Since I am no longer doing spoiler blog postings, I am now going to just do these kinds of postings where you get to read between the lines.
So, what do you think? If they do split up, how would it make sense? Would you be furious? Would you freak out? Would you burn down your living-room? What if it happens due to amnesia? Would that be totally stupid and should be erased right now as the writers are putting it on the whiteboard as we speak?
Comment in the thingy below.
I would torch the studio or alternatively, the next Comic Con.
ReplyDeleteI'm probably the only one, but I would have loved to see them split up — just to see how Zac and Yvonne would play that, and to see how Chuck and Sarah would react. I think it would have been interesting. And the possible scenarios after a break up would have been fun.
ReplyDeleteBut anyway, that's definitely not going to happen. I'm also bad at reading between lines!
Michael, you make a good point. And it might be interesting to see how much of the will-they-won't-they magic of seasons 1 and 2 is retained if one of them has forgotten the other.
ReplyDeleteAnd you are not just bad at reading between the lines... you may be even worse at predicting what will or will not happen. ;)
It would be terrible...The problem with Chuck at this point is budget cuts and uncertainty from NBC has us at a point where not enough characters have been developed so we have to keep dumb storylines like "amnesia" and the Will they/Won't they storyline going when the Will they/Won't they storyline has been resolved several times.....Budget cuts killed the "total package" part of Chuck as a comedy and a action show...NBC still sucks...
ReplyDeleteIs this a joke? No, it wouldn't make sense. Yes, I'd freak out. I wouldn't burn down my living room, because the couch is where I sleep. Amnesia? That's so daytime drama, isn't it? Not to mention lacking in creativity. PLEASE tell me this is a joke.
ReplyDeleteWhy would they do something as stupid as that? I mean, what would they hope to gain? Chuck and Sarah haven't even started their married life yet, and already they want to consider breaking them up. They only have 13 episodes, and the first few don't sound too promising, so why do this? Do Zach and Yvonne not get along at all and require doing scenes with other people, because I don't see the benefit of something this extreme when you are in your final season, and your ratings are already very low.
ReplyDeletethis is possible? please. just say yes or no.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I am not dealing in spoilers anymore so I can't say yes or no... but I can say that I would definitely not say "no" if I was dealing in spoilers.
ReplyDeleteI would probably rather them scrap Season 5 and end with Season 4 than do some "Days of Our Lives"-like storyline haha
ReplyDeletethis is information or you're playing a bit with us?
ReplyDeleteLMAO... you just can't help yourself, can you? I'm thinking more like a work splitting? I mean, it doesn't make sense, after 4 years leading to the amazing and emotional wedding in vs. the cliffhanger to end it in the last season of the show. Anyway... now you don't do spoilers anymore I don't know where am I gonna find them :( maybe you can reconsider, pretty please? October's not coming fast enough.
ReplyDeleteI suppose I could change my mind... hell, I said I would never do Chuckfest3 but...
ReplyDeleteOk,
ReplyDeleteSo this split thing. Will it be permanent? Because I can see them splitting over the Morgan intersect thing, and work issues. Not lasting very long, but that makes sense. But a permanent one? I wouldn't even begin watching S5, because to me the final season would've ended in S4.
IF there is a split, of course it won't be permanent. By the end of the season, Chuck and Sarah will be sunbathing in some foreign country sipping girly drinks and talking about starting a family.
ReplyDeleteThat finale statement is not a spoiler, mind you. I am just stating what should be obvious. This show is about Chuck and Sarah now. It will end with them.
ReplyDeleteHa! This is why I read this. People freak out. Not that I wouldn't enjoy the will they/ won't they magic of S1 and S2, but don't they have a business to run and a Morgan to watch? I mean I'm sure Casey could do that... but I really would like to keep Morgan alive for more than three episodes in season 5...
ReplyDeleteMorgan will definitely be alive for more than 3 episodes.
ReplyDeleteI would burn down the studio, force feed the script to the writer who wrote it..beat the producers who had agree to it, then ride out with Yvonne S. (still dreaming) would be sad if they did, kill reason of marriage, unless it wasnt permanent was due to past enemies,.rival secrets making a rift.
ReplyDeleteQual é aqui no Brasil já estamos bem saturados de novelas mexicanas onde o mocinho perde a memória e se separa da mocinha!vamos lá é Chuck!
ReplyDeleteDo you like what you've seen this season so far? This is not a spoiler
ReplyDelete"splitting up" could be interpreted in any number, which I'm loathe to discuss at the moment because I'm far too sleepy. XD
ReplyDeleteIn any case, assuming that they were split up, I'd probably freak out a bit, but ultimately I won't be that worried. I think it's obvious for the most part how the show will end, so I think we should just sit back, relax and enjoy the last thirteen episodes of the show.
P.S. The thought of S5 having only 13 episodes makes me sad. :(
I must have missed something, because this is the first I've heard of a split. Is there a post somewhere I should have read?
ReplyDeletePersonally, I can't decide which would be more ridiculous - a personal split or Morgan as the intersect. Exploring them trying to run a private spy business is fodder for enough fun. No reason to mess with them more when there are so few episodes left.
Understand that my sources have been put on notice to not tell me anything. But things spill out due to habit of telling me things. So, what little I have heard so far... I have not been crazy excited about. It sounds to me like the writers have run out of steam, or good ideas.
ReplyDeleteHowever, lots of things sounded really good last year and then weren't executed as well as they could have been, so perhaps this season it is the other way around.
Why don't they just have Chuck and Sarah make out for 43 minutes instead of breaking them up? Yvonne had mentioned in one of her interviews that she wanted Chuck and Sarah to have a happy marriage. Making out for 43 minutes is a great way to show how happy they are!! And think of how cost effective it would be!!
ReplyDeletekakau, desfrutar da sua telenovela mexicana chamado Chuck.
ReplyDelete"I must have missed something, because this is the first I've heard of a split"
ReplyDeleteI tend to be the first... and I know you have been reading this site long enough to know that. :)
"Morgan will definitely be alive for more than 3 episodes."
ReplyDeleteNow, THAT is a spoiler! Even if I don't know if everybody will appreciate it... :)
How is that a spoiler? When did anyone suggest he wouldn't live past episode 3?
ReplyDeletedo you know how many chapters have been written so far?
ReplyDeleteI don't know how many they have written but they are usually around episode 4 at this point.
ReplyDeleteThey hammer out stories before they write the scripts. So, things can always change from what makes their ideas list.
ReplyDeletethis post is information that you have? or just guessing?
ReplyDeleteWhen have I ever guessed without saying I am guessing?
ReplyDeleteI guess the amnesia might be a doable story line particularly if it was in relation to Chuck trying to reactivate his Intersect, which would seem to make the most sense. However, that does seem like lazy writing since they could just "poof" him back to normal Chuck whenever and retcon the whole thing. On the upside it might be funny to see Sarah have to explain their relationship history/current life together and remind him of things.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I could see them sort of fighting about or "splitting" over issue wise would be Chuck going out on missions without the Intersect to protect him. Sarah might be more worried about him if her priorities are changing in terms of having a normal, settled life. This also seems kind of lazy though because it would be like an extension of the argument they had in Fear of Death, which was by far one of the worst episodes of the past season.
"The only thing I could see them sort of fighting about or "splitting" over issue wise would be Chuck going out on missions without the Intersect to protect him."
ReplyDeleteI prefer the amnesia angle. Because Sarah splitting up with Chuck over him going on missions is super lame.
Unfortunately from what i saw this past year Magnus is usually right with his spoilers about the show.. but he also has a sick sense of humor :) i remember before the "Balcony" episode he used spoilers like "Drunk, flirty Sarah" "Sarah leaves Chuck for another man" to create a nice buzz :)
ReplyDeleteBut this time it would make sense since in interviews the cast & producer don't use Chuck & Sarah anymore to sell the show to the audience.
If that's the case and they split Chuck & Sarah again it means they are totally running out of ideas and them having only 13 episodes is a good thing.. i only hope they won't screw the show to bad.
Chris Fedak said in one of the interviews at Comic-Con that he didn't have time to do an episode about Sarah's mom and was hopeful to do it this season. They could've taken out Fear of Death and inserted a storyline for finding Sarah's mom instead. And now a split? Why would I even want to come back and watch this season with what I know so far?
ReplyDeleteUsually right? I am ALWAYS right.
ReplyDeleteSee the only problem I have with amnesia is that they won't be able to be friends with benefits if one doesn't remember the other. Otherwise, sure, knock them out, give 'em a concussion!
ReplyDeleteI am actually suprised that fedak would want to spend much time at all on chuck and Sarah this season (positive or negative). This show (I perceive from his interviews) from his point of view is about the mythology (not a love story) the mythology of a boys journey to becoming a hero. I would think that fedak would want to spend a good amount of this season trying to tie up this series loose spy plots over the last 4 years. The starting point should be who this mysterious person or organisation behind everything (hinted to by decker) and move on from there.
ReplyDeleteOk Magnus Almighty i admit it.. since i follow your blog you where never wrong.
ReplyDeleteAlthough i hope somehow now you are wrong.. cause i fail to see the reasons for something like that to happen (that's of course if you don't count private reasons as i saw many assume about the actors)
To me this is total stupidity .. i mean they got one thing that's working for them.. and they kill that too ? how do they imagine they can stay on air for the whole 13 episodes ?
What the heck, if they split them they can at least make Sarah hook`up with Morgan =))
At least that way it will make more sense..
Season5 : Where Morgan gets the intersect and the girl.. Congratulations !
Amnesia and chuck !! They should do it as a cliffhanger in 4x24 instead of morgan with the intersect... I think amnesia works but they should built it logically.
ReplyDelete"Morgan will definitely be alive for more than 3 episodes."
That means Morgan might not be survive end of the season??
Morgan with intersect, Morgan and emotional cases: Pleasee!!! Don't !!!!!!!!
I got bored morgan issues , even season 5 hasn't started yet!!!
The mythology hasn't been interesting since season 2. Sure, they have a few episodes where there is some interesting mythology, but they haven't done a long, serialized mythology arc that seamlessly runs for three or more episodes since season 2.
ReplyDeleteAnd remember, they wrote those first 13 of season 3 thinking that was it. What was the mythology there?
Chucks journey to go from man to spy/hero? I guess....
ReplyDeleteThat's an arc, not a mythology. They have always hinted at a mythos about the Intersect but we have just barely touched it on any real level. And when we have, the "answer" is kind of weak. They tie things together cheaply.
ReplyDeleteYeah....this show is no breaking bad for sure, lol. I cannot put my finger on why the story mythology has failed so much. I mean is it the fact this show could have been cancelled half a dozen times over the last couple of seasons, the lack of meaty dialogues that better shows use as payoff devices (again look at breaking bad...AWESOME!) or is it that fans really only care (including critics (sepinwall and Magee the major offenders)) about chuck and Sarah.
ReplyDeleteBREAKING BAD suffers from many of the same problems as CHUCK, story arc wise. They are constantly pulling it two steps back after moving one step forward. But where they shine is in amazing dialogue. Damn, they write killer dialogue. And that elevates the perceived quality of the overall writing, even though the story writing is not very strong.
ReplyDeleteBreaking bad also suffers from the lead actors problem too. I mean fans of both shows (or a lot of fans) would be happy watching chuck and Sarah or Walter and Jessie all the time and as soon as the show cuts away from them people roll their eyes. In other words the shows find it difficult to balance the b and c plots. Personally I could watch Walter, hank, Jessie, gus and mike and get rid of the rest. Same with chuck, I could take chuck, Sarah and casey and be happy with that.
ReplyDeleteNo doubt... Jessie is the most interesting character. I find Walt interesting but he is also so unlikable that I root against him. Jessie, like Sarah Walker, puts up a brave face but suffers deeply on the inside.
ReplyDeleteYeah both Jessie and Sarah are being pulled along on journey's that could (or in jessie's case does) cause them loads of pain. It is so fascinating to watch and again the other plots just suck, lol. Aaron Paul is an acting galaticos he is showing me layers like Yvonne that I did not think their characters could have. Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteThough, on BREAKING BAD, it will all end badly. Chuck and Sarah will live happily ever after.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah! No doubt, walt and Jessie will most likely die by the end of the series. Chuck and Sarah will be happy, unless chuck is the major death this season, then Sarah will be a broken girl.....
ReplyDeleteI am trying to think why these two great shows suffer this fate. I mean BSG and lost and even the wire had a lot of interesting characters. Quantum leap was designed to only have Sam and al, but yeah both bb and chuck have a couple of awesome characters and then.....intriguing. It must be that the journeys are very much centred on two chaacters.
ReplyDeleteThough, Hank seems like he may end up with an interesting arc. Same with Morgan (even if we don't particularly like it). I disagree that CHUCK suffers when it goes away from Chuck and Sarah. It suffers when it goes away from any of the team-ups that work. Chuck and Sarah; Morgan and Casey; Jeff and Lester. You could actually say that Chuck and anyone, and Morgan and anyone, work well on this show.
ReplyDeleteIf you put Walt and Jessie with anyone else, it isn't as interesting.
4x09 was my one of the favorite episode. Chuck's life was in danger and Sarah rescued him. I would like to see that kind of episodes this season.
ReplyDeleteEllie, Casey, Sarah have a hospital scenes!! Chuck hasn't!!
The strength of Chuck is its relationships, which is why I'm so disappointed in this potential spoiler about a possible split with Chuck and Sarah.
ReplyDeleteI disagree Magnus, Morgan doesn't work with anyone .. i mean they spent 4 years in building and selling the idea of a goof who`s not good at anything and now they want to center the show around him ? it will be like season1 all over again but with a much worst actor as a pivot.
ReplyDeleteSo if they really are going in the direction you are suggesting it will suck in a big way !
I with Zach on Chuck dieing. I think the should kill him off at the end of the show. Also i hoping that since the writers know that their only getting 13 eps it will make for a tighter season. So far though i with most though. Morgan with the intersect is dumb. I hate the fact that anyone can have it in their head now. What was the point of season 3 finale with the flash back to papa b saying you special when anyone can have the dang thing in their head now and they give it to Morgan of all people. The I sorry to say the comic re leaf of the show.
ReplyDelete2 questions :are you really sure that chuck and sarah will have happy ending? and, do you believe that the creators will split chuck and sarah for a while? yes or not.
ReplyDeleteSo you say Sarah doesn't work well with characters other than Chuck? (Shaw being the exception and i'm still confused about the whole thing).
ReplyDeleteBut since Chuck will be is seems so preoccupied with Morgan , maybe they will actually use Sarah screentime and let her interact more with other characters (although season 4 already did few steps in that direction) and actually tell stories that are about her, rather than her relationship with Chuck.
I know they didn't say a lot about Sarah, but Fedak did mention that they have tons in store for her character this season in one of the interviews, whatever that means.
I once saw a documentary about the Australian outback. This wombat kept running headlong into an electric fence. He would get a shock, jump back, pick himself up, shake himself off, and run right back into the fence.
ReplyDeleteClearly, the Chuck fandom is a wombat, and Magnus is its electric fence. I mean, how many times can you freak out over nothing before figuring out that there is nothing to freak out over?
Jim
I seem to be a minority, but I haven't been looking forward to 13 episodes of married Chuck and Sarah. Other than watching the occasional episode of Modern Family, I don't watch "married people" or family shows.
ReplyDeleteSo, bring on a situation where we can watch them split and get back together.
Maybe they give us some sexy sex this time.
"Morgan goes Agent X on Chuck"
ReplyDeleteAnyone else noticed this?
"I disagree Magnus, Morgan doesn't work with anyone "
ReplyDeleteWhat a ridiculous thing to say.
"...I'm so disappointed in this potential spoiler about a possible split with Chuck and Sarah."
ReplyDeleteHow can anyone be disappointed in a potential, possible something about which we know exactly nothing at this point?
There may be amnesia, there may not. There may be a split (of the sort most people seem to be thinking) or not. And any combination of the above may be done well or not.
Jim
If they did that and it wasn't the last season I'm pretty sure I would stop watching , though something tells me it's not gonna happen.
ReplyDeletePs.: RAZORBACK, você precisa mesmo melhorar seu portugues. Eu n faço ideia pq aquela menina comentou em portugues, mas mesmo assim, desista do google translator.
Morgan or should I say Josh Gomez does not have the same presence as zac and I see why people are freaking out. I mean heck even you said (maybe you were joking I am not sure) last year that kristen kreuk was wayyyyy toooio attractive for Josh Gomez. He just does not have the looks, charm, charisma, etc, etc that zac does.....hundreds of fans followed him to subway! (along with Wendy the queen) so I get it, but chill fans, do not freak out. I mean Yvonne has mentioned in a 100 interviews since season 2 that she wants chuck and Sarah to be mr and mrs smith and they are not even listening to her! And she is the most or joint most important actor/character on the show...think how p/o she is! As Magnus always says Ali Adler always says enjoy the show you love!
ReplyDeletesplit ? this sound very, very, very, ridiculous.
ReplyDeletechuck with amnesia or shooting Chuck may be but split Chuck and Sarah is rdiculous!!
ReplyDeleteAnother intersect that chuck downloaded can cause amnesia...
ReplyDeleteBeing rich changes Chuck, He treats bad to everyone...
While Sarah protects Morgan, Sarah and Casey leaves Chuck unprotected and He gets shoot...
He is rescued by his father he goes in to coma but His father comes to hospital...
Chuck spent their money to video games and other stuff Sarah gets angry to Chuck...
Decker can be one of the Chuck's enemy again...
just a thought...
If this is true i hope Sarah hooks up with Morgan since Yvonne and Josh are best buddies on`set now
ReplyDeleteThis way Morgan gets it all, intersect, hot girl...
like RazorBack said before Chuck and Morgan can have good chemistry with any character so giving Morgan the spot light is a good thing This way they can cut from Zachary Levi salary and save budget cause they won't use him as much as they did in the past
Oh I love passive aggressivness! Anonymous, even if that is your real name, is there really any need for this throw the toy at of the pram mentatlity? I think Chris Fedak is just buying time with this minor morgan intersect mini arc... I mean it has been mentioned by fedak in that comic con clip that they are really low on ideas this season, I mean they have to be really low on ideas, lol. So give the guy a break, the way the show gets renewed 3 times a season he has probably blown his load and has not much left to give. I mean that montage at the end of cliffhanger of all chuck and sarah moments was as sepinwall said, the most we think our show is really done this time kind of moment. So I think they will find their feet in the middle of the season and get back on track...I have faith...even if he is a season 3.0 kind of stalling arc...
ReplyDeleteReally, at this point, who cares? The "great" Chuck show ended with Colonel. The budget cuts, the showrunners' unwillingness to rethink the original season 3 arc after Bomer wasn't available, and the general inability to maintain some logic behind the mythology has made the show a rather sad parody of itself since Pink Slip.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing worse? Comic Book Guy trying to stir up controversy at this late date. At this point, I would think even the shippers (crazy, rational, otherwise) can't be bothered anymore.
Zac is paid per episode not by minutes of screen time.
ReplyDeleteThe more I ponder this the more I think the amnesia route is the way to go. It doesn't lay blame on either Chuck or Sarah; the timeline is easily limited (2-3 episode arc); and it's easily retconned. It would be the Season 5 equivalent of Intersect-less Chuck. Also, it would definitely be potentially funny/interesting if the amnesia is only partial, for example if Chuck only forgets the last 5 years? He'd esentially be pre-season 1, pre-Intersect Chuck and I think he'd be blown away by what his life is like now. It seems like it would fit with their back to basics theme too.
ReplyDeleteHmm ... I will most likely get banned for eternity though I have to ask ...
ReplyDeleteMagnus, have you been browsing fanfiction.net or something? ;)
Oh GOD or worse have you insider information that the writers did?! :O
"Morgan goes Agent X on Chuck"
ReplyDeleteIs Morgan going to be the one with his brain scrambled? Or amnesia...or whatever.
Ugh, judging just by the things you've said and what has been said by Fedak, this season is shaping up to be spectacularly lackluster. They better at least bring the funny.
With only 13 EP. are no time to make big nonsense.
ReplyDeleteYou mean like in season 3? Or 4? They thought they only had 13 episodes going into those. They still tossed in some nonsense.
ReplyDeleteI suggest you all expect the worst season ever... and then you might be surprised when it isn't the worst thing you have ever seen.
Mark Hamill with a French accent? Are you kidding me?
It's beginning to sound like "Chuck: The Lost Tales", where "Lost Tales" = "Stories we're pulling out of the drawer because we told all the good ones already".
ReplyDeleteI think this isn't going to be as disappointing as Babylon 5, Season 5 because I've been through that already and know what happens when you produce more episodes after you've pretty much told the main story.
Aside from Chuck and Sarah possibly splitting up due to amnesia, which just sounds bizarre, I can't help noticing the "Morgan goes Agent X" tag. I really hope that's not where this Morgansect story is going.
ReplyDeleteLatest Chris Fedak quote:
ReplyDelete“There’s something we’re working on right now that I think is going to make people’s brains explode. I hope they really dig it. It has to do with Sarah and Chuck.”
Connected?
Dun, dun, dun!
ReplyDeleteI HOPE they do give amnesia to someone. Actually, there are two options. Chuck or Sarah. I would actually vote for Sarah to be the one with amnesia. Imagine a pre-Chuck BAMF Sarah waking up, asking for Bryce, then finding out she is married, out of the CIA and friends with the "burnout" John Casey? And married to a semi-nerd.(Cute and intellegent, but a nerd none the less)...lol I think that has the best comedy gold for an amnesia storyline...I like Chuck and Sarah, but I admit that the story lost alot of its appeal when they got together.I find them kind of boring. And to tell you the truth, I and my husband both hate that the characters of Sarah and Casey have become shells of the BAMF's that they were.Sarah is now girly...ewww John talks about his feelings alittle anyway...ewww Just because they have friends and got married does not mean they have to change thier personalities.Maybe thats just me, but they both have been nutured/spayed...lol
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure everyone changes once they learn to love.
ReplyDeleteAwwwww...Ok, I think I threw up alittle on that one...lol
ReplyDeleteSo sad. You actually think you have credible information on Chuck? Amnesia is the worst possible direction they could go in, not just because Yvonne and Zach have amazing chemistry but also it wouldn't take the storyline any further. Now, I'm a huge fan, and if it were up to me, I would the show would go on forever. Ans season 5 seems to be picking up for the last 2 episodes.
ReplyDeleteYeah, why would anyone think I would ever have credible information about CHUCK? I mean, other than 3-years worth of proving it.
ReplyDelete
