all time favorite. As close to a perfect episode as the show has ever done.

BTW any word on who the writers are for 12,13 ( I assume is Fedak) 14 and 15? I'm hoping for LeFranc/Judkins and Kristin Newman.

    ReplyDelete
  184. YAY, family cuteness!!

Are we going to see the baby a lot or will there be only one episode with the awesome baby and then just tiny irrelevant glimpses? Will the baby-effect on Chuck and Sarah play out in a greater arc than one episode?

ps.: Am I the only one who thinks Chuck and Sarah don't have to have babies? Everybody just assumes a happy couple needs a baby...I think if there were a 5th season a baby from Chuck and Sarah would be kinda cheesy.

ps.2: calm down, possible haters, I love babies... I just think it is not the best idea for spies to have them.

    ReplyDelete
  185. I think Chuck wants kids eventually.....and Sarah is likely STILL freaked out by that possibility. Could be one of the things they butt heads over.

    ReplyDelete
  186. I haven't heard much about the baby stuff.

As for who wrote what... I am sure you can find that info somewhere. I didn't memorize all the episode writers. I know... it is weird to me as well. I used to be so invested in who was writing what episode. I barely remember episode names anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  187. I think a great thing they have done is that this season they have given us chuck back! I mean yeah it was cool last season that he became ultra competent and in the end by shooting shaw he became Bryce, Cole, Shaw and every other character we did not want him to ultimately become, but now he is chuck again and yeah people say that they hate him not being like the other male spies, but I am happy we got him back. I think TPTB were so intent on making him like Bryce, Cole and Shaw last season that they forgot that fans did not want that character, they believed that in order for chuck to be worthy of sarah he had to be that guy. But this season they have worked on restoring the guy we love and I am happy with that and please, please, please do not bring back the worst thing to ever happen to this show (cough - shaw - cough), thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  188. Martin, the thing fans need to remember is that "fans" don't want whatever fans think they want. YOU want that. I want this. THEY want that. The only general consensus seems to be that Shaw didn't work as a romantic interest for Sarah. Outside of that, we aren't all in agreement.

And I would welcome bringing Shaw back. He is not going to be Sarah's romantic interest ever again. I would love to see every evil villain that has survived and put in jail, come back to try and kill Team B.

    ReplyDelete
  189. So tonight is the night that Sarah turns evil and crazy shippers will go crazy as well! So, Magnus after reading different blogs and fan reactions, what is your final take on how people will react to tonights episode?

    AB

    ReplyDelete
  190. AB, I prepared people for it for so long that they are all expecting it to be worse than it probably is. So, the reaction might not be all that bad.

Though, this is the CHUCK fandom so...

    ReplyDelete
  191. Dear DR , Exulted High Chancellor of the Chuckverse

I'm guessing there will be a cliffhanger at the end of the episode tonight . So my question is on a scale of 1 −10 how awesome will it be and will it drive us nuts in anticipation for next week ?

    -jean claude van overbite

    ReplyDelete
  192. You guys want to know what negative reaction....read these guys....http://castleinanity.blogspot.com/...even chuckthis people thought it was too harsh!

    ReplyDelete
  193. Well, jean claude, if people don't overreact to the episode, then maybe an eight. Otherwise, 14.

ZLP, I know the site from reading it before and feel no need to subject myself to that horrid writing.

    ReplyDelete
  194. Do you think that no engagement in 4x13 will cause more anger toward the showrunners than 4x12's hate how sarah is written moments?

    ReplyDelete
  195. Jason, that is a loaded question. If I answer it, I then confirm there is no engagement in 4.13. Sorry, I wasn't born yesterday. :)

    ReplyDelete
  196. Aactually Magnus, the answer is easy: there is already enough grumbling in the fandom that no proposal iin 4.13 would likely lead to another meltdown. --- Paul
