Episode was so so nothing special. totally random but i just found out that Breaking In is coming back from a second cancellation in march BRILLIANT!!!!!! I love that show have you seen it DR?
This episode really seemed to drag. I kept spacing out about halfway through and started actively clock watching hoping for the end at 8:45. Thank god for the reveal at the end because nothing seemed to happen in this episode.
The Casey stuff at first was funny but they really didn't deliver on the comedic potential.
Chuck was kind of cute at the very beginning and then got super annoying about 5 minutes later.
I did love Sarah's reaction to the Casey/Gertrude lovin' and Awesome playing Bond.
I liked it better than last week's but it was strangely paced. Maybe a second viewing will help that. Parts of it were very "Chuck" in that the relationship beats fit the show well. But the spy mission was a tad silly. Plus, the whole pregnancy thing seemed like it was two different versions of the script shot and then pieced together in the edit. Just didn't feel complete.
Still, when compared to last week's raping of the canon, I guess it is an improvement. The Jeffster stuff felt unnecessary until the end.
Oh, my favorite moment was the first time Sarah tells Chuck he is "spiraling." Classic.
The relationship stuff with Chuck and Sarah actually talking about having a family was touching, but is there a new rule that Chuck and Sarah can't actually be in bed at the same time? Kinda like in the 50's when couples had single beds?
I thought it a little odd after they showed Sarah having those symptoms that they wouldn't just toss in a line speculating why. Stress or maybe it was the bad pizza?
Lots of cute stuff with Casey and Gertrude. Damn, though, that we never saw him in that banana hammock.
But, the "laugh out loud" moment in the episode was Lester in drag. My god.
For once, I actually enjoyed the B plot more than the A plot. I like how Jeff figured it out. I like the counter-intelligence move of trying to throw him off with Awesome, which led to that hilarious "Lester in drag" scene. When I saw that, I think I spit up my mojito.
Finally, I really like seeing Jeff figure out the subterfuge at the end.
"It's not always easy to trick a mental patient," and he crashes through the wall.
I've never said I want to see where a Jeff/Lester plot is going, but I'm actually saying it now.
Oh, and I forgot to add my favorite scene of the night was the Casey/Alex one at the end. I think they've sort of wasted her in the Alex/Morgan relationship. I much prefer seeing her bond with her father and what that brings out in Casey's character.
"..., but is there a new rule that Chuck and Sarah can't actually be in bed at the same time? Kinda like in the 50's when couples had single beds?"
I kind of expected Chuck to say, that Sarah couldn´t be pregnant, because they never share a bed or anything else for that matter, when he was so adament at denying the possibility to Casey.
It was really delivering the funny for me, but I agree that the stakes were quite low regarding the mission.
I laughed at the Downton Abbey stuff with Casey. I recently watched that show for the first time and was instantly hooked. So, it was funny to see Casey do the same thing.
Also, on my way home I listened to the Ryan and Ryan podcast in which they talked about that show. So timely.
I would say the slightly annoying part of the episode for me was "clueless Chuck" in regards to Sarah.
"I would say the slightly annoying part of the episode for me was "clueless Chuck" in regards to Sarah."
That´s not exactly new, though. Just usually not that blatant.
Sarah looking at Baby names and Casey watching Downton Abbey with his daughter and wanting to introduce her to his girlfriend really showed how much those two changed. Loved all the Sarah/Casey scenes tonight.
I liked it. It didn't blow me away but there were enough funny moments and story stuff to keep me interested. Clueless Chuck was pretty annoying but Sarah made up for it; her face outside the hotel room was priceless, and her rant about the skimpy outfits she's had to wear. Also is it me or was that wall in the Buy More basement even crappier than the fake wall from last week? Way to go Carmichael Industries.
its actually hilarious gertrude and casey have hotter scenes then chuck and sarah they don't even touch each other anymore. Shaw got more play with sarah than chuck the entire season.
The comments about Chuck & Sarah's lack of sex, touching, kissing whatever is kinda getting old. We get it. Every week is the same, final eps ever and that's all people have to talk about every week?
To tell you the truth I don't really know what to think about this episode because I thought it was awesome until the end when jeff broke throw the fake wall. I was really hoping they would never find out. I mean it's not like jeff and lester are going to go on missions now. They are not Morgan or Captain Awesome. They are not part of Team Bartowski. But we will see with the last 5 episodes. Maybe they will explain in the episodes coming up.
The lack of lovin between Chuck and Sarah actually makes sense now......... Because they are married. Kidding aside, I thought it was a solid episode, even better the second time through.
As always with this show , it's about the characters first and foremost . Some really good scenes tonight on that front . But the spy plot was beyond ridiculous . Even for this show . So now apparently the BiG BAD in the final season is going to be an arms dealer ? An arms dealer who makes guns that can't be fired at another with the same gun ? Really ? Or was that just the bad guy in this episode ? If so I must have missed some dialogue at some point .
I hope by the end of the series in a few weeks theres more of an emphasis about Chuck and co. wanting to quit the spy life rather than introducing the bad guy to end all bad guys with 4 eps to go .
Based on the promo, I now see how they changed something with Sarah's story. This one little bit was supposed to happen earlier and have a bigger impact on the story. Now they moved it to a bit later.
Jeff gets taken down with 1 tranq dart . Where as in vs the Anniversary it took 4 lol
Otherwise an enjoyable episode . Maybe a little too much emphasis on the Gertrude/Casey sexy sexy stuff . But not really any big complaints which is nice considering last week .
Magnus, are all the scenes in the promo for next week or are there some scenes in there from later episodes? If the scenes in the promo are all from next weeks episode, then it looks like it will be crazy!
Maybe the part about the guns would have made sense if they were just described as being more accurate with shooting. and it was just a straight up double cross without any explaination about the guns no being able to fire.
I liked that Gertrude was just stringing Casey along on the mission and had no intention of using him on it.
TBH, I just wanted it to end, though the final few mins were worth the wait. I like Moss in the role, just wish she was in better epis.
And we laugh at the Shaw's baby joke, BUT it wouldn't be impossible.. he was alone with her for hours. ;) talk about the ultimate revenge. don't hate me please! :P
Razorback if you don't laugh at me I would say I liked the episode. (I said it about last week's episode and you laughed at me!) I loved Chuck's cafeined mod and when Sarah and chuck's family talk, sarah said "especially not a huge nerd" and chuck's reaction was funny.. I love chuck but I want the episode that more focused on Chuck bartowski... I hope last 4 episodes will be this way!!!
I thought it was a fair to middling episode overall, and I liked a lot of the character stuff. Chuck's cluelessness in the beginning was a little annoying. The plot was completely disposable.
What's with all the L names? Was that just the L section of Sarah's name list, or is she fixated on L's for some reason? Also, I guess Morgan's pizza really was off.
I didn't say that!! I said I liked the episode that's it... Anyway I just want to ask there will be any spoiler or promo or any clue about chuck's final episode for now??? they will promote it just a week before it released???
i don't know about y`all but this episode worked just fine for me and for the second time this season i will rewatch it in the same day(and i will post a more detailed opinion on it)
Unfortunately(for everyone who was not a fan of Morgansect) the next week promo shows us Fedak was not joking when he said Frosted tips will be back.. i just hope it won't get to much focus in the last 4 episodes
I get that the wall this week was supposed to be fake. I just thought that if they were actually concerned about Jeff and Lester finding Castle they would have put a little more effort into the fake wall, or at least let it dry. Or maybe don't position it so that if someone breaks through they are looking directly at your fancy spy conference room. Then again it's Castle: the least secret, least secure; secret, secure spy base.
"Based on the promo, I now see how they changed something with Sarah's story. This one little bit was supposed to happen earlier and have a bigger impact on the story. Now they moved it to a bit later."
I hope you fill us in on what you are referring to when the time is right.
"Or maybe don't position it so that if someone breaks through they are looking directly at your fancy spy conference room."
It wasn't put together to last... plus, it's an in-episode story device used to move the plot forward. You're talking about it like these are real people, or something that happened by accident and the writers were like "Oh, crap! He found it! We should have made the wall more secure!" ;)
I wonder what the ratings are going to be like today. I agree with Ryan McGee from the AVClub in his review; this show pretty much ended with Santa Suit.
Glad the show got a 1.0, but the momentum is gone, IMO, and I felt that way before I read it on the AV Club.
All these episodes now feel pretty much tacked on, still enjoyable overall, though. All the people that are left watching, like myself, are here for the characters and the show we love.
I heard that the show was pre-empted in Oregon by a basketball game. Because the preliminary ratings are "time period" ratings that pick up whatever ran on NBC stations between 8 and 9, it was picking up the basketball game in whatever market it was. The final ratings will take that out. If Chuck didn't run at all, those basketball viewers will be subtracted. If it ran at a later time, how ever many people watched Chuck at that time will replace the basketball viewers. It could drive the final ratings down, but it's impossible to say right now.
I think part of the reason for that "show ended" feeling is that this 13-episode season doesn't appear to have a big arc.
401 to 413 had the Mama B/Volkoff arc that still was in play when we saw 409. This season is choppier. Unless we find that the final bad guy is somehow tied into the rest of the season, there is no hint right now that we are in the middle of an unfinished story.
I know there's another mini-arc is coming because I read everything and they said something in the promo, but it's not apparent onscreen in the episodes.
Based on the ratings pretty much the same people who started the season are still onboard.
I think the "end" feel comes from the fact that the whole season was written with the premise that this is really the end. Maybe they left some backdoors (like not killing Shaw) for the unlikely case of back order, but had this been a high rated show with a good chance for renewal we would have been watching a completely different kind of season.
I got to be honest. While i really said the show ending I cant wait till the series finale. That way i can move on and stop hearing all this ending talk cause to be honest it not helping me get over the ending of this show when it mentioned ever ten seconds and when i watch it I starting to think that this is it.
This episode was Seduction Impossible 2 for me: a good episode, but I think that they wanted to have a light-hearted one before the drama that will come next. And the best moments of the episode have already been pointed out, Sarah's expression was priceless and Lester in drags was just LOL! Now I think that it will be hard to go back to tragedy...
"Based on the promo, I now see how they changed something with Sarah's story. This one little bit was supposed to happen earlier and have a bigger impact on the story. Now they moved it to a bit later."
Does this have something to do with "Sarah's bravest decision yet"? How dangerous would this be? How big a deal is this?
So, with that sneak peek... is the secret out? It certainly would have had a bigger impact had it been brought up earlier in the season, but makes more sense that it's now, given last week's episode.
i wonder what sarah is trying to tell chuck this episode? she said in the sneak peak that he wasn't listening about something
ReplyDeleteShe thinks she could be prengant? Hence the pregnancy test from the promo?
ReplyDeleteAnd it is Shaw's baby?!
ReplyDeleteNow we know what was really frozen at the bottom of that chair.
ReplyDeletePFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletei knew sarah wouldn't be pregnant. you actually have to have sex to get pregnant. BOOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE!!!
ReplyDeleteThey wouldn't make Sarah pregnant before the finale. It would sideline her from the action.
ReplyDeleteBut the series finale is fair game ;)
Flat. Only thing at all interesting was the bit at the end with Jeffster finding the base.
ReplyDeleteEpisode was so so nothing special. totally random but i just found out that Breaking In is coming back from a second cancellation in march BRILLIANT!!!!!! I love that show have you seen it DR?

ReplyDeleteI thought my sense of odd pacing was due to me rewinding a couple of times, but hearing someone else say it makes me agree.
ReplyDeleteLike I say, I enjoyed it. I'm not doing cartwheels. But, it had some nice moments, if it didn't flow just right.

ReplyDelete"But, the "laugh out loud" moment in the episode was Lester in drag. My god."
ReplyDeleteI laughed outloud a couple of times. But yeah, that was insane.
Ward and June Cleaver spent more time in bed together than Chuck and Sarah.
ReplyDeleteWatching it a second time, the episode is working better for me. But the spy mission is still a bit off. The Jeffster stuff is working better.
ReplyDeleteYvonne deserves a Golden Globe, Emmy, Oscar, and SAG award for her performance in the Gertrude/Casey sex scene.
ReplyDelete"..., but is there a new rule that Chuck and Sarah can't actually be in bed at the same time? Kinda like in the 50's when couples had single beds?"

I also liked how Jeff figured the secret out.

I find it more questionable that they could pretty much walk into "highly secured" castle by finding the backdoor in the Buymore. ;)
ReplyDeleteAhhhh, now I get why some people are saying this "The show ended in 5.07" crap, because they read it over at AV Club. Man, what a bunch of sheep.
ReplyDeleteNext week, I'm going to say the show was reborn with 5.10 and see how quickly that spreads. ;)
