CHUCK Season 5 Promo!

  1. Thanks for that!

I didn't really like the tone of that; too somber. Fortunately, promos seem to bear as much resemblance to the actual show as a fish does to a bicycle.

  2. I thought it looked like a dramedy... which is the show.

  3. Great job as always, emperor Magnus!

Now, would you be so kind to share if you think, from what you've heard, that this season deserves to be the final (in terms of quality)?

i mean, would it have served the show better had it ended 2 or 3 or 16 finale episodes ago?

  4. Well, I am trying to go into this season as unspoiled as possible, so the things I hear are mostly just scenes and a couple of story lines. But those I know who have either seen whole episodes or at least been there for the shoot, think fans will enjoy it.

They are definitely trying for a season 1 and 2 feel, but I don't know if they have the budget to achieve it. They are doing some interesting things with several arcs to inject a bit of extra drama and comedy into the episodes.

I have no idea if it has worked... but one of my more cynical sources seems to like what he has seen. Granted, he may just be getting nostalgic since the show is almost over.

  5. From what I've seen there isn't going to be a lot of romance for us charah shippers, this season right? They're just going to turn to this boring normal couple, I mean, romanticly speaking... Am I wrong?

  6. There are so many things about that promo that I like.

After a summer full of tedious fan angst about the Morgansect pushing Chuck into the background, the promo very much pushes him into the foreground and shows him very much in on the action.

I get a fuzzy feeling seeing Chuck and Ellie openly discussing the intersect. I know she found out last year, but it's good to see she's involved.

I love that Decker is back.

There's not a lot of Sarah in there, but I liked her telling him he's the leader.

More than anything, I like that the promo exists and appeared four weeks before the premiere. We waited much longer last year.

The first on-air promo didn't appear until 10 days before the premiere and it wasn't even a Chuck promo. It was Chuck promoting the Event.

We got some epk's last year, but no 1-minute promo like this one. It makes the remaining wait much easier.

  7. I se that green screen is in full force, lol, good times, old times, but great times. I like that they seem to be addressing the conspiracy mentioned in the finale, they are showing that chuck without the intersects still throwing punches and being a bad ass action hero jumping out of buildings and is recognised as the leader even though he does not have the intersect. Looks interesting......

  8. There is sound for everyone else.

And from what I have heard, there will be romance of some kind. It may not be what you want, or it may be exactly what you want. We shall see. :)

  9. I believe I had enough romance last season... now bring some action!!

  10. Honeymooners type episodes would be awesome, nothing intense but just loads of making out, hand holding, cuddling, fighting bad guys, etc. Oh and smiling!

  11. I'm glad we have a promo so soon and i'm happy we get to see Chuck as a competent spy and leader even without the intersect, it's a well deserved character development
As for the romance part, i hope Magnus is saying there will be romance in the show but it will be between Casey and his new love interest or something like that
no offense to Chuck & Sarah but they lost their spark & passion a long time ago, of course if you folks don't class pecks & hugs as hotness
so maybe it's time for a new couple to provide sexiness to the show with nice kisses and sexy times

  12. They are trying to inject some interest back into the Chuck and Sarah romance... but whether it will be successful will be up to the viewers. Casey's romance is obviously going to be a focus and a way to give him some character growth but I haven't heard much about it.

  13. *sighs* I hate that they are promoting the flimsy conspiracy angle so hard.

  14. The whole conspiracy thing seems to be going exactly where I thought it was at the end of last season... to a place where quality, logic, and narratives go to die alone.

  15. When the season 4 finale was airing i was feeling very optimistic of a good season 5.

All the storylines of season 4 were wrapping up and you had Sarah, Chuck and Casey going out on their own which sounded real good.

Then two things happened you had Morgan getting the intersect and Decker's speech to Chuck about him just being a pawn and everything in his life was planned.

I thought those last two scenes could be jump the shark territory for this show.

With Decker coming back it seems the writers are planning on going somewhere with that storyline.

No matter what they do i don't think Chris Fedak, Josh Schwartz and company can come up with a storyline good enough to please Chuck fans even if it's a good explaination.

I don't really like retcons and this whole thing with Decker seems like it will be some big retcon that changes the whole backstory of the show.

I've seen a lot of shows in their final season piss off their fans by going in unnecessary directions and i hope that's not the case with Chuck.

To me Chuck and Breaking Bad are the best shows still on the air and i'd like Chuck to stay that way during it's final season.

  16. As I often say, season finales and series finales (including final seasons) are more often than not lacking what more discriminating fans (read people with taste) think is good.

I don't think CHUCK is going to change that belief, at least on the story telling front.

  17. I am curious to see how they are going to relight the passion between Chuck and Sarah because that's the problem, they still have hart warming moments but the passion area is totally dead
When you watch scenes from early seasons they look like a hot, young couple about to devour each other but when you watch them in season 4 they look like grandma & grandpa being afraid they will loose their prosthesis if they get to physical :D
that's a shame when the couple is played by two attractive young actors, especially since they showed in the past they can have entertaining scenes together

By the way, the last Breaking Bad episode was great Gus is such a badass mobster ! and Jess was awesome in the ending, can't wait to see what happens next !

  18. Listening to Firewall and Iceberg's latest podcast it makes me wonder what NBC is going to do this season....I mean I know in my heart and brain that Chuck is done after these 13 episodes, but according to them there is a chance that along with chuck going there is a big chance that a lot of their new shows are going to be dead...and that there is not enough new mid season shows available to fill all the holes...as they put it...NBC are in dire straights...I mean what happens if Chuck get a 1.5 for 13 episodes? considering they are a bargain basement show at this point...wow.

  19. Please don't tell me you were being serious about that amnesia storyline. Is that how they plan to make the Chuck/Sarah romance a bit more interesting this season? If Sarah temporarily loses her memory and falls for the new intersect........

Btw, any word on the relationship between Casey and Gertrude? Do Adam and Carrie play well off each other?

  20. So Sepinwall is talking about something I posted here months ago?

    ReplyDelete
  21. X, like I said, I haven't heard much about that relationship.

    ReplyDelete
  22. To be fair I think they were laughing when they said Chuck could go a little further, lol. But it does beg the question that I am afraid for community, parks and rec and other shows that I love on the network. I know that Chuck will not go further...I mean it sounds like the WB got their 88 and are done with losing money, but as for the rest of the shows that are tanking that I love...yikes!

  23. CHUCK will get more if NBC feels a desperate need for more... and is willing to pay more for the production. That is unlikely to happen but we will know in a few weeks.

  24. I'm at the point with Chuck where this season is like when a band releases an album with bonus tracks that weren't in the original album.

I'm not expecting brilliance or any logic to it or that it's material that would have been in the main part of the album. I'm just going to consume because I really like the band.

  25. @MediaSavant: That's exactly my feeling!

    I just wish:

    a) Morgan would be deintersected on 5X03, haha.
    b) a tiny bit of logic on the conspiracy.

Yep, I know it is too much to ask, but a girl can dream, right?

Am I the only one that had a problem with the editing of the promo?

    ReplyDelete
  26. I like this promo and I just hope there are at least one awesome action scene with morgan in it until he loses the intersect.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I liked the promo and I missed chuck a lot!!! I hope morgan will lose intersect very soon!!! I want to see more chuck scene... I hope Decker won't thread chuck's life I can't imagine if chuck's life is in danger or he will die:(((

  28. For the most part I agree with the comments above. I like that they highlighted the fact that Chuck is still the focus of the show. The promo seemed to have a lot of energy which I like. I Like the analogy also of treating this season as a bonus, so I'm trying to go in with a bit of optimism (although that "inject interest" comment worries me lol). Overall, though I'm just happy to see a promo of any decent length this early on, might make the wait a little more bearable.

  29. Romance, shmomance. Having watched the season premiere of The Good Wife, I'm realizing you have to watch a CBS show featuring 40-somethings to get a hot sex scene. Fully clothed, even.

  30. Master of All Things Chuck,

you probably already know, but they are apparently casting for Sarah's mom. Do you know anything about this?

And who would be your dream actress for the part?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I would like to see someone in their mid-40s who is HAWT. Who fits that?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Jeri Ryan is too young. She is 14 years older than Yvonne.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I am sure they could make her LOOK older.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Mamemimomu, not to quibble but the question was mid forties, right? Jeri is 43 so for me it was close enough.
