Once more unto the breach, dear friends!
And so here we all are. Just two episodes left and then the world of CHUCK crushes in on itself and disappears (forever?). So, here is my final spoiler blog (ever?):
- Sarah's dream wedding dress looks really pretty on her.
- Agent Walker is cold in ice.
- Chuck defends Sarah's honor.
- When abandoned and looking for a fight, you call the Russians.
- Chuck and Sarah revisit the will they won't they romance.
- At least one person de-intersects.
- Volkoff is very generous.
- Vivian 2 - Team B 0
- The Agency puts an end to Team Bartowski.
This is too easy:
ReplyDelete1. Chuck's ........ looks....
2. Agent Walker is hawt in pie.
Close?
Rand
3. Riley poisons Sarah's drink/glass.
ReplyDeleteDang I am TERRIBLE at these!! :-( That one above from noidhoidah looks totally plausible: 3. "Riley poisons Sarah's drink/glass." I guess they are going to physically harm her in some fashion, I kept thinking they would shoot her or something but I guess poison is entirely possible.
ReplyDeleteThat isn't it but I like the guess.
ReplyDeleteAgent Walker is Shot In Ass
ReplyDeleteTaking the show forrest gump style.
LOL!
ReplyDelete3. "Chuck designs Sarah's dress." ;-)
ReplyDelete@Alex - LMAO!
ReplyDeleteChuck repairs Sarah's pipes.
ReplyDelete3. "Chuck avenges Sarah's death." HA!! KIDDING!!
ReplyDeleteHAHA "Chuck repairs Sarah's pipes" these are cracking me up.
2 - Agent Walker is near to die. (????) -> Hope not...
ReplyDeleteAgent Walker is shot by CIA
ReplyDeleteNo matter how much I resist, it's hard not to play.

ReplyDeleteAgent Walker is torn in two.
ReplyDeleteChuck dresses Sarah's wound.
When abandoned and looking for a fight you call the ********

ReplyDeleteWe want more romance, action, danger about chuck bartowski
Chuck defends Sarah's honor.
ReplyDelete- James
Agent Walker is left to die.
ReplyDeleteChuck defends Sarah's honor.
Volkoff is very troubled.
Chuck and Sarah replace the will then can't find Volkoff.
2) Agent Walker is born to spy.
ReplyDelete7) Volkoff is more powerful.
i don't know, just giving out suggestions
"Agent Walker is torn in two," holy crap I hope you mean the figuratively and not literally ... These guesses are getting pretty jacked up hahaha.
ReplyDelete2. "Agent Walker is shot by her." (Vivian)? O.k. that's really reaching haha.
2. "Agent Walker is sick in bed."
2. "Agent Walker is good in bed."
2. "Agent Walker is high on LSD."
3. "Chuck defends Sarah's honor."
3. "Chuck ingests Sarah's drugs."
Man I am not doing well at this.
This maybe a stupid question but by what the title says does this mean that Chuck is cancelled or is that just a title to get peoples attention? Please let me know either way Magnus or Razorback whatever you liked to be called.
ReplyDeleteHeh looks like my last comment was a bit too late as I posted it after you had already posted one of the answers. At least one of my guesses was right (even though it was late) hehee.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, god I am really drawing blanks here for the rest of these. :-(
Agent Walker is glad to wed.
Agent Walker is back on top.
Agent Walker is hard to hit. (like kill, doesn't quite work)
Volkoff is very saddened.
Volkoff is very shameful.
Volkoff is very confused.
Arrgh.

Agent Walker is sick in bed
ReplyDeleteAgent Walker is next to die
ReplyDeleteMwahhhh haaa haaa.
If anyone guesses the 1st one i'm buying him a biig subway sandwisch ! :)
ReplyDeleteThx 4 the spoilers Magnus.. i'm terrible with guessing so i'm not even gonna try :)
Agent Walker is first to die
ReplyDeleteI think you got that one right Peter :D
ReplyDeleteGoing off of what Diana said:
ReplyDeleteChuck and Sarah prefers the will they won't they wedding.
Agent Walker is made to lie.
ReplyDeleteagent walker is going to die??? oh noooooo
ReplyDelete1. Sarah's white wedding dress looks... ? how does it look ? =)) :X
ReplyDeleteAgent Walker is shot in eye
ReplyDeleteAgent Walker is said to lie
ReplyDeleteAdding to AdriaN'S comment:
ReplyDeleteSarah's white wedding dress looks really special on her.
Agent Walker is pale in hue.
ReplyDeleteAgent Walker is near to die
ReplyDeleteVolkoff is less powerful
nena
I wrote the wrong word. It should have been superb not special
ReplyDeleteSarah's white wedding dress looks really superb on her
Chuck and Sarah execute the plan that can't stop/save wedding.
ReplyDeleteAgent Walker is hard to see
ReplyDelete-OPD
Volkoff is left standing.
ReplyDeleteRevising John's thought-
ReplyDeleteSarah's white wedding dress looks really pretty on her.
Agent Walker is left to die.

ReplyDeleteAgent Walker is shot in toe
ReplyDeleteAgent Walker is dead on cue.
ReplyDeleteAn agent *** morgan\vivian **-**********
ReplyDeletePeople have guessed "die" a bunch of times for the last word in the "Agent Walker" one but Magnus hasn't revealed the word to be "die", only "**e" ... so maybe that means it can't be "die"?
ReplyDeleteAgent Walker is shot by Joe (no characters have three letter names hahaha)
Agent Walker is lead to lie
Agent Walker is with an ape
Agent Walker is with an ace
Agent Walker is left in awe
Agent Walker is left in pee
:-P
These are the last guesses I can possibly muster out of this one and they are all terrible!!
ReplyDeleteAgent Walker is hard to sue
Agent Walker is hard to use
Agent Walker is hard to see
Agent Walker is shot on cue
Agent Walker is nice to see.
ReplyDeleteAgent walker is down to one.
ReplyDeleteVolkoff is Shaw(s) Roommate
ReplyDeletedamn, almost.
Agent Walker is able to pee.
ReplyDeleteAgent Walker is left to die.
ReplyDeleteAgent Walker is cold as ice.
ReplyDeleteClose but not 'as'? So "Sarah is cold on ice"? Or "in ice"? Scary!
ReplyDeletePerhaps... I think I am going to leave it unrevealed. :)
ReplyDeleteAgent Walker is cold to ice. Maybe she acts cold to some ice cubes?
ReplyDeleteI hope Volkoff is not Chuck's father.
I think the second to last spoiler starts with "An agent" or "As Agent".
The hyphenated word...
ReplyDeletede-intersects\re-intersects?
"An Agent has......"
ReplyDelete"An Agent has Morgan something" "An Agent has Vivian de-something"
ReplyDeletelove these teasers:
ReplyDeletean agent for vivian re-intersects
sarah's white wedding dress looks simply divine on her
An agent has hidden...
ReplyDeleteAn Agent has Vivian de-intersected
ReplyDelete" " " " Morgan " " "
I hope Chuck doesn't get amnesia.
ReplyDeleteWhen has Vivian ever been Intersected? LOL.
ReplyDeleteNo idea really on any of these, but I just love the picture you chose here.
ReplyDeleteAnd last Chuck ever = sadface.
Agent Walker is cold on ice
ReplyDeleteShe has a fever and they have to get her temperature down. Normally they do that with an ice bath
"Agent Walker is cold ** ice" that is not even close to what I was expecting, but it sounds pretty cool (no pun intended). ;-) I can't imagine the "**" being anything other than "as" though haha:
ReplyDeleteAgent Walker is cold as ice
Agent Walker is cold on ice (she gets cold when she ice skates)
Agent Walker is cold in ice (she gets frozen in a block of ice like Han Solo in carbonite)
Agent Walker is cold to ice (as a previous commenter said above, she is rude to ice cubes)
Agent Walker is cold by ice (she is cold when she sits next to ice).
Stupid of me - For a high fever they would put her "in" an ice bath and cover her with ice cubes.
ReplyDeleteAgent Walker is cold in ice
Sarah's white wedding dress looks really pretty on her.
ReplyDeleteCome on people why aren't there more guesses on here!! I keep waiting for more comments but there barely are any. I guess it's too hard cause I can't get nothin' either. :-(
ReplyDeleteChuck and Sarah perfect the vows they can't read anymore.
Chuck and Sarah attempt the vows they can't read anymore.

Just for the fun (I cannot find a serious one for this line - yet!):
ReplyDeleteChuck and Sarah neglect the fans that don't care anymore.
Chuck and Sarah predict the plot that won't wait anymore.
Agent Walker is cold as ice.
ReplyDeleteit has something to do with whatever will happen to her (poisoned/shot..etc)?
More serious ones although I expect too vague:

Just read a interview with Robert Duncan McNeill, one of the producers of #Chuck and it seems like bad news from my point of view quotes like : "Chuck is always on the bubble. It’s funny this year, it feels different and I’m not sure why. In the past years there’s always been a sense that we haven’t quite done it all yet." AND : "Not that a fifth season wouldn’t be incredibly exciting, and we could do a lot of fun things. But, I don’t know, this year there’s a different sense. I can’t explain it. It’s a resignation to “whatever will be will be”. In the past we’ve always felt like, Come on, give us one more! We’ve got some really cool things that we want to do that we haven’t done! This year I think there’s a real sense of, we’ve done a lot of cool things. We’ve done a lot of cool things that I think people didn’t imagine that show could be or could do, with the way the characters have grown and with the mythology."
ReplyDeleteIn other words its seems like they are preparing to wrap things up :( and don't necesary feel like Season5 is a must ;)
It kinda makes me sick that the producers feel that way but what can you do .. there's no business like showbusiness :P
SRY for posting this here MAGNUS but it's the latest thread so i guess it's kinda apropiate for last minute news :P
Why would it make you sick? This show is going to end eventually. Might as well face it now.
ReplyDeleteI love McNeill's honesty.
ReplyDeleteEverytime I watch a Season 1 or 2 episode and flip forward to this season, I realize how much of what they were heading toward has already happened. Chuck's the hero he was meant to be. The nerd got the girl.
I appreciate what Robert said in the same way I gravitate towards this site over other Chuck sites. I'd much rather people be straight with me than be saying just what the publicists are telling them to.
Chuck and Sarah restart the will they won't they romance
ReplyDeleteKOs
Yep. Zac is similarly honest about these things. Even though I am someone who deals in marketing/PR related efforts at times (sometimes get paid for it), in my personal life I have no interest in spinning the truth.
ReplyDeleteStill, I haven't heard that the show is going to be cancelled (yet), or I would happily tell you all that.
Chuck and Sarah revisit the will they won't they romance.
ReplyDeleteThat made me sick cause it kinda confirmed all the negative vibe that was going on lately about this being the series finale .. anyhow every good thing has to end i guess that goes for favorite tv show also :( (i just wished the end wasn't so close if you know what i mean.. i'm not in the category of people who thinks the show`s runed his course and need to get out while ahead)
ReplyDeletep.s. Your blog is very a very good and reliable source of information i hope you'l be kind enough to keep us posted with news regarding the renewall as soon as possible :P
It's not long now. NBC's Fall schedule may be leaked next Friday or over that weekend.
ReplyDeleteI know you believe it may still be up in the air at that time, but some answers will be available.

"Chuck and Sarah re****t the will they won't they romance."
ReplyDeleteCould be "revisit". Maybe they decide to not have sex until after the wedding ceremony.
Another comment. It looks like Ausiello has exhausted his "fatalities" list on the May Sweeps Scorecard. But, his "possible fatalities" list is still wide open with 8 slots.
ReplyDeleteThere still isn't a single "Chuck" confirmation on his list.

Well, it will be interesting to see how people react.
when will we find out about chuck's fate and i don't mean the official announcement?
ReplyDeletenena
At night the Vivian de-intersects. (I don't see how, but...)
ReplyDeleteVolkoff is half truthful
Vivian V - **** * *
Chuck and Sarah revisit/recount the will they won't they romance. Either one works and I think it goes to an earlier comment i read by you Magnus where you hinted at a possible retrospective sequence showing their journey. That is what I think you are teasing here and not any angst or anything else. Just something that shows how far they have come in 4 years. Personally I would love that and really hope we see it.
ReplyDeleteVariety is reporting that NBC is looking at 4-5 dramas and that number could bode well for Chuck's chances. If it were 6-8 I'd be more concerned. Smash, Prime Suspects both seem like locks with some other contenders like The Playboy Club. Interesting that Wonder woman is really not being discussed much lately it seems.
Well, in an attempt to look at the bright side, if Chuck is canceled, I will heed the advise of Dr. Seuss: "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."
ReplyDelete" Well, it will be interesting to see how people react."
ReplyDeleteIn a good way or bad way ?
In my mind Chuck is cancelled. It will be a pleasant surprise if it's renewed.
ReplyDeleteAs for revisiting will they won't they. I think I heard Yvonne say there will be a will their be a wedding or not. I cannot see that being a negative. For once I am going to take that as a positive.
It also seems you know Chuck's fate and you are just waiting on word from your source to put us out of our myisery.
That is probably a healthy way to look at it. If it is cancelled, then you weren't expecting any different. If it is renewed, you will be very happy.
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't know the show's fate for sure. I have received emails from people over the past few days that indicate one thing or another but I trust only one person completely in that regard. When he says there is a definite answer, then I will share it with you all (provided that he says I can).
I love that Dr. Seuss quote. Thanks, Peter.
ReplyDeleteFor people wondering about the upfronts. Here's what to expect (kinda/sorta).
NBC's meeting for the advertising agencies and advertisers begins at 11AM, Monday May 16th. But, they usually have a press conference for the media before that. The schedule often leaks over the weekend. Last year, the NY Times published the Fall schedule on Sunday.
Last year, they announced the official cancellation of Law & Order the Friday before. The Chuck announcement for renewal came the Thursday before the meeting.
That may not be how things will go down this year, but I do expect to see the NBC Fall schedule in the media next Sunday.
BTW, I have a stupid guess on the last teaser:
Morgan I-sect 2 0
And don't read anything into me naming this blog posting "The End" or any similar comments. I am just having a bit of fun with words. If I was told that the show was going to be cancelled, then I probably wouldn't mess with you. If I start saying something like "Hug the people you love and enjoy every second of the next two episodes" THEN YOU SHOULD WORRY.
ReplyDeleteVivian 2 Team B 0
ReplyDeleteThe Redacted is poisoned spoiler has leaked. Pretty big spoiler.
ReplyDeleteAnyone listening to CYT73 knew [redacted] was going to be out of commission for most of the episode. :)
ReplyDeleteWhy there isn't any spoiler about chuck himself?? or chuck bartowski won't take a place in final episode???
ReplyDeleteI didn't take Robert Duncan Mcneill's comments as if he was saying the show was getting cancelled or he was being negative.
ReplyDeleteHe was saying that if the show is cancelled it wouldn't feel as bad if it had been back in season 2 because by this point they've got to tell a lot more stories.
Casey's character has been given more story than he was in season 1 & 2 as has Morgan and also Sarah.
If the series had ended abprubtly after season 2 we would have missed out on all that character development and some great episodes.
You can tell more stories in 78 episodes rather than just 35.
It doesn't mean that in a hypothetical Season 5 there won't be more good stories to tell or exciting scenes.
I doubt Robert Duncan Mcneill knows if the show is going to be cancelled or not.
Some of you overreacted to his comments.
I think the only overreaction in here has been you telling us we are overreacting.
ReplyDeleteYour teasers are magnificent!!! Great job!!!
ReplyDeleteI had lost my lust for the final 2 but you bring back my excitement.

Have you received any info yet on the NBC pilots that were screened ? I want to know when I can celebrate CHUCK's renewal and Wonder Woman's non- pick up lol .
ReplyDeleteVolkoff is dead tomorrow.
ReplyDelete*** ****** **** ** *** ** **** *********
ReplyDeleteThe family will go far to save bartowski.
The agency will go far to kill bartowski
I haven't heard anything yet about pilots that were screened. All I have heard about is scripts or outlines for the pilots... and I didn't really press for info about much of it since I don't care.
ReplyDeletere the emails you have received, does this change your gut instinct on the future of the show (renewal)?
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing Sarah is going to get poisoned in the last episode of the season and they are going to do the will she live or die cliffhanger.
ReplyDeleteVolkoff turns out to actually be a double agent for the CIA pretending to be evil when he was really a good guy all along.
Chuck and Sarah's relationship is imaginary due to the intersect taking over Chuck Bartowski's mind.
In reality they never got together in Honeymooners.
P.S. Why does NBC always wait around every year to renew or cancel Chuck.
If Chuck is gonna get cancelled then why not just say it.
If it's renewed just say it NBC.
I would have thought based on ratings that Community was going to be a bubble show this year but NBC renewed it a couple of months ago.
Why not do the same for Chuck.
Also, are those email sources agreeing with each other or contradicting?
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDelete'why does nbc wait around'
Could it be because viewers that dont know will do everything to fight for their show, and be more likely to make sure to watch it live, vs shows that have the certainty of renewal its fans may relax a bit and the network will lose as a result.
I wouldn't call them "sources" as much as people with opinions who have heard something. I have only one real source when it comes to renewal chances and his word is the only one that matters.
ReplyDeleteAs for what these other people have said, the info has been mixed. One says cancelled for sure. The other says renewed. Which is why I listen and consider what they have to say, but don't put too much stock in it. When you have someone who will give you the facts, why would you need anyone else? ;)
Well, unless you find someone else with quicker facts.
Sarah Walker is cold as ice
ReplyDeleteThe networks wait to announce these things because they know it bothers you and they are conspiring against the fans because they hate anyone who helps make them money.
ReplyDeleteI am going to post another comment that you shouldn't approve that proves I know what I am talking about.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading the cliffhanger I agree with you, Magnus. Great episode but a cheap way out. I haven't the foggiest idea how others will take it.
The "why do the networks wait around" comment is hilarious in its ignorance of the industry.
ReplyDeleteThey have until the end of next week to make their decisions and, in some cases, it is dependent on very complex negotiations and the decisions they make about other shows.
They are not sitting on their hands right now. They are probably putting in 16 hour days.
Well... Ms. Universe, if that even is your name, you can be my source any time. ;)
ReplyDeleteAs for what you said in your other message... no doubt you at least know what is happening. The timing is interesting... but... anyway.
I don't mean to offend you but I hope you keep it out of the forums etc. Anyway, as I have said before, I think most people will be very happy with that cliffhanger. But those who are more discriminating with their taste will likely react like you and I have.
Not offended at all. I have no desire to share it with anyone. I told you because you already know it. ;p You may be right about the fan reaction.
ReplyDeletedkd- a better followup to it might be:
ReplyDelete'why do shows like community get renewed so early, while others have to wait much longer'
Now you're just teasing the rest of us Ms. Universe, haha.
ReplyDeleteWe have answered that question many times. COMMUNITY is currently the creative darling at NBC. Everyone and their uncle's mother is praising them for their ability to tell various types of stories in different ways. NBC loves prestige shows they think can win awards, or have big critical praise. That is why some shows are picked up early and others later.
ReplyDeleteCHUCK has very different... ummm... buzz?
At dkd
ReplyDeleteI know NBC has other factors when deciding whether shows are going to be renewed or not.
I think by now they know whether they are going to renew Chuck or cancel it and to me they just say so.
Do you have some magic crystal ball that tells you NBC has already decided? If not, then why are you so sure? Do you have industry experience? Are you an insider? What exactly makes you so sure they ALREADY know?
ReplyDeleteI have a magic crystal ball.
ReplyDeleteBANNED FOR LIFE!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh so I guess poison is the big "bad" thing from that preview for this Monday, ok (basing that on a few of the recent comments here). (Sorry Magnus if I'm connecting too many dots here spoiler-wise for this thread, let me know). I was just gonna say that sometimes it kind of annoys me that they tend to do the same thing over and over on this show in terms of when they want something bad to happen to any particular character, it's always the same/similar "bad" thing hahah. Like with Casey, they always shoot him in the leg or toe (they've done that three times), but then at least they finally managed to break that pattern by throwing him off a building this season LOL. Poor Casey.
ReplyDeleteWith Sarah, when anything semi-serious happens to her, isn't it always poison or drugs? Like in season 3 there was that kinda crappy episode (the Mask one I think?) where she got drugged or poisoned right? Then when Shaw tried to kill her in 3.13, he drugged her (then he was going to shoot her but of course that didn't happen). And now it looks like, poison again. Ho hum. They need to switch it up a bit on how they physically abuse their characters, LOL, make it interesting. Oh wait they did blow Sarah up next to a car once hahaha, but I recall thinking that one was not very suspenseful (i.e. it was obvious that she would be fine). But I guess it's not like they're ever gonna kill Sarah anyway.
And then I guess with Chuck the problems for him are always related to the intersect. He has it, he doesn't have it, it starts messing up his brain, etc. But at least that makes sense given the fact that the premise of the show is based on his intersect. :)
Maybe they need to invent brand new ways to physically abuse their characters haha, other than the typical things on t.v. shows like poison, car accident, gunshot, stabbing, etc. etc. etc. Next time it should involve something totally crazy ... like a ... shark tank or a ... very angry gorilla haha. They already had an angry tiger though, damn. ;-)
OH btw I am very honored to win the prize of the "best guess ever" with my frog-dissecting thing haha!! Clearly I was getting desperate and losing my marbles. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI have magic crystal balls...
ReplyDeleteAs a COMMUNITY fan , what did you think of last nights episode ?
ReplyDeleteFor my CHUCK question . Right now , this very second what is your gut telling you about the odds of renewal ?
@maryploppins i think youre getting at what they got at in one of the recent podcasts about character safety. Obviously you can't kill chuck, his name is on the show, and Sarah is probably the next hardest to kill... but we really havent had one of the main cast killed -or even in very serious jeopardy - yet, so there's not the sense of danger, no matter what they do (whether it be poison or shark tank), if the audience always deep down believes theres no way the writers will kill off a main character.
ReplyDelete@Alex - Yeah the lack of real danger is definitely a problem. I’m always torn because I never want them to kill off major characters on any show (unless I don’t like the character but then I wouldn’t care anyway haha), but at the same time, you really don’t feel that major sense of danger if no one ever dies. Actually the 4th season finale of Dexter managed to balance this out and pull it off brilliantly, in the sense that they killed a major character that a lot of people were getting annoyed with, BUT they did it in a way that a) made you feel REALLY sorry for the character and b) the character herself still had good qualities and she was an “innocent” who was not involved in Dexter’s secret life, so even if you disliked her character, you were still really moved or freaked out by the death. And from that point forward you’re never entirely sure where they’ll go.
ReplyDeleteAnd then ... another facet of my earlier comment is that even if I know a character won’t REALLY die, sometimes I love the melodrama that the “almost death” causes anyway hahahaa. So I’m kind of already anticipating that I won’t be satisfied with how that “melodrama” plays out on Monday and the finale hahahah; I’ll be sitting there going “Hmm I would have done that differently” or “I would have had that character do something else in that situation” or whatever, lol. But all I can do is wait till Monday to see how it really happens. :)
An agent has Morgan de-bearded.
ReplyDeleteJust kidding.
I know Law & Order's negotiations last year went to the "eleventh hour" according to sources who talked to the press.
ReplyDeleteI honestly think that if a decision were made we'd know about it by now.
One other thought as well - I think a big part of the problem here is that once you get 4 or 5 seasons into ANY show, you pretty much figure out the writers' "typical" ways of dealing with things and playing things out, and then you can easily predict how pretty much ANY situation will turn out. And that's when it becomes boring. For instance earlier I mentioned the way Dexter had dealt with the death of a main character in their S4 finale brilliantly - Well then season 5 wound up being one of the most boring and PREDICTABLE seasons of any show I've ever seen!! So the writers went RIGHT back to their same old predictable storylines and tricks, and yeah. Snoozefest.
ReplyDelete"Could it be because viewers that dont know will do everything to fight for their show, and be more likely to make sure to watch it live, vs shows that have the certainty of renewal its fans may relax a bit and the network will lose as a result."
ReplyDeleteI don't know if they think that way. I don't think they believe the fan's efforts have that much impact.
I do know that if they know a show is going to end, networks would rather advertise it quite heavily as a "series finale". It's considered something that will improve the ratings, not make them worse.
Witness Smallville this year. Last year, it was shows like Lost, Ugly Betty and 24.
That's why the fact that they honestly made last year's Law & Order cancellation decision at the last minute hurt them from promoting the final episodes as much as they could have for a show that had been on for so long.
I honestly believe that if NBC had canceled Chuck already, they would be advertising these episodes as the countdown to the series finale.
They definitely don't think fan efforts have much impact. Sure, there are people at the networks who think the fans and social network interactions and all that jazz are important, but the majority don't put much stock in it and for good reason. Those things are good for the person interacting and the person receiving that interaction (like fans talking to actors etc) but seems to have zero impact on ratings.
ReplyDeleteAnd dkd is totally right, if NBC was sure this was it, they would promote it as a series finale.
@maryploppins yeah, i still have to watch dexter s5. im about a season behind. ive heard the negative talk about s5 though.
ReplyDeletethat ending to s4 though... wow. i even knew what was coming (thanks to reading it a year earlier) and it still hit me. that whole season was great.
This isn't a forum!
ReplyDeleteid agree that if theyd decided to cancel, promoting a series finale would better for helping ratings for those.
ReplyDeleteWhat about if theyd decided to renew it though? Would it be better to not say anything and get people (and hopefully a few nielsen viewers) thinking they need to be watching live to save the show for season 5? Compare that to a show that is known renewal, that push to watch live doesnt work so well, maybe they watch it online or dvr instead. The twitter stuff? Yeah, thats meaningless. Maybe all the campaigns for live viewership are too in the bigger picture. *shrug*
But yeah, the fact that it isnt being promoted as a series finale is at least a sign that at least Chuck still has a chance.
I think we need some letters on the first and last spoilers... not much traction being made on either of them.
ReplyDeleteMagnus ,
ReplyDeleteYour words carry weight that would break a less interesting man's jaw.
Alex, the thing most fans... wait, most actors, producers, writers, editors, blahblahblah can't accept is that what fans do on the Internet, period, is virtually meaningless to the executives EXCEPT when they do something that makes them money. Like... watching the episodes online. They like that. Or tuning in live. They really, really like that. But if you can't quantify the impact the fans are having via their campaigning, then most executives still view it is meaningless.
ReplyDeleteLike I said, there are those who think it isn't totally meaningless, and executives still respond to certain types of fan actions (like handwriting a letter to the network, or if you know someone who can get your well worded email to the executives where they forward it to each other and are all super impressed by what you had to say), but there comes a point where a show has run out of good will from the network.
I am not going to say this again... if you start having discussions about another show, I am going to delete your comment no matter how interesting your second point about CHUCK is.
ReplyDelete*Because this is the CHUCK spoiler blog posting.
ReplyDeleteOk ok sorry!! I don't usually post this many comments here so I honestly didn't know (I'm usually just a reader and not so much a commenter). And my second point about Chuck really wasn't that interesting, I just threw it in because I didn't want to entirely stray from Chuck. :-P I hope you can someday forgive me for my terrible sin.
ReplyDeleteI don't forgive... just don't do it again and we will be fine. :)
ReplyDeleteDoes the final episode involve another major twist involving Volkoff?
ReplyDeleteBy major I mean something that changes the entire methology of the show.
I'm also guessing that Volkoff is killed in the finale.
I think nbc never promoted chuck enough. I agree that they already cancellled the chuck. Chuck's final episode in may 16th but there is no sneak peak or promo about it!! They are acting like regular episode to final episode!!
ReplyDeleteI wish I wanted to see more stunt moves as season 2. The action scenes was too weak in this season.
What you think is meaningless.
ReplyDeleteI hope NBC didn't cancel Chuck already.
ReplyDeleteWeird... I was so sure you were going to say how you hoped they had cancelled it already.
ReplyDelete@esozcanesk
ReplyDeleteWhy would they release a promo to the final episode of the season, when the next to last one hasnt even aired yet?
I hope NBC doesn't cancel Chuck.
ReplyDeleteI DO hope they move Chuck to a better time slot, though. And I hope that NBC thinks long and hard before the network puts any other show up against House and DWTS, if NBC either cancels Chuck or moves Chuck to a different time slot.
If Chuck suffers in the Monday time slot, then it's a sure bet that every other show that NBC might put in Chuck's place will suffer badly in that time slot as well.
So NBC should move some other show against HOUSE and DWTS to get killed? Why would they do that?
ReplyDeleteI don't think they should move ANY show up against House or DWTS. Instead, (after moving Chuck to a different night) they should fill that Monday time slot with the evening news or with reruns of already canceled shows like the Original Law and Order.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I would do if I was in charge of network programming. I would personally throw in the towel and admit that no new show could outcompete DWTS AND House in the ratings.
I would just put some reruns in that Monday time slot, since Nielsen does not take reruns into account. That would be playing it safe.
The show responds well to promotion . Though you can't blame NBC for not spending a ton of money promoting it , the less money they spend the more profitable it is for them . Especially giving the recent ratings decline . In hindsight sure it was idiotic of them to spend as much money as they did on promos for the EVENT , the CAPE ( six seasons and a movie lol) and more recently L&O L.A. . But that's the chance a network takes . Some you lose as in those cases and some turn out to be hits ( The VOICE ) . The less money NBC has to spend promoting Chuck and the more profitable the show is to them , albeit however small . Website traffic , merchandise , online streaming and a very loyal and vocal fan base generating buzz to the show is a plus .
ReplyDeleteIf NBC had a better show to fit with what it was airing on monday nights (more of a drama, less of a comedy) , it might make sense to switch chuck to another night where it might fit better and let that other show give it a shot.
ReplyDeleteBesides, house is definitely on the decline at this point (and i say this as watcher of house since the beginning) , that slot may grow less competitive before too long.
"That's what I would do if I was in charge of network programming. I would personally throw in the towel and admit that no new show could outcompete DWTS AND House in the ratings."
ReplyDeleteThat's why you won't ever be in charge of network programming.
As i just jumped in in the 4th season where chuck really hasnt gotten much promotion, has chuck really responded to promotion in the past? I could see where a show where you really have to go back to the beginning to understand it might not benefit that much from promotion.
ReplyDelete"Website traffic , merchandise , online streaming and a very loyal and vocal fan base generating buzz to the show is a plus"
ReplyDeleteLoyal? So where did that 0.7 go this season?
Loyalty, like time, is relative.
The ratings for CHUCK seem to improve when it gets proper promotion. But it has never improved enough to earn the amount of promotion fans think it should get. Granted, early this season NBC didn't promote it much and it was doing fairly well. But since 4.11, the show has taken a dive.
ReplyDeleteI mean I can see sneak peaks or promo about house every week. But nbc just release one promo about chuck every week. They sometimes release promo 2 but sometimes doesn't. You think that this is the right thing if nbc won't cancel the show.
ReplyDeleteBeside if you trust your show you should promote in different ways talk shows teasers etc, nbc doesn't
Chcuk fans always promote chuck!!
Thank you Dear Leader for having such mercy. Now back to Chuck: I hope the 0/10 cliffhanger does not involve Sarah and a bathtub filled with blood. KIDDING, JUST KIDDING, here are more real guesses for one of the spoilers:
ReplyDeleteVolkoff is very accurate
Volkoff is also allergic
Volkoff is also betrayed
Volkoff is very careless
Alright, peeps... your massive, continued, and I have to guess effort'ed ignorance (since we have been talking about this for YEARS and you have made no effort to understand how the process works) is getting on my nerves.
ReplyDeleteHOUSE is making a lot more money for FOX than CHUCK is for NBC. SO NATURALLY IT WILL GET MORE PROMOTION.
So, the next person who says something really frakin' stupid like the above, gets banned for life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111one
So true Magnus. House, even at its low point, which it is at or near right now, is still dominating Chuck in the ratings. Every 30 seconds NBC spends advertising Chuck would probably be better spent pushing their new hit The Voice at this point, as that show is just getting off the ground and still can pick up new viewers off the huge amount of buzz its generated.
ReplyDeleteNow if you want to make a more fair comparison, you could compare the promotion between Chuck and the other similarly rated shows on Mondays- LOLA, Event, Harry's Law. LOLA and Event definitely have gotten more than Chuck. But those shows were just getting off the ground\being relaunched, theyre getting some promotion to get them a chance to get some air beneath their wings.
Chuck has had those chances in the past. It makes more sense to promote new shows that you hope can turn into a positive trend, than it does older shows with a pretty defined negative one.
Funny thing is this post comes off like i hate Chuck, which i dont. Just trying to be realistic.
Oddly enough, all of this snark is cheering me up tonight...
ReplyDeleteI am really really bad at guessing those, but I still love these spoilers. So I mostly just wanted to say thanks for doing this.
ReplyDeleteMy only guess, which is probably bad is:
Volkoff is very childish.
awelle
Please DR bring down the banhammer of death on people who bring up ratings.
ReplyDeleteI don't want ratings in my spoilers!!!!!
Well, since you just brought up ratings.... BANNED FOR LIFE!
ReplyDeleteMind you, some people have been banned for life here a few times and still comment.
Back to making guesses:
ReplyDeleteVolkoff is best solution.
Man begins tour of gym in blue sweatsuit
(Yes! I made a sentence)
Magnus, there are MANY really good reasons why I won't ever be in charge of network programming.
ReplyDeleteI SUCK at being in charge of ANYTHING. LOL.
As for .guesses to the Chuck spoilers..An agent has Vivian defenestrated.
An agent has Morgan depreciated. Morgan is belittled by someone.
An accent has Morgan demonstrated.
ReplyDeleteAn agent has Morgan reprimanded.
An agent who *****n re-intersects.
ReplyDeleteDid we already decide the second word in this sentence is not "agent"? I think everyone is guessing "agent" for that word and Magnus still hasn't revealed it, so maybe that means we're wrong. But I haven't thought of another word yet.
@maryploppins:
ReplyDeleteFor A* ****t I was thinking about "At night" for a while but I didn't get much further with that. Maybe you can?
At night Morgan remonstrates. At night Vivian retaliates.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, if there IS a season 5, I think the writers should say that Team B played a part in killing Osama Bin Laden. ;-D
