CHUCK returns in September 2010 for a 4th Season 8/7c

MONDAY
8pm: CHUCK
9pm: THE EVENT (new show)
10pm: CHASE (new show)

So... nothing changes other than CHUCK getting to return earlier than last year.  We are still at the same time, on the same day... with no lead-in.  Not the best case scenario but at least we get 13 more episodes!  Hopefully the writers give us 13 self-contained episodes with some kind of satisfying end to the story, should it not continue on past that point.

Some people have even told me they would prefer it if the show runners were to tell NBC/WB that they want to end the show after 13.  That way they get to go out on their terms and create the exact story they want to tell.

What do you think?

  1. I was thinking it might have been better to have Monday nights as:
    8-9: The event
    9-10: L&O: SVU
    10-11: L%O: LA

    And then Wednesdays:
    8-9: Undercovers
    9-10: Chuck
    10-11: Chase.

  2. Don't start the season with low expectations. Rather than asking to "create the exact story" with 13 episodes, Josh and Chris should aim for a cliff-hanger after 13 and wait for the back-six or back-nine that we really want!

  3. Bteacher99, I have been spending time in really real land for a few weeks and around here shows don't tend to IMPROVE in ratings season to season. That means that there is very little chance CHUCK will improve its ratings enough to get more.

Now, I will surely hold out for hope and try to get more people into it, but we have already seen what a terrible time ANY show on NBC has getting ratings at 8pm on Mondays. I am willing to take leap and project that nothing will change next season. So, with that in mind, create a self-contained 13 that have a satisfying conclusion but have something in mind for a back 9 in case that happens. Why would you ever want a cliff-hanger ending to 13 with the very good chance that the show won't return?

A lot of people complaining about promotion for chuck this season. Are they forgetting the almost
annoying amount of promos nbc gave chuck this season before it premiered? Yes it was the only thing premiering in january this year but still.

    ReplyDelete
  5. NBC promoted this show big time before it came back. Did it short change it at the end? Yes. But it is a show in its 3rd season barely doing a 2.1. NBC has done CHUCK and its fans a pretty big favor by renewing it. It canceled shows it actually makes more money off and kept CHUCK. So, clearly, they have more than a little interest in seeing the show succeed. But marketing is budgeted and they used up much of the CHUCK budget promoting its return.

  6. I'm oddly comfortable with the Monday 8:00 PM slot. "If we can make it there, we can make it anywhere." For a show that's always been on the bubble, Chuck has little left to prove.

In a rational world, a 5th season should be easier to get, if only because having nearly 90 episodes makes syndication (and hence, $s) easier. But the world isn't quite that simple any more.

In a rational world, a quality show with a loyal audience of any size would be able to find a slot somewhere on a medium that features over 100 channels operating around the clock. But the economics seems to prefer QVC clones, voyeuristic dating extravaganzas and semi-miscreants somewhere east of Newark to be featured on the air. Go figure.

It's almost as if low quality, low budget and low ratings are the goal.

I'm not such a cynic, though. Chuck IS high quality television, the budget is 'flexible', and the audience is engaged. Lucky for us, that last seems to count for something in today's market. Lucky for us the show seems to have a cast and crew (AND RUNNERS!) that seem to recognize this and who act accordingly. As a creative enterprise, Chuck seems tremendously responsive to its audience. Makes me glad.

I'd love to have the writers and creative talent plot out what they'd like to accomplish before moving on, and then getting the chance to do exactly that without either network or fan interference. My fantasy continues with them saying "Oh, wait. We have more story to tell. Let's make a movie."

  7. Joe, NBC does not own CHUCK. Why would it care about renewing it for a 5th season due to syndication? NBC makes almost no money on CHUCK going to syndication.

So, let us live in the real world. We are LUCKY to get a 4th season. I hope they decide to toss everything into these next 13. Worry about the 9, or anything after the 13, when that happens. Aim for the stars now, not later, if you have no guarantees.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I'm still waiting for a production company like College Hill to realize they can bypass the network and sell directly to consumers and advertisers. They should try to contact Felicia Day for help, as she has successfully monetized online content.

    ReplyDelete
  9. They really should write these 13 as the last season. Just go crazy with it, bring back fan favorite guest stars and go all out. I'd rather the show get a real ending than for it to end on a cliffhanger we might not see resolved.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Are you seriously trying to apply the Felicia Day paradigm to a show like CHUCK? What is the budget difference? $2 million per episode? Who is going to make up that difference? Production companies are not going to bank on the good will of the public to make up their cost. Come on, now.

  11. Unless Sarah's character becomes a raging nudist by the start of next season (from my lips to God's ears), I don't see where NBC is giving "Chuck" any chance for growth by keeping the status quo. They instead are quite obviously setting Chuck up to be the fall guy (as the lead-in) for a potentially underperforming Monday night lineup.
That being said, the continuing Chuck precipice is not all NBC's fault. The budget cuts have definitely affected the consistency and the Plot B's of many episodes. The decision made by whoever to keep Zach and Yvonne from being onscreen together for way to much of the first 12 episodes, while gutsy, seemed to kill off a noticeable amount of fan FRENZY about the series.
I wish I could say that 13 more episodes would completely sate my appetite for Chuck but that would be lying. Having been fortunate enough to see this brilliant cast, altogether, and at the top of their games, I will always wonder! What if Chuck had been a NBC production? What if Chuck was on Wednesday's or Sunday's or...? What if Chuck and Sarah had never had new PLI's in Season 3?
As Sarah Walker once said, "As soon as I'm gone, you will forget all about me." I do not know what the future of "Chuck" holds but I can reassure Ms. Strahovski, that I seriously doubt that!

  12. Boy allready starting off with negative comments as Magnus said we are lucky to get a 4th season as for the back 9 remember Heros didn't get a back 9 last year and now it's gone so enjoy it while you can

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'm absolutely in agreement with Magnus on this one.

Tell a self-contained 13 episode arc that leaves the show with a satisfying ending in case the "back 9" never come.

This is a show that has gotten two reprieves from "bubble" status. The showrunners should not press their luck. I'm tired of having series end on a cliffhanger because the showrunners had too much hubris.

If a miracle happens and they get the extension, they are talented enough to come up with a new arc.

I also don't mind the time period/day. Moving carries risk as well. Being selfish, I like my week starting off with Chuck.

  14. I'm not surprised that Chuck stayed @ 8 on Mondays . Chuck's proven that with all the competition that is on at that time , it will pull a 1.9 18/49 - 2.5 18/49 . Why take the chance putting a new show there that might pull significantly less ( Trauma ) .

Magnus , do u think there will be any kind of a time jump between the end of S3 & S4 ? I just worry that if there is no jump in time that if some one of importance dies in the finale , that S4 will start out with Chuck being all depressed and such . Then to begin S4 on a downer may not be the best idea to attract new fans to the series :(

Will u be covering all the news ( Renewal , Ali, Matt , Phil leaving ) in the next podcast as well ?

I would use Magnus' line of Anonymous .......... but Heroes got 19 eps last year , not 13 .

  16. Jules, I think HEROES got 18.

There has always been a time jump so I expect one again.

  17. Oh and yes... we will be talking about everything on the next podcast, provided that I am feeling better than I am today and can talk. :)

  18. Hi Magnus,

I am not worried too much about what happends next year, I really do think that people should take Zach's view that whatever happens, happens. I think we should just enjoy the ride, I am positive though that although a lot of the writers have left, the new pair of lefranc and judkins will make season 4 awesome, just look at tic tac and honeymooners, they were awesome. I feel that although ratings do not improve year to year generally, there are exceptions for example cbs ncis, that year on year has gone up in ratings in a major way. Now with the new programs that NBC are putting out there if they are good then that might boost nbc as a whole and bring new fans in and if lefranc and judkins can write a few episodes that nail it then who knows we may get an improved series and ratings and it might go on. I still think that the cast are so good that they can survive, I know I am being optimisitc but I am a dreamer.

  20. I think the writers should plan on two arcs, both parallel to one another - one being 13 episodes and then the other being 22, but come up with a way to write episode 13 so it could flow into a back 9 or end and wrap things up neatly with no cliffhangers.

    -Jon

  21. I want an ending. I think it has had a good run. Now that three of the main writers are leaving, I think a good wrap up would be best.

  22. Look, let's just be happy that we got and additional 13. Last year Leno worked against the show and it almost got cancelled, this year it looks like the Leno effect helped by creating more spaces for shows and Chuck snuck in. From public comments it appears that NBC is interested in the young male demo that Chuck attracts (or more precisely that Yvonne attracts).

Plan a 13 episode season and if they get the back nine have a season 4.5. That and hope that DWTS, House and How I Met Your Mother all get really old all of a sudden.

  23. Hi Magnus,

Chuck reminds me of my school sports teams that I played in we were always underdogs but had a lot of fights and guts and we never knew when we were beat, we were the comback kings and mostly always won our games at the death through an inspiring moment or just collective team spirit. My thoughts are that chuck is the same, twice they have nearly been cancelled and come back from the brink, this cast and crew are awesome and I will never ask the show to write an ending or ask to finish because I see the cast as a great team and one that can fight and fight and keep on going, we'll see don't count them out yet or write them off they may suprise us in season 4 and nail it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Join the real world, Amrit. CHUCK is not a sports team and there won't be any magical comebacks. We either get people to watch or the ratings will continue to drop. Simple. We got lucky and got to see more of the show we love. Don't count on being lucky for a third time.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Magnus,

Here is my thought. I'm not at all happy that they kept it at it current time. Since I'm not an exec at NBC I'm not even going to try to guess or speculate. I'm going to enjoy the show as much as possible for as long as possible.

If, and I mean if, NBC decides that season 4 is going to be it then I will be sad. Obviously, this is not the best case scenario we would like. My thing is, I would like NBC to tell us ahead of time. I don't want them to pull an L&O or Heroes on us and just leave us hanging.

I've been mad with networks before when they have done that. I want closure to the story and not wonder how the hell the writers would have ended it. At this point, NBC doesn't owe Chuck fans anything, but it would be a good send off.

I'm happy that other networks have let their shows (24, Ugly Betty and Lost) have a proper ending and it would be nice for Chuck to have the same thing.

  26. Nat, fans always think their show is most important and deserves... whatever it is they think the show deserves. But more popular shows than CHUCK get treated much worse and people move on. Eventually, CHUCK will get canceled and I think our "luck" has run out with this latest pickup. So, we either see a boost in the ratings (or, steady and everything else tanks), or we will see the last of the show.

So, the only people with the power to secure "closure" are the show runners. You can't expect NBC to care about a show they don't own more than they already have. That is why I said that I hope the CHUCK writers decide to create a self-contained 13 episode arc with closure.

Granted, while episode 13 of this season was nice, the best "closure" episode was 14.

  27. I love this show and consider myself lucky to get another season (abbreviated or extended.. whatever). The cast has done their job and entertained me, which is all I can ask for. If this is the end so be it. I will look forward to following the careers of this talented group of people. I am sure they will continue to entertain people for many years to come.

  28. I will remain positive and believe the fanbase will improve this fall. Unfortunately Chuck was against a powerhouse in DWtS. With two talented dancers on DWtS,and and angst between Chuck and Sarah it is easy to see where the fans went. If the Showrunners make this a Romantic action comedy with flashes of Drama and leave the angst out I think the ratings will increase, and the 13 series arc will be followed by a 9 series arc. But I have read rumors that they are breaking Chuck and Sarah up creating more angst then they should plan on a series final at the end of the 13.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Bree, funny how they put Chuck and Sarah together and the ratings remained steadily low. So, obviously, putting them together was the wrong thing. They need to break them up to get fans back. ;)

Yes, I can do the same thing and project wildly based on whim. I don't think it makes much of a difference one way or the other what they do. The ratings dropped this year pretty much in the same way they did last year, except we lost 0.2 more (most shows lose even more than that per season). We might actually see something different in September since its ratings were better in the fall during the first two seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Al
I think at this point the fanbase is what it is and we shoudn't be expecting any big promo pushes this season since they have so many new shows that are gonna get a lot of that.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yep... name me a bubble show that picked up in season 4. Anyone? Anyone? Seriously, if there is one, let me know about it.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Funny you say that Magnus because I think the NBC show Ed was a lot like Chuck. It had the good ensemble cast, the same WTWT between the two lead characters of Ed Stevens and Carol Vessey, and great music as well. And it was constantly a bubble show getting moved around to different timeslots. It had a 4 season run that ultimately ended up with Ed choosing Carol over his PLI Frankie in Season 3, and then the last 17 episode season started with them moving in together, then an engagement midseason and ended with a wedding of Ed and Carol in a nice sendoff.

Chuck seems to be taking a similar track...

    -Jon

  33. The only way I see a pick up in audience for the fall is if we get good ol' WTF mind blowing ending to this season , and the S4 premiere starts out with a bang and continues to bring it .

In my opinion S3 kinda suffered a little 'cause I think the average viewer assumed that Chuck and Sarah were going to start out being a couple right away . Then when the premiere aired I think it disappointed some of the viewers and with " the Shaw incident " people got fed up to a degree . Well at least the crazy shippers did.

Hopefully some of the 1.5 million viewers we lost will get caught up in the summer and return in the fall.

    Jules

    ReplyDelete
  34. Jules, I don't think story had much to do with it. It just fell like every other show (losing about 20% of its peak demo). The problem for CHUCK is that it can't really afford to lose that much. Well, except this season since there were more shows that fell harder than it did on NBC. :)

What you can count on is next season's premier being around a 2.9 again. And then it will slowly drop until we get to somewhere around 2.0. The show could benefit from other shows doing worse... but it could also benefit from NBC getting healthier overall. IF that happens, then we might see something unheard of happening.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Magnus ,

It's going to be nice these next 2 Mondays to watch the eps listen to your podcasts and not have to worry about the ratings the next day affecting renewal:) .

I'd be fine if this was the last season if we get all 22 episodes . First 13 could have a few mini arcs and the holiday themed episodes then the back 9 could start wrapping things up .

Since we got the news about Ali leaving , I watched vs the cougars again and noticed a line from Chuck . Casey is interviewing Mark Ratner in Castle , and Ratner tells Casey that he will only talk to Special agent Carmichael 'cause he saved his life , Casey looks to Chuck and Chuck replys " It's funny , you should really see me scale buildings with suction cups " and makes the suction noise with the hand gestures . I mention that because in one of the promos for Mondays ep you can see Chuck ( and perhaps Sarah) scaling up a building using suction cups lol. I love all the callbacks that Rafe and Lauren use in their writing . you can tell they're fans as well.

  36. Magnus,
Completely agree with your take on S4 - let's treat it as a bonus and hope that the showrunners don't leave us hanging. If we get a back 9, it's just the icing on the cake.
But here's my question - speaking as someone who knows nothing about the workings of American TV schedules - what would have to happen to get a back 9? Do NBC have a full slate of January programs, and a show only gets a back 9 if something else falls over? Or do they leave some slots open for back 9's for Fall shows, depending on ratings? How does it actually work?

    ReplyDelete
  37. I find it funny that people actually thought the ratings would pickup after Chuck and Sarah got together. I've enjoyed their relationship, thus far. I'm hoping it will stay constant, but maybe now that Sarah has confessed her feelings it will move to the back and give more time to the actual plot of the show. Generally, my favorite episodes have been ones that have had an equal mix of romance, plot (missions), and funny. Lately, I feel it has been more focused on the romance. It's expected, but getting kinda overdone at this point.

I'm going to miss Matt and Ali. They did a great job for the first three seasons of this show, but it's time to move on. Injecting some new vision into the show may freshen it up a bit and perhaps give both the Chuck/Sarah relationship and general plot a kick in the pants. Season 4 should be good, I hope.

    Cheers,
    Jet

  38. Based on the release of next falls schedule, is anyone else surprised that Chuck won't be paired with Undercovers? I believe I saw Undercovers set to air on Wednesday.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oh for pete's sake, I really hope they don't break them up! This is starting to sound like Friends (if it really happens). Well if it does, get ready for the crazy shippers to start again and threaten to leave the show once again.

    Nat

    ReplyDelete
  40. Nat, some random poster says Chuck and Sarah are going to break up and you believe it? Sigh.

Crash, I am not shocked but I am slightly surprised that they consider CHASE a better match-up with CHUCK and THE EVENT when it should probably have been moved to Wednesdays with the two L&O's. If you are building theme nights, why break the formula like that?

I will tell you why. They know Mondays at 8PM gets killed and the only show that doesn't totally die there is CHUCK (for now). For NBC, I think Mondays is more of a Friday slot than... Friday. It is where shows go to get canceled. Well, shows not named CHUCK... so far.

Ozzie, I have no idea right now what it would take to get the back 9. Until we see what the landscape is like for NBC in the fall, ratings wise, there is no way to predict. I was told when season 3 started that NBC wanted a 2.6 out of CHUCK. They got a 2.4 Live+7. But because everything else on Monday got killed and because Thursdays at 8pm got killed, CHUCK ended up looking better. So, essentially, we would need CHUCK to maintain and every other show to tank. Orrrrr... CHUCK to actually pick up in ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Its funny the Monday night line-up. We have our favorite Spies from the CIA & NSA and the
Buy-More With a trained assisin and a beautiful Blonde that Kicks Ass. Then "The Event" focusing on CIA spy activity as controlled by the president then to "The Chase" a beautiful blonde who grew up without a Mother that Kicks Ass. Funny how they took one show and paralleled it with two others and are showing them the same night? Scapegoat anyone?

    ReplyDelete
  42. If you ventured a guess, what were the reasons the show got renewed? Do you think WB pressured the network for another season so they could hit 50 episodes and WB would see some syndication $, NBC would earn a favor from WB by doing so?

    ReplyDelete
  43. In my mind this show is like buffy the vampire slayer in the sense that they had to fight for the show for the first 4 seasons and then where able to end up with 7 seasons. so in my mind they should do what they did in the 2nd season and like I think they are going to do for this season. leave it as whating to know what happens next for the season. also you can see it as maybe they are going to be like they do for dexter, entourage and burn notice in the sense that they are only going to have about 13 episodes per season which could be a good thing because then maybe chuck will have a longer run then if they did about 22 episodes per season.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Magnus, LOL, I didn't say I believed them. Just stating that I hope it doesn't happen. You never know with the writers. LOL I have complete faith in them but I know how they like to throw curve balls too. :-)

    Nat

    ReplyDelete
  45. I just think it funny how people immediately latch onto the negative. Not just for CHUCK but for everything. It is sad, actually. People just can't enjoy being happy. They are always ready to be disappointed.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Hey Magnus...

First off, hope you are feeling better :)

Secondly, I'm beyond thrilled to hear Chuck is back and I'm actually okay with them leaving it on Monday's. I think it will end up with some huge promo being paired with two brand new shows! I think the shows it's leading in to are fine, although, it would've been interesting to pair it with Undercovers too! Oh well...

Thirdly, I thought I read somewhere a couple weeks ago that Fedak and Schwartz had a meeting with the NBC execs to pitch what they had in mind for Season 4. If that is indeed true, I would imagine they probably pitched a story that could easily be wrapped in 13 or extended to 22, depending on what happens. Or at least I hope that's what happened, with those two, you never know.

In conclusion, I agree, this is probably going to be the last season and we, the fans, are very lucky to have the pickup this year. I would like to see the story wrap up and that way if this is it, we have a nice ending to go out with. Of course, I'd love a season 5 pickup, but I'm not going to put the cart before the horse. I'm taking this news of a Season 4 as a reason to relax for a bit :)

Oh and RIP Ronnie James Dio! A sad day for metal indeed! Yeah, I know it's not Chuck related, but I do know you ;)

    ReplyDelete
  47. A huge expectation I have for next season... I want a girls vs. boys episode. Sarah and Chuck are disagreeing, Awesome and Ellie are not seeing eye to eye and the girls take each others sides so the boys must unite as well... Let the comedy ensue with Morgan and Casey caught in the crossfire.

I also want to see Roan and Jack Burton drinking Gin together.

In all seriousness though I hope they let Zac direct at least 2 episodes and possibly produce 1 or 2 as well. I think he earned his stripes in Vs the Beard and they probably trust him a lot more now. I think Zac has a long career(infront and behind the camera) to look forward too...

Maybe they will let Yvonne do her fashion episode too. Yvonne, if you are reading this, get you laptop out and start brainstorming a rough story for Rafe and Lauren to help you perfect ;)

    HJ

    ReplyDelete
  48. Christine, right on... always loved Dio's voice.

As for the pitch... they do that every season. It is usually a pitch for the first 13 (or so it was last season).

HJ, I have a good feeling about season 4. I think bringing in new blood can breath in new life, especially when the writers are fans of the show.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I was looking at FOX's upcoming schedule and they are putting " good guys " on in the summer . Would NBC ever consider doing that to Chuck ? For instance pick up the back 9 but air them in Summer '11 if the rest of their pilots take off ?

    ReplyDelete
  50. As long as the writers continue to have good ideas for the show, I say let 'em go on. There can't be an Intersect 3.0, 4.0, etc. That would suck. They either have to break off the Intersect thing, or find something else to toy with. Let's see where they take us Season 4, then decide.

    ReplyDelete
  51. No matter what happens, we'll always have "Honeymooners."

I doubt any future closure episode will beat it on those terms. I'll be happy with whatever they give us.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Honeymooners was a perfect ending... but I also loved the ending to Living Dead... and especially Sarah giving Chuck her "spy will." Those kind of little moments are when I really feel in tune with the show. As Ronald D. Moore once said... "It is the characters, stupid." That is how you create a satisfying end to something. End it with your characters getting a moment of quiet that means as much to them as it does to the audience.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hey magnus you were right about not wanting to see what happens. Is it possible for NBC to not do a promo were they give away big plot points? I saw it on nbc.com and was like really?

    ReplyDelete
  54. I feel that promo monkeys tend to be the biggest idiots on the planet. I don't know that as a fact but it seems like they grab people who don't understand how to promote without spoiling and put them into the editing room.

If I live to see next week, I might make my own promo just to show how you could make it exciting without ruining surprises.

    ReplyDelete
  55. They could have easily left out the part at the eand at least.Come on!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Hi Magnus,

I have read some people saying that because Sarah gave chuck her will she will die in the finale, I mean come on ! Kill yvonnes character, Kill chuck the series ! Also the way I see it, it is just a nice touching moment for them both to show what they mean to each other. Honeymooners they decided to be spies, Role Models they decided to be together at the end of their spy lives and move in together, Tooth Sarah and Chuck actually both say I love you and are extremely happy about it and finally the living dead they want each other to know everything about each other, sweet and tender. I really like the way they have progressed these two and although it is at a pace Zach and Yvonne have done a great job making it look genuine.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Hi Magnus, I am completely speculating 100% here, but do you feel that the show writers have set up the change in show that means it might move away from the buy more. I mean they made jeffster actually good so that they can leave on a world tour as a band, the made morgan part of the team which if he does something awesome in the season finale could be full time and now they might bring ellie and awesome both into the spy world. I mean awesome is now back to I want the action and am not afraid any more and well Ellie is being played based on living dead, so hence with all of these parts is it fair to say that they can do away with the buy more andjust be a 100% spy show with no cover jobs and just missions?

    ReplyDelete
  58. hope you feel better - did something specific happen (like the monday time slot?, or the appearance that undercovers is a chuck ripoff?? or something about the finale???) to move you to this position (I consider you a source to rally the rest of us?) - I have taken from your post that I will enjoy the next 15 episodes as much as I can - 15 eps is still 20% of the show's overall life, so lots of things can happen between now and then.

    ReplyDelete
  59. chuckfan75, I don't know what will happen in season 4 (yet), other than what I know happens in the finale.

Amrit, you will know in six days. But this finale is going to make the last finale seem tame.

As for Sarah dying.... it is always interesting to see how people react to things that happen in the show. :)

  60. So if Sarah dies in the finale does she also get a get out of death free card, or are those only available to her PLIs? :)

  61. Magnus,
Please don't even JOKE about the possibility of Sarah getting killed in the finale. I know as well as anyone that Yvonne is a huge percentage of the show's draw and that they'd be crazy to do it... and I don't underestimate their craziness. That being said, have to agree with you, we got amazingly lucky to get a 4th season (I personally think somebody flipped a coin and Heroes lost) but the decision's made and I think the whole mechanism should be geared toward doing 13 and ending it with closure for the fanbase. Hey, we may be small but we're mighty. Let's all just consider ourselves fortunate and enjoy the resolution of a great show. It's a heck of a lot more than some shows have gotten.

  62. Short of it is they will write what they want and we will work to support the show.

Personally I would like to see the initial 13 be a self contained storyline that include foreshadowing for a possible back 9.

  63. I have a sinking suspicion Ellie's going to die. Which would be...crazy sad. But also open up interesting forks in the road as far as storyline goes next season.

I hope they close out next season with an intended series finale. If we get picked up for more...we have one awkward episode, and more Chuck to enjoy after that! If we don't get picked up and they go for the cliffhanger? Thats it. No more, and who wants that?

  64. As long as they don't end the show like how they ended Prison Break, I will be happy.
