  2. I'd definitely be on board for a return of Hannah. And that side story of a relationship with Morgan would really work too. I think they've also left the door open for Jill, but they've brought her back before. That could get old fast. I'm really curious to see who gets axed at the end. I'll be crushed if it's Morgan, Casey, or Awesome (and obviously Chuck and Sarah).

  3. Honestly I don't know if I'm reading to much into the scene. But Orion seemed to know about the lock boxes & spy will from personal experience.

  4. I will go to Comicon and Beg them to breing back my Hannah!!!!!!!!

  5. Yes! I wish Kristin Kreuk would come back too. She was amazing in the episodes she was in and she gave Sarah a run for her money. She's off the charts in the cute meter.

  6. Totally see what you are saying about needing more strong female characters and I say bring back Hannah AND Anna even! That could be so much fun watching Morgan, assuming he doesn't die.

I did read that article about law and order and I agree in the general sense that without enough strong female characters, the ratings could suffer. There is definitely a correlation Magnus, especially apparent with Anna being missing from the cast this season as well.

Agreed with everyone's views on the episode! It really was just so full of awesomeness and fun scenes by everyone in the cast.

I do have a question, which I'm pretty sure will be answered...HOW did Chuck know any intel regarding Shaw's penthouse? He did download the Intersect 2.0 BEFORE anyone even knew what a Shaw was OR before Shaw had a penthouse. Remember, he stayed at Castle and that hotel when he first arrived. HRM!!!!

Oh and I promise not to call Wendy "Queen" anymore, since I know it bugs her! How about Super Cool Wendy (tee hee)...

Thanks to the whole gang for delivering another fine podcast! Even with a larger group, you all seemed to share the mike well! Sometimes, but not often, it kind of falls apart with too many involved, but this one was G-R-E-A-T!!

Can't wait until the finale next week! It's gonna be off the hook!!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Christine, Chuck downloaded the Intersect 2.0 a year ago. So, when did Shaw get the safe installed? Most likely long ago.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Yeah, I understand, but it doesn't make sense that Shaw moved out from DC to be on Team Bartowski, then stayed at Castle and a hotel, especially if he had a Penthouse in LA the whole time. Does that make sense?

In saying what you are saying, it means Shaw has always lived in the LA area, and that is not what was presented this season.

I'm getting at the idea that Chuck is maybe being upgraded (the Intersect) without his knowing it (remotely), thus the Shaw intel with the penthouse and safe info, since it logically doesn't fit with what we, the viewer, has been shown previously. Plot hole, possibly OR I'm reading too much into this.

    Thoughts??

  9. Christine, if he is getting regular updates to the Intersect, then they should have put that in an episode. Mistake on the part of the writers.

  10. You keep talking about Sarah being pregnant and How Chuck and Sarah will not be together in the final episode. So after the Sarah questioning it seems logical that Chuck and Sarah will not be together because she is pregnant with Shaws child that they made in the penthouse. But I thought they were in a penthouse in DC.

    ReplyDelete
  11. ZD, can you please point me to where I have ever said that Chuck and Sarah will not be together in the final episode?

    ReplyDelete
  12. I was hoping on was onto something, darn...

I was thinking maybe something along the lines of Papa B had integrated that capability and had been sending upgrades remotely but had no idea it was Chuck. Maybe thinking it was Bryce, since that was the original plan. although who knows if Papa B even knew if Bryce is dead (or is he).

    It would've been cool....oh well...

    ReplyDelete
  13. There's one thing I don't think you've touched on since Chuck started having the dreams, and that is how the intersect is become intertwined with his subconscious. His subconscious is now working with the Intersect to flash in new ways.

What was it that caused Chuck's subconscious and he Intersect to conclude that Shaw was alive?

Am I reading too much into this, or could this new interaction significant to the story, especially since he is going to have a face off with a newly intersected Shaw? Does it give him an advantage?

  14. AL
Hey magnus alan sepinwall in newest fire&iceberg podcast mentioned that he had seen the finale and said people who had a probelm with this season would enjoy it.

  15. Al
I assume he means first half of season.

  16. AL, well... it would be nice if Alan is right but he and I often differ very much on what is good and what is not. :)

  19. Aaron - Long IslandMay 20, 2010 at 10:59 AM

I realize you might not be able to clarify because it may end up too spoilery, but I can't help but ask: Are you implying that you think Sepinwall is wrong and that the same people will still have problems with the finale (I understand that many of these people will always have issues with what happens in the show)? Or are you trying to say that you don't believe there was anything to take issue with in the first place? Or something else altogether?

    ReplyDelete
  20. First step to getting Kristin Kreuk back is to get Kristin Kreuk fans to vote int his poll! :)

Aaron, all I am saying is that Sepinwall and I can sometimes agree very much... and other times disagree strongly (to the point where I almost feel like someone paid him to be specifically positive or negative). As for how crazies will react... I think they WANT to complain about something. Look at their reaction to the Sarah interrogation scene. They are acting like complete tools.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hey Magnus,
Terrific podcast. I like it so much better than your competitor's at chucktv.

Your point about the show needing stronger female characters is well made. If we could get even half as many women as men watching, the show probably would never have been on the bubble. I think your idea of pairing Hannah and Morgan is comedy gold. I never really liked the idea of her mowing Sarah's grass, but I liked the character and Kreuk's portrayal of her. She and Morgan would be hilarious if they were paired together.

I also agree with your and Lou's description of some of the fans. Gimme a break. So many times I've been reading the comments on the boards and some guy will say how upset he and his wife are with the show, and I'll be like, "wait... you're married? To a woman? How do you live with yourself? I thought you were a 12 year old girl!" It really does seem like the worst shippers are middle aged men with nothing better to do than complain about stuff.

-Dean (with apologies to any actual 12 yr old girls reading this)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Dean, those guys aren't married until I see a video of them making out with the woman they post pictures of themselves with. Until then, I will bet your lives on the fact that it is a sister, old girlfriend, or a cousin. No married man could possibly be SUCH A VIRGIN in their behavior.

  23. This podcast was actually good.

There's been some talk about the fact that the show is watched mostly by men. And there's some reasons why: (by the way i'm a girl and i'm crazy about this show!)
    1. girls like to see other girls as a role model ( i know this can sound weird..) and right now we just have Sarah. It's not enuff! (BRING HANNAH BACK, BRING HANNAH BACK!) Specially, and as you mentioned, it seems like, recently, Sarah/Yvonne has been forced to look ugly (although that's a impossible mission), like she is not a girl anymore, and just a girlfriend.
    2. it wouldn't hurt the show if it turned a bit fashionable (and i'm not saying that all the girls are into fashion, that's a wrong stereotype), but not necessarily less nerdy. Sarah's clothes look so spyish, just bc a girl needs to be confortable to climb a building that doesn't mean she can not look beautiful and sexy while doing it.

PLUS: men are wacthing Chuck, mainly, bc of Yvonne, so it's easy: INVEST MORE IN YVONNE!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Well, they are not making Yvonne look ugly... but they are putting her in makeup, in some scenes, that is not flattering. I thought she looked great in the last episode.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yvonne looked very very sexy in the last episode.
    Thanks,
    Adi

    ReplyDelete
  26. yes, i didn't mean that...and yes, in the last ep, with less makeup or more natural makeup, she looked gorgeous! :)
what i also mean is, if you remember a scene from 3x11 i believe, when in the castle chuck sees sarah in that sexy pose, and he slows down a bit, there we have 2 seconds of hot, genius, and i guess even a bit romantic too combined... in just 2 seconds!! I don't know if it's because i'm a girl but i miss moments like that in this season...and no, i'm not one of those crazy fans that say "oh season 1 and 2 were great and 3 sucks".

    ReplyDelete
  27. Inês, I hear ya... I think we have had several great moments between Chuck and Sarah alone. I don't care as much about the hot moments anymore. I think the quiet loving moments between them are far more potent anyway. I am in mad love with the final scene between them in the last episode. It was like a flashback to season 1 and 2 but with all the weight of season 3.

    ReplyDelete
  28. i agree, i'm not even complaining. ;) they are so perfect together, that's not that easy to find..!

"It was like a flashback to season 1 and 2 but with all the weight of season 3" - i couldn't say better. Although my favourite scene so far it's still the last of 3x14 so pure, so natural, so like an healthy girlfriend and boyfriend.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Agree with you Ines. The best scene from CHUCK.

    ReplyDelete
  30. we should all go to comicon and ask them bring back hannah all together.

    ReplyDelete
  31. There is also a beautiful brunette who is completely underutilizd. I hope they give more to Sarah Lancaster and let her interact more with Yvonne kind of like a bromance with girls. The interrogation scene was uncomfortable for me to watch. I have a daughter who is a couple of years younger than Yvonne and who I hope would not want to be with two men at the same time. Its a father thing. However it appeared that Josh and Chris had more money per episode in the back 6 but if they could use more characters like Justin Sullivan and his goons to attack team Bartowski they could have more money to spend on Hannah using her for her computer savy like they did in the mask only this time working with Morgan.

    ReplyDelete
  32. BJ, Sarah was with two men at the same time? Oh, you mean for like a day? The day between deciding to leave Shaw and be with Chuck when all she did was promise herself to Chuck with a kiss? THE SLUT!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I gained tremendous respect for you guys (Especially you and Lou) for that analysis of the interrogation screen, and the people who are going nuts over it. I was starting to think I was the only one who just thought that scene was just for comedy's sake and thats it.

I've been reading way too many people's complaints about it. People can get psycho over this show. Its just a show.

"OMG SARAH IS RUINED FOR ME NOW, SHE LIED TO CHUCK THIS WHOLE TIME!! THE BRACELET IS RUINED FOR ME BECAUSE SHE KEPT SHAW'S EARRINGS!!!"

Its pretty funny. Anyways, enjoyed the podcast. Keep up the good work.
(Also I agree on Kristin Kruek's return. She was super cute on this show. She needs to hook up with Morgan lol.)

  34. Here's an idea how about we make #CharlesCarmichael and trending topic on sunday or an hour before the show what do you think or #specialagentCharlesCarmichael

    ReplyDelete
  35. Well, on Monday we are just going for #Chuck as a trending term to keep it simple. I will personally be sporting #TeamER in my tweets as well to honor the departing Adler, Miller and Klemmer.

  36. "Chuck" is the ONLY TV show that I have ever followed on the forums. I started doing it last year because I really enjoyed the show and I was wondering what other people thought of this underwatched gem. Last year, I was proud to be a Chuck fan and enjoyed reading comments from other like-minded persons. This year, as the show took on water, I have watched with dismay as fans have cursed each other for having the audacity... to have a different OPINION!

I do not understand why people are being called
names all the time because they have an opinion on what they are consumers of. This week's scene with the earrings is a perfect example. I thought Chuck yelling "Objection" was very funny as was the head-pounding and receipt merry-go-round. I also thought it was bewildering, and not funny, that our once (Season 1 and 2) saintly Sarah, was still wearing jewellry from a man that tried to kill her AND Chuck. Why does this scene have to be all things to all people?

I hope next season we enjoy our show more and hate on one another alot less!

    ReplyDelete
  37. My only problem with the interrogation scene is that it contradicts what they established in America Hero (I think). Said that, it's a funny scene. And even if I don't like it when the "story change" is so evident, I enjoyed the comedy.
Besides I can imagine what Shaw and Sarah did in Shaw's apartment. They talked about Chuck while putting nail polish on :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. My only objection to the interrogation scene was that Sarah was still wearing the earrings. However, it may have simply slipped her mind that they were earrings Shaw gave her (though, knowing women... that is very unlikely). But the moment was used purely for the purpose of comedy. And as I said in the podcast, if it is for the purpose of comedy and not just to create angst, then I can ignore the plot hole.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hi Magnus,

I think it would be so so hilarious if morgan turned around to chuck and says chuck man if we get this wrong (whatever they are doing) we are going to be on the run and what are we going to do then huh? Are we going to become soldiers of fortune like the A-Team, you know me being faceman, casey hanible, you murdoch and sarah BA, lol. That would so, so crack me up and would be like the best 80' reference that they have done, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  40. The interrogation scene was brilliant, it did just what it was supposed to do, it moved the story forward through a feint, it created angst in some, comedy for others and entertainment for the rest. Had Sarah been wearing those earrings on a romantic dinner with Chuck that would not have been good but to work underground in Castle wearing expensive jewelry is always a pick me up.

    ReplyDelete
  41. The interrogation scene was a pretty clear indication of how chicken the show was in approaching the Shaw/Sarah thing. They basically were scared to show the relationship so they only went there after Chuck and Sarah got together and people wouldn't freak out. It's sad really how afraid they were of the "Sarah rule" ... nah actually scratch that, sad is the wrong word, hilarious is more apt.
Which I guess for me is a problem, cause the issue I had with the Shaw/Sarah thing was that based on what was on screen it just wasn't believable, not that I minded Sarah getting a LI. Hence retrofitting romance strikes me as odd. But who cares anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Anonymous (May 22, 2.40pm),

Agree it's something of a problem because as you say many people didn't buy Shaw/Sarah at the time and only Brandon Routh super-fans would want to sit through many more of those scenes. I suppose they could have at least shown why Chuck is the right guy for Sarah by contrasting Shaw with him more directly. For all we know Shaw cries in his sleep and calls out his dead wife's name during sex. Maybe that's what Sarah meant by "It's different" in the Final Exam.

For whatever reason the writers just weren't interested in doing anything with Shaw/Sarah except when they wanted to screw with Chuck. Think that's a shame as the whole Shaw arc could have been quite tragic if I'd cared about Shaw. Widowed hero, who underneath that cold exterior was a broken, hollow mess, hooks up with new love who may set him back on the path to being a whole human being again, only to find out that the new love killed his wife, followed by spiral down into madness and revenge fueled psycho-ness. I can see why much of this sounded better on paper than it ended up being.

But then again the show's called Chuck so I suppose Shaw's journey doesn't really matter except where it directly impacts on Chuck. Maybe if they'd had a bigger budget and more episodes they could have addressed it better.

  43. Hey anonymous & Neil, guess what? It's just a show. Geez why does everything need to be analyzed to death??? Everyone who has problems with the storyline is a writer apparently. There are always going to be holes in storylines cause there is just no way to explain every single detail. The season would never end. I look forward to watching your shows when they come out. Your attention to detail I'm sure will be impecable. You'll show others how it's done!

  44. Hey Nat. So if I read you right people are only allowed to express an opinion if they are relentlessly positive about the show or are a professional writer in the TV industry. That’s going to rule out a lot of the Chuck bloggersphere not to mention most professional TV critics, and even Magnus on occasions. Is that an unfair summarisation of your opinion? Maybe, but fair’s fair. You don’t like my opinion, that’s your prerogative but I’m surprised you’re so easily offended by hearing a point of view that you disagree with as it’s the risk you run whenever you venture onto a fan site. If you disagree you’re free to either ignore the point or engage with it. You just told me to shut up. Personally I thought my post was a reasonable, mildly put criticism of the Shaw arc and how they could maybe have improved it. Hardly worth getting worked up about. I get that you feel you are defending ‘your’ show but Chuck’s been renewed now which is the main thing and I doubt the likes of Chris Fedak or Josh Schwartz are going to get offended by the scribblings of a nobody like me in the unlikely event they even read this site. So where’s the harm?

As it happens I think they do most things right on Chuck hence why I posted a comment on a Chuck fan site (it kind of implies I’m a fan), I just don’t think Shaw was one of them. If I choose to over-analyse the show on a forum after it’s aired that’s my choice. As much as I enjoy Chuck while watching it I also enjoy understanding the process of making TV which is why I don’t underestimate what a difficult job writing a network TV show is. Not many creative enterprises are a work in progress as they are airing in quite the way that a TV show is and I can completely understand how the Shaw arc sounded better on paper than it was in execution. By the time they got an inkling it wasn’t working out as intended it was probably far too late to do anything about it. Episodes are shot and in the can, scripts are written. Do I think it was the worst thing I’ve seen on TV ever? Not by some way. I do though think it’s the biggest mistake they have made on Chuck. Nothing to be done about it now but when the subject comes up I’m not going to pretend I loved it. I do remain positive about the future of the show, and I’m really looking forward to the finale and the next season.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Nat ... Shaw/Sarah was easily the worst handled relationship on TV ever. Now quieten the voices in your head, the fact people point it out doesn't make the show bad or the people "haters", it's a legitimate issue pretty much everybody including the show's most avid supporters have had. Why do people get so insecure whenever the tiniest concern for the show is raised? Do you feel that unless you absolutely worship every single thing about the show then somehow you 're unworthy of being a "fan"?

    Ted

  46. And with that, you all got to speak your mind about this contentious issue (Shaw and Sarah... in my opinion, one of the worst romantic pairings I have ever seen). But only I get to start flame wars, so enough of that. :)
