As Chuck fights, Sarah gets hotter -- Property of WB |
WARNING! EXPECT SPOILERS (so if you haven't watched, don't read!)
It has been TWO WEEKS since a new episode and you were all itching for more CHUCK! So, what did you think? Did the Greta stuff live up to the build-up? Did you like the Chuck and Sarah as B-Team storyline? What is the deal with Ellie? How will Captain Awesome react? Is Robin Givens getting hotter? Speak your mind!Oh... and did you vote in the poll on the right side?!?!
"it's like a CBS show, ugh" ha nice
ReplyDelete"Cia? What the hell kind of name is Cia?"
ReplyDelete"This handprint is too small it looks like a child's. .....Oh."
ReplyDeleteApple juice saves the WORLD!
ReplyDeleteChuck and Sarah will ALWAYS be the A Team.
ReplyDeleteSo.. there were two DECENT kisses AND mentions of Chuck and Sarah's sex life? To quote Neo.. 'Woah." Seriously! I laughed so hard at Chuck's sex line, rofl.
ReplyDeleteEpisode was quite enjoyable. Also liked an old throwback to the first episode with Chuck and the bomb, minus porn. Only this time.. apple juice.
I loved this episode!!!
ReplyDeleteOf course, NOBODY can replace our beloved Chuck Bartowski as the Human Intersect and get away with it! Chuck is special.
Very happy to have Phil Klemmer back. Great directing by Kevin Mock. All around excellent episode.
ReplyDeleteIt was epic as usual. Hopefully the renew it. Best show on TV. Every vote for it on hulu best of show. Its up on modern family
ReplyDeleteOverall a good episode, not great, but good.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I believe this pretty much rules out that Shaw could still have the Intersect (in case they ever bring him back)
Also nice to know that Chuck and Sarah don't just cuddle in their spare time... :)
Good callbacks: Orion's Intersect misuse fears, the Reagan pic, and defusing the bomb from the pilot in particular.
ReplyDeleteNice also to see Chuck and Sarah being imperfect and driven by jealousy and ego, rather than the writers trying to push it as some kind of concern for Casey.
Casey seems to be caught up in Bentley's schemes and I'll be interested to see if the "third wheel" dynamic changes when he's back with Team B.
Good humor throughout, testing of the team dynamic, and Chuck saving the day through more than just flashes. I like Morgan but I don't feel like I missed him not being in the middle of things. That really helped the more old school feel. Klemmer did a good job on this one.
All in all, easily my favorite since Push Mix.
Cor
So......Casey is the villain once again. Ugh. I think I'd be happier if they just killed him off. Why is he no longer allowed to be useful, as well as a decent human being?
ReplyDeleteXerxes
Great series!
ReplyDeleteFrom Russia, with love to Chuck)) he has a lot of fans here, but its complicated to watch new episodes....
That was one of the strongest stories in a long time. Phil Klemmer did a great job.
ReplyDeleteThe interactions between Chuck and Sarah were really good throughout. I got that "true partnership" vibe from them.
I, too, appreciated the reference to a sex life. I've often thought that with all the flying around they do, these two should be platinum members of the Mile high club. Maybe they could work on those special miles.
I'm really thankful to see Ellie dragged into the spy world, even if she doesn't know it yet. This could be the genesis of a really cool story arc.
For the first time in a long while, I'm back in "what happens next" mode.
From the preview, it looks like the story continues.
@Xerxes: Casey was the villain? Did I miss something here?
ReplyDeletesarah: are you really about to disarm a bomb using fruit juice
ReplyDeleteChucl: yes
sarah: go for it
CHUCK AND SARAH WILL ALWAYS BE A-TEAM!!!!!
GO APPLE JUICE!!
@Wyndzorz:By going along with Bentley's plan to get Ellie involved with the intersect. Casey will once again be the heartless monster who places his job above all else. When Chuck, Sarah, and Morgan find out about this, he will be in the same position he was in for Chuck vs. the Colonel. Then he'll have to beg their forgiveness and swear never to betray his team again.
ReplyDeleteXerxes
Loved It- Team B wouldn't be complete without Casey! On a side note... I loved Ellie trying to get Orion's computer back from Jeff and Lester with the "we made a video" line. Hysterical.
ReplyDeleteXerxes, you seem to have a perception deficiency.
ReplyDeleteOverall pretty solid episode. A little slower than it's been, but that didn't take away from the quality at all. Hopefully the curse of the DST didn't hurt this week too much.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad they are starting to get into some of the Chuck mythology again. I was just thinking about the fact that there has been a lot less this season than in the past. The main focus was on mama B and the Chuck/Sarah relationship - which I'm perfectly ok with - but it's nice change of pace to move forward with the mythology side. The cypher, intersect cube, etc. played a much bigger role in season 2, and my nerdy side appreciates that they are hitting some of that again.
Casey didn't look like he was objecting to what Bentley was proposing. Will Chuck suddenly like the idea of Ellie being involved in the spy world again?
ReplyDeleteXerxes
I don't see it either, Xerxes. I think Bentley's going to go down at some point but I don't think they're going to mysteriously suddenly doubt Casey's loyalty. When push came to shove here and there was a direct conflict of interest he clearly backed Chuck and Sarah. They know it, he knows it. He might end up in hot water with Bentley's claws in him, but they're not going to believe he's the shadowy figure who might coldly shoot them in the back from s1. They've come too far for that.
ReplyDeleteCor
if anybody was wondering why adam baldwin aka john casey has not been on as many episodes is because he has finished 2 movies called "InSight" and "The Assignment."
ReplyDeletePS I am changing my name on this for from Greg to Canadian Greg so people don't get confused with the other Greg that seems to have just came into the chuckgasmic group
It is like Bentley did not even read casey's report properly. The problem is not in the intersect programing it is the intelligence of the chosen agents! Duh, that is probably why they are interviewing lots of geeks in the next episode. The problem is how do you find a geek who is also very physically fit and very attractive so that they can pass themselves off as an agent. I have met very few people who are physically athletic (a sportsman), intelligent (like chuck, who can think quickly in high pressure situations) and great looking....sarah really has hit the jackpot, LOL! Chuck is special
ReplyDeleteWill Chuck or Sarah ever have a Birthday? No Christmas this year either. =(
ReplyDeleteAre there budget problems with the extension of the season? Why were there only "extras" in attendance at Chuck's engagement party? No Buy More Crew, except Morgan? No Jeffster?
ReplyDeleteWow what happened to the Chuck that had too much going on. This was a simple story line with no real elements of danger. It was cute that Sarah stood by Chuck and I enjodyed her competitive spirit to not become the B team, even though they are team B (Bartowski)I hope they pick up the pace. Chuck needs to learn to move as the Michelan tire man. I was hoping he would fall over and Casey would roll him over to the bomb.
ReplyDeleteThe board games with Sarah really??
Yeah, when Chuck and Sarah are bored, they play board games. YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT?!
ReplyDeleteBJ, I'm pretty sure Chuck mentioned playing board games with Sarah in between missions before so it's not like suddenly it came out of nowhere. That was why we got that scene of Morgan, Casey, and Chuck playing Risk in the first half of the season.
ReplyDeleteCor
"Yeah, when Chuck and Sarah are bored, they play board games. YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT?!"
ReplyDeleteI thought it was cute and nice continuity regarding vs. the Gobbler, but I was still really glad that Sarah did remind Chuck about the possibility of sex instead of only using games to pass time in the end. :D
I loved the ep. Can´t remember when I last laughed that much during Chuck. Chuck and Sarah´s dynamic was really really funny. And I especially enjoyed Morgan´s role throughout. Ellie getting involved again was a nice curveball as well. I also thought her motivation was well done and I liked that an external force gets her involved again. And the Jeff and Lester plot did fit well.
I maybe would have liked Sarah to be more important to the final solution, as she had been sidelined just as much as Chuck. Although I guess her and Casey believing in Chuck was important and is something that makes the team great.
I read some complaints about people not liking even the possibility of anyone other than Chuck having an intersect, because they want him to be physically special, but I actually really like when they make Chuck special because of what he does with the intersect instead of just his physical capability for having it being unique.
I was very upset that Sarah and Chuck were de-moted! What's up with that? And Casey, where was your loyalty? Those two (2) Greta(s) could NEVER hold a candle to Chuck! Chuck and Sarah rule!!
ReplyDeleteLoved it!! I am totally gonna start drinking more 100% Apple Juice....it may save my life one day!! Chuck once again made my night....and now I know I'm not the only one who plays board games when I'm bored! And for those who are dissin the board games....like Magnus said YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH IT?? (Bring on the next episode....and BRING ON SEASON 5!!!)
ReplyDeleteAwelle, it just goes to show that a portion of this fandom is hellbent on finding problems with anything. Chuck IS special. He doesn't even need the Intersect to be special. But the fact that he can do things with or without it and still be badass, that is what makes him special.
ReplyDeleteWe have known since season 1 that others can use the Intersect. We saw it applied in season 3.
P.S.
ReplyDeleteApple juice is good for you. It cleans out bad things that can cause you problems down the line. Drink apple juice every day. :)
I have a RewardTV account. I will try to get on the RewardTV website tomorrow and do their quizzes while watching the episode that I recorded on DVR.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I recommend eating apple fruit along with drinking apple juice. Apple fruit contains fiber, which you won't get if you just drink the juice.
ReplyDeleteLoved it! Especially how reminiscent it was of the first episode of Chuck where he disarmed the C4 bomb with porn. Comedic genius!
ReplyDeleteLoved the episode so predictable. Let me guess Jane Bentley is killing all the nerd recruits she believes the cream of the crop will float.
ReplyDeleteFred
Fred, that comment is grammatically one of the worst in a long time.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the grammitical errors, I play bored games.
ReplyDeleteFred
BOARD GAMES!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou nut.
Great ep. the only thing that killed me was the dragged out piece with the toyota seyena
ReplyDeleteI mentioned in the last podcast (but it got cut because I had a crap microphone) that Chuck and Sarah's career path (let alone Casey's) ever get referenced and by now they should be running the CIA. I also mentioned that with Chuck taking down 3 massive organisations and taking down billions of dollars worth of Assets, Team B is more profitable then Apple and that the CIA/NSA/Beckman should have their lips firmly placed on Team B's Bums.
ReplyDeleteThat said, it is a tv show and a comedy one at that! If they ever really progressed chuck and team b's careers then no one would or could challenge them and they would be office bound! Not much of a great story with team b and office supplies. Yeah the Gretta's coming in from out of nowhere makes no sense but it did do something fun and that is show how smart and awesome chuck is, I love it! Also Sarah was so funny, the fact that chuck had to play the straight guy to sarah was awesome.
I really loved this episode, even though none of the storyline made complete sense it was still awesome!
Yeah, the problem with doing any TV show is that you are going to only allow your characters to evolve so much before you have to yank them back. So, one way the CHUCK writers have avoided having to do the constant 1-step-forward-2-steps-back dance that practically EVERY show does, is by playing loose with the logic of the CIA/NSA.
ReplyDeleteThis is just part of the show. Why fans wait for there to be some big growth on that front I don't fully understand. It is like they are pretending to be bothered by it so they can seem more critical and thereby sound more knowledgeable about the writing process.
Fact is, if they ever got a job writing for a show, THEY WOULD DO THE SAME THING.
I can just imagine it....Chuck, Sarah and Casey sitting in the oval office having sips of tea with the president because they are now at the top of the agency. Or it could be hours of meetings in the millitary room where they only decisions that have to make is whether to invade certain countries or not, whether to drop a bomb or not, lol....It would be so boring!
ReplyDeleteAnother thing about this episode that was refreshing was the lack of any wedding planning talk. We needed a break from that. Board games and plane sex are much more entertaining ways for them to spend their downtime.
ReplyDeleteSmart move, writers.
Right on!
ReplyDeleteNo worries, though, we return to wedding talk soon! ;)
I really enjoyed the episode. Glad to have Phil Klemmer back. One quick thought that hopefully someone can clear up for me. Where in the chain of command does Director Bentely fall? In some scenes/dialogue it seems to imply that she is above General Beckmen where as in others it appears otherwise. On a related note, Robin Givens is an absolutely awful actress.
ReplyDeleteRobin Givens was fine for what she had to do. I have seen people who deserve to be called awful... and applying that to her is hyperbole. But then that IS what fans do.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, the command structure on this show is ridiculous so it is pointless to wonder about it too much. After all, the CIA wouldn't be anywhere near this mission. In the real world, Sarah and Casey would both be NSA, or Sarah would be FBI or DHS. The Intersect would most likely have been a military project and fallen under the jurisdiction of the NSA or DHS. But on TV, it is cool to say CIA so that is what they went with.
It just isn't as cool or easily understood to say that Sarah is a DHS agent (most would get confused and think she was a delivery girl for DHL) or that the Intersect was a project by some secret group within military intelligence (most of them are not named, nor spoken about anywhere and the public has no idea they even exist on the level they do).
Another great episode !!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for 4.19. The promo makes it look like another good one too.
In ref to the survey I would rather see Sarah barefoot and chained to something else :)
I think in movies and tv, the law enforcement structure in the US is like.
ReplyDelete1) Town Police with sheriffs.
2) City police like the LAPD.
3) State Police.
4) FBI/DEA
5) NSA/CIA
So Magnus is right that the CIA/NSA sounds cool because many TV programs or Movies make out that the CIA is awesome and they have the best technology and resources, better then any other federal agency. I mean do you remember in chuck versus the fat lady when casey said they are the FBI how difficult can it be! LOL! But in a way it does not make sense because the NSA/CIA are first not allowed to operate on the US soil and secondly they are not law enforcement agency they are officially not allowed to arrest people.
If you watch the tv series Leverage everytime the hacker creates an alias for his team, he says that unless the CIA/NSA checks then the team will be fine.
That is a big thing that works especially for CHUCK because we all wonder how does team b travel to all these global destinations in like 5 minutes...it is because they are CIA/NSA and they are cool and they can do that. How come the Allias that team b get are never really questioned....it is because they are CIA/NSA and they are cool and they can do that, and so on and so forth. Team b being CIA/NSA allows for CHUCK to paper over most of the plot holes in the show and allows for the show to go the pace it does. Why do they have the best technology....it is because they are CIA/NSA and they are cool and they can do that, sorry I had to add the last one!
Amrit, incorrect. The CIA is not allowed to operate domestically (or at least run operations domestically, but their agents can attach to legal operations). The NSA is the domestic operations group. Also, any US citizen can make an arrest. They could also get sued for it (a man is suing two secret service agents for just such a thing). Police simply have extended powers of arrest that citizens do not. Therefor, an agent can arrest someone but would then need to turn over custody to a law enforcement officer.
ReplyDeleteIn any event, none of this matters because I doubt the show/writers care (or most of the viewers for that matter).
That is true Magnus, fans only care about chuck and sarah and what happens in the Buymore. I mean when they were disarming the nuke I had a smile on my face because sarah was smiling and so I felt no danger. That is not a slant on the show, it is just that apart from parts of the shaw arc, usually I just smile through all the spy stuff....BTW was this not the most adorable chuck and sarah episode!
ReplyDeleteMagnus,
ReplyDeleteI guess we'll have to agree to disagree on the Robin Givins thing. I don't see it as hyperbole. I didn't say she is the "worst ever" or "nobody could possibly be worse" I said she is really bad and I stand by that. I'm not sure why that opinion is getting lumped in with "typical fan behavior/reaction".
-Just for clarification sake, my question on the chain of command had nothing to do with 1) show continuity or 2) application to real life (i.e sarah really being a DHS agent) and more so me just not understanding who is in charge between beckmen and bentley. In one scene bently says something to the effect of "thats why i told general beckmen to have you..." imply she is in charge but later on Beckman is repremanding her and her team making it seem as though she is in charge. I just honestly cant tell who is in charge between the two women.
Craig, it is always good to stand by your opinions, especially when they are nutty. ;)
ReplyDeleteAmrit, it was a pretty cute episode for them as a spy team. I was having a lot of fun in general.
Well, I did my part in helping the show. I went to the RewardTV website and did the quiz.
ReplyDeleteNow I shall try to persuade my mom to buy something from the NBC store!
I will DEFINITELY want to buy something from the NBC store.
ReplyDeleteI want that Buy More lunchbox.
Yo Magnus - was the kiss at the end what you meant by "intimacy" that was coming up
ReplyDeleteYou wrote:

I write:
Could you at least TRY to remember that, for all your posturing, that YOU are just a fan. Your opinion about Givens' talents (or lack thereof) are just ONE opinion of ONE fan.
Humility is always a virtue. Posturing and trying to inflate yourself by denigrating others almost never is.
1.6 with 5 mil viewers - not great but could have been worse.
ReplyDelete1.6 in the fast overnight ratings. good? bad? seems to be much better than most people would have thought it would do, considering daylight savings time, two week break, etc.
ReplyDeleteSaw the ratings. Chuck is on life support but next week may finally seal this shows fate. It seems like only the diehard internet peeps are still hanging on. Hopefully The cast has some jobs lined up for next year. Now we really need Ali to write the series finale.
ReplyDeleteHH
Finally, a quality episode after a long while! I enjoyed every second, every scene, every word, every convo, every kiss, every character on it (yes, even Jeffster..I honestly can't stop laughing with the CIA thingy). I have no other words..I can't..I JUST FRIGGIN' LOVE THIS SHOW. That's it. And I want another season!
ReplyDeleteHaha Twister was one of the board games they had down in castle. They definitely have a sex life lol.
ReplyDeleteGreat episode btw, that Jeffster scene with the special powers was too funny
what makes this episode good, is that it contains everything that fans would like to see more of.
ReplyDelete-It had action, (hurt locker ftw)
-An interesting story
-CS comedy
-not alot of CS relationship focus.
-Buy More Comedy
- Two decent CS kiss/moments
The episode has something that every spectum of the CS fandom can be content with
Quick question. Maybe I'm interpretating just too much into it, but after the Greta shot the bad guy at the airport, she looked a bit confused as if she didn't believe she just pulled the trigger. Could it be that the Gretas never were fully in control of the intersect?
ReplyDeleteBob
I hate every time the day after a Chuck's episode because there are people who always complain about everything from Sarah's lipstick up to Chuck's t-shirts. But I hate the most when the ratings are out and everybody despise my show and tell the worst things. Anyway I hope eventually to get another season that will be my revenge...
ReplyDeleteSorry for my outbreak
WHAT?!!! @melwicker there's a Buy More LUNCHBOX?????? I don't care if I out grew them in the 5th grade, I need one of those maaan... I hope it's plastic...
ReplyDeleteOn a related note, LOVED this episode. It was so funny!! Chuck and Sarah had great dynamics on their investigations into Casey, and I loved the beginning scenes with Casey & Morgan, and Chuck & Sarah getting bored.
I've heard some chatter from fans about Casey being a douche, but I didn't see this at all. I thought this episode addressed an issue that did exist (him no longer being an integral part of the team) and I felt sad for him a few times.
The only criticism I'd have is that in the end, especially when Sarah and Chuck got coupl-y after defusing the bomb, Casey's point hit home harder than ever. I wanted them to celebrate with Casey a bit more, not just be like 'yay, we're the A team again'. But I'm really not upset about it much.
The episode was funny, current to topics - Ellie and Awesome's stuff was great ('We're going to have to have a 2nd baby' - fantastic!) and I didn't skip through the Buy More stuff. It's funny how ellie is kinda like a spy in that she manipulates hard work out of jeffster, and 'Cia' as a name :) I wasn't excited for this episode, and didn't rush to watch it, but I honestly thing it was one of the best of S4.
Final ratings: It was a 1.60 A18-49, even in the hundredths. Viewers were 4.9 million.
ReplyDeleteW18-49: 1.62, M18-49: 1.59
M18-34 still much weaker than the past at 1.12.
Magnus, thanks for your site and podcast. I just completed a donation to you.
ReplyDeleteI have a question. Now that "Chuck" appears to be winding down, what has this show been about? My favorite opinion, Magnus, was yours when you compared "Chuck" to a superhero origin story. That made sense to me. Chuck has a unique brain that can process a tremendous amount of data and even turn it into action. At the end of Season 3, Chuck had evolved beyond the CIA and was poised to conduct his own missions for his own purposes.
I'm not so sure anymore. Intersects are now common and Chuck is still taking orders from the CIA - not exactly unique. My new thinking is that since the show began with Chuck meeting Sarah, and is presumably ending with Chuck marrying Sarah, that the central theme of the show has been the romance with spy story filling in some of the blanks of Chuck's evolution from geeky guy avoiding his own birthday party to a more substantial and confident individual. I'm a big fan of the Chuck and Sarah romance, but the idea that it was the unequivocal main arc disappoints me. I don't feel Chuck has met his superhero potential. What do you think?
Bad Leg
1.6 isn't that bad. Obviously my post about how you can save CHUCK helped. I am your hero now!
ReplyDeleteAs for the person who said I am just a fan too... not really. I am on a level above you all because now I have saved CHUCK all by myself. MOOHAHAHAHA!!!!
(someone will not get the intent right here and go around badmouthing me for this comment, which I welcome)
Bob, yes... the Gretas were more slaves to the Intersect than Chuck has ever been.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bad Leg!
ReplyDeleteAs for your question... talk to me at the end of the season. Don't start to decide NOW what it all means. There is still more story to tell.
Yes, there is a Buy More lunchbox. I think it's a metal lunchbox, not a plastic one.
ReplyDeleteYou can buy it at the NBC.com store.
Magnus
ReplyDeleteIts gonzo. A large part of my heart doesn't want it to end I will keep jockeying it to the end. If it's ratings stay right here is it a close call or not really close at all. As always, it's an honor - give me one more season with Ali in the fold. M
Right on, Mark. It would be nice... and then maybe we could do one more Chuckfest. :o)
ReplyDeleteJ says ...
ReplyDeleteWhat a great episode ALL around . Phil Klemmer did a marvelous job in his return . I may in the minority here , but I laughed out loud when Chuck was talking about the Toyota . It was blatantly obvious , but I liked it .
It was also nice that Morgan wasn't a central part of the episode for a change . I love Morgan , but it was quite nice that he was relegated this week to how Casey usually is in episodes . The scenes that Morgan did have were hilarious . Protecting his " domestic partner " . Gomez rocks !!
The Chuck and Sarah stuff was fantastic . Awesome and Ellie were great . Jeffster were really funny doing there take on Bill Murray's ESP test from Ghostbusters ( which Sepinwall pointed out ) .
I liked the Gretas and Robin Givens . For the first time in a longsy long time ( lol ) I really felt a sense of drama with the Chuck and Bently scene where Chuck was trying to take back Orion's lap top , only to have Bently stop him in his tracks and take it from Chuck . I was like B#%^* no you didn't . More of that please .
I don't know what all the kufuffle is about Casey . He felt under appreciated and had an offer to join another team to play a bigger part . Casey likes action and he seemed to be getting a lot of it with the Gretas . But when push came to shove Casey put his support behind Chuck and Sarah which was expected but nice to be reassured . I thought Casey's journey throughout the episode was spot on . His scenes with Sarah were great and he gave Chuck his favorite flavor juice box which led the the disarming of a suitcase nuke lol .
The 1.6 could have been worse . I thought it would have been in the 1.4 range . Next week will be interesting to see what happens . OMG @ The Event - 1.2 . I wonder how much ad money NBC will be returning to advertisers there .
RE: a possible 5th season , 2 words ..... COMIC CON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I definitely agree that the episode was one of the strongest of season 4. Klemmer is a genius. I don't like the idea of Ellie being manipulated anymore, so I hope that story line turns out okay! I will miss Chuck if it's cancelled, but we have been lucky to have 4 seasons people! Enjoy the show, we may only have a few episodes left. Complaining will get you no where :)
ReplyDeleteMagnus, looking forward to the podcast!
Bethany
"The title of the May 16 season finale is “Chuck vs. The Cliffhanger"
ReplyDeletesource: latest Ask Aussiello
Magnus, plz tell us NBC and WB have made a deal already and you are just messing with us. :)
Tom
Haha the name of the finale is Chuck vs the Cliffhanger. How ballsy - I love it
ReplyDeleteJf
NBC is currently doing a survey if you watch Chuck online, it asks about ads and shows you watch from NBC. It is probably a good idea for everyone to get one that too- you can tell them where your watching Chuck if not on T.V..
ReplyDeleteEven though I bet they are just trying to create buzz and it revolves around a legitimate cliffhanger situation.
ReplyDeleteJf
Great episode.
ReplyDelete- Hurt Locker reference.
- Operation.
- CIA (seeyah).. oh,Lester.
- Casey, my juice box!
- Two kisses and a sex mention...did TPTB see the poll (hahaha)?
- The Orion Laptop.
- Morgan had peed his pants... ew, gross, but still funny.
- Jealous Sarah.
- Ellie involved.
- Chuck walking around like the Stay Puft Man.
- The A-Team disarming a bomb in the same position they were on the pilot.
BTW, how weird that the episode deals with the possibility of a nuclear explosion affecting a big city and all that is happening in Japan?
FYI, CYT63 is uploading as we speak. I barely edited it so... enjoy the babbling. :)
ReplyDeleteExcuse me!
ReplyDeleteThe Intersect cannot be removed; it can only be suppressed as in "Vs. The Fear of Death."
ACKNOWLEDGE THIS, PLEASE.
Also, WHY DID FROST EVER STIFLE THE THING IN THE FIRST PLACE?
"Your father never wanted you to see this..."
WHAT?!
Enforcer, I suggest you go watch Chuck Vs. the Colonel. The Intersect can certainly be removed. The Intersect wasn't removed by his mother, it was only suppressed. Plus, how do you know there isn't something special about Chuck? Or that there is more to that story? There is no need to explain it. Just keep watching.
ReplyDeleteIf it were up to me Chuck would be renewed, the Event would be cancelled, and V on ABC would also be cancelled, since V is a terrible show with a hopelessly pessimistic plot. Unfortunately, it is not up to me.
ReplyDeleteI certainly hope that Chuck would be renewed for another season, even if season 5 is the final one.
Was the intersect only suppressed by Chuck's mom, or was it removed? The intersect extraction device used on the Gretas looked similar to the PSP device used by Chuck's mom.
ReplyDeleteWhat Chuck's mom did was suppress it. She did not remove it. He was still able to start a flash but he couldn't complete it.
ReplyDeleteI really hated Robin Givens' character. She was really EVIL for trying to replace Chuck Bartowski with her emotionless intersected Gretas.
ReplyDeleteMagnus, do you think that the Event and The Cape were dragging down Chuck in the ratings?
ReplyDeleteI feel that the Event is dragging down Chuck in the ratings, ad so did the Cape. The Event was a show that confused and baffled viewers. Both The Cape and The Event weren't exactly Nielsen viewer-friendly with their dark and murky, often baffling storylines. I'm afraid that both those shows reflect badly on Monday Nights as a whole and thus negatively impact Chuck's ratings.
Only Harry's Law was even remotely viewer friendly and straightforward in it's storylines, and it isn't exactly geared toward the 18 to 49 age demo.
melwicker, you are supposed to hate her character.
ReplyDeleteAs for THE EVENT and THE CAPE dragging CHUCK down in the ratings... no. I don't see how a 9pm show affects an 8pm show in any negative way. However, those shows could say that CHUCK didn't help them much.
I could just ask my Ouija board why Chuck is suffering in the ratings. Doubt it would give me the right answer though.
ReplyDeleteMy best guess is that for whatever reason, the studio/network and/or show runners bought into the "this is a show for families" myth and toned down the sex (or eliminated it except in conversation).
ReplyDeleteI just don't think men 18-34 are all that interested in cheesecake. They want hot sex. That is why they watched in the millions for the first few seasons. They wanted to see Chuck get Sarah. And then he got her and... suddenly the hotness of their relationship became... NOTness.
Sure, they are still adorable together and we have seen the intimacy of their relationship on different levels, but if your biggest audience is young men, then cater to them more. Instead, this show seemed to abandon their superficial needs.
Then 18 to 34 year old men are silly and shallow-minded if what they expected and wanted to see was hot sex on a major network television show. The censors would not allow any television program to show explicit or superficial sex on a show in Chuck's time slot. It would be against the "family values" of the network censors.
ReplyDeleteThere is a reason that the show's networks decided to tone down the hotness/sexual themes of the show: Moral Guardians and censors would expect that this show conforms to pre-watershed standards of being family-friendly. The networks don't think that hot sex on a show in the 7 to 8 pm time slot is family friendly.
If those men wanted to see superficial hot sex, they should rent porn or something. They should not expect that a network should cater to their superficial needs when those needs go against the so-called "family values" and moral standards set by the networks.
I'm sorry if I sound like a prude, but that's the way it is. Moral Guardians think that a sexual relationship should be discreet and implied, and it should lead to marriage and children. Of course, for the sake of drama, most of television does not strictly conform to their standards anyway. Network standards are not necessarily mine or yours.
No one is seriously talking about explicit sex. And young men are shallow. Welcome to Earth.
ReplyDeleteOrion is the only person capable of removing the Intersect, then.
ReplyDeleteGiven that both Gretas were looking at the SAME blue and winding screen that Frost put in front of Chuck's eyes in the basement of his old home, Rick and Vicky have suppressed Intersects in their brains.
If Rick or Vicky get captured in the field, all it's gonna take is a Phase Three for the government's intelligence to fall into the wrong hands.
Clearly, I get it, Magnus. I get that the show is something to take lightly. But all this time, I have felt very passionately about the history and details of the Intersect and its mythology.
Now, however, the show has even burned that. Orion's laptop that awaited under the driver's seat of the Mustang was ridiculously nonsensical. It didn't add anything new to the Intersect; if it had, that arc would have made sense. However, as a viewer, I'm left to believe that Orion predicted that his wife would return to suppress his son's Intersect. Of course, Orion did not predict that the CIA would take it and use it for Intersecting other agents. I find the laptop's existence ridiculous.
Still, now that Ellie has the piece of technology in her hands, there is a chance the writers can expand upon their originally pathetic idea and make it something more...pretend that the real intention of the laptop was to help Ellie in some way. We'll see.
I'm a fan of the Intersect more than I am of the romance between Chuck and Sarah. Is that so wrong?
Note for Melwicker and others who think like :
ReplyDeleteI believe both How I Met Your Mother and House, which face Chuck at 8PM have more sex in them than Chuck has since Chuck and Sarah got together.
They also have more Male 18-34 viewers.
Is that why House is getting higher ratings than Chuck is?
ReplyDeleteOr is it because House has the crazy House/Cuddy shippers? I think that House getting together with Cuddy then being dumped by Cuddy would possibly lower the ratings for that show, since it definitely angered the shippers for that show.
Also, I am NOT a House/Cuddy shipper. I just read the Huddy rants online, and I think that the House/Cuddy shippers are crazy.

No ... but you are over analyzing a show that is meant to be silly and lighthearted and simple entertainment. If you go through the show with a fine tooth-comb you will find a million plot holes but ... the show isn't meant to be seen in that light. Chuck isn't Lost, you 're supposed to analyze everything to try and figure out what's going, 99.99% what you see on your screen is all that there is.
Enforcer, just remember you said that... and then come see me in 2 months. ;)
ReplyDeleteAs much as I loved lost and to an extent fringe even they whinged a lot of their mythology. I mean they just never answered all the questions because they were not tight enough with the mythology.
ReplyDeleteJames, there is always a section of a fandom that thinks IF THE WRITERS DIDN'T ANSWER IT THEN THEY WERE WINGING IT!
ReplyDeleteIt is better to not answer most things. Once you start answering them, you demystify them. And when they do explain something, the same fans inevitably say "THAT ISN'T HOW IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN!"
James as sawyer would say they pulled off one heck of a long con! That is the point of serialised tv, to be able to string the audience long enough until they tell the story they want to tell. If you get the answers you were looking for then that is gravy, but otherwise ........
ReplyDeleteI liked the jealousy aspect of Sarah and Chuck over Casey doing his own thing. A lot of people start taking Chuck to seriously in regards to actual CIA protocol - but this is not a serious show like that. For something more serious go watch White Collar, they at least get some aspects of the National Clandestine Service right. I love the laid back attitude of Chuck. It's a show to make you laugh. I'll be honest, Chuck is one of my favorite shows and I'll only watch it in HD on DISH Network. As a DISH customer/employee I can tell you that DISH has more HD channels than any other provider, and the picture quality/price can't be beat. Definitely worth checking out. Anyway, I'm looking forward to watching tonight's episode. Can't wait :)
ReplyDeleteIf I get one more DISH commercial mixed in with the postings, I will not only drop that poster in the SPAM folder but also demand payment.
