#WeHeartChuck #1 Trending Topic On Twitter!

We finally did it!  NBC's Chuck finally made it to #1 and it all started with a handful of dedicated nutjob fans going for broke early in the morning.  And hours later, it was still in the top 3.  What a great day.

Special thanks go to Ihsan who really kicked this baby in the butt and made it happen.  It is true what I have said many times, all it takes is a few dedicated fans to rule the Internet. :)

Evidence of our success below:

Now, perhaps we can stop talking about our hashtags being blocked or deleted and realize that it takes EFFORT to trend. :)

UPDATE: #WeHeartChuck retook 1st place and Chuck took 6th around 11:20AM:

Dear DR - The Solution to the World's Problems is Fan Fics?

Since my last "Dear DR" I have had some interesting responses.  Some of them have been glowing (I am already dating four potential supermodels because of it --3 short brunettes and a hot blond with abandonment issues, just like my man Chuck), but some have been rather harsh.  In this latest posting, I will detail the path of most resistance from the crazy shipper universe:

Crazy Shippers, Fakers and Fan Fic writers.

Question: Hey, DR!  I think you are way too hard on what you call "crazy shippers" and I also think you give the writers on Chuck way too much credit.  I actually think most of the fan fictions about Chuck and Sarah are far better than anything in season 2.  As Shakespeare said: "And oftentimes excusing of a fault doth make the fault the worse by the excuse." -- Anonymoose

Answer: Are you delusional?  Or just completely incapable of comprehending art?  I would sooner snuggle up with a crazy shipper and nuzzle its neck, even spoon the evil creature before I would as much as hold hands with 95% of Chuck and Sarah fan fic writers!  You know how many Chuck and Sarah fan fic writers have a chance to become professional writers, working in Hollywood?  MAYBE two.  And one of them is not you.

Seriously, it needs to be said: the measure of a good writer is not in the ability to quote Shakespeare, or to Google Billy and his musings, but in actually being able to construct BELIEVABLE characters and situations within the confines of the medium in which you are creating.  If not that, then you should at least be able to understand the established characters while creating within their world.  Why is it that most fan fic writers think Chuck is some romantic dynamo and Sarah has a 12-year old teenage girl bubbling up inside of her with dreams of romantic interludes with Chuck's doppelganger, Fabio?

Question: I have read several people say things like "Sarah wanted to be with Cole (in Beefcake/Lethal Weapon) and would have fallen in love with him if not for..."  What is wrong with these people?  Seriously?!  Are they idiots?  Do they not understand the show?  How could anyone think that Sarah was falling for Cole?  She was clearly in love with Chuck and when Cole kissed her, she did not immediately jump into bed with him.  She was just vulnerable in a moment when Chuck had seemingly abandoned her again. -- Moeped

Answer: Moeped, no amount of pointing out the obvious to these people will change their mind.  The sad fact of life is that many people are just not that bright and they surround themselves with people just as dumb or dumber than themselves.  Then, these nutbags get together and convince each other their moronic definition of that plot is accurate... even though it is so completely off mark.  You can point out every tiny instance within the plot that reveals the intent (and success of that intent) by the writers, but these people will REFUSE to see it.  They have already spent many months, even years, discussing just how it is the way they demand it is, and no amount of facts or solid analysis of those events that reveals the plain and simple truth of the plot will penetrate their mental midgetry.

Question (continued): By the way, I actually HATE the will-they-won't-they element of the show, but I hate the stupidity of many of those who agree with me more.  I do think the show would work well with Chuck and Sarah together and I hope the writers realize that they have maybe one more split-them-up left in the can before we simply stop caring. --Moeped

Answer: I am right there with you.  I am not a fan of keeping them apart just to put them together in 6 episodes and then split them apart.  It is a tired bit and I don't agree with what some on the show have said that it is what keeps fans around.  However, most of the people who feel as I do, who post on the Internet, feel the need to use hyperbole and complete and utter idiocy to promote that belief.  So, I am slowly being motivated to agree with the writers if for no other reason than to see the people who make being a fan of this show an effort, MISERABLE.

Question: I am so tired of these crazy shippers whining about JJ and his spy show being this and that and how THE OFFICE was able to put their leads together and make it work.  It took the office like 6 years for the couple to marry....what the hell is wrong with you people?!  I picture these crazy shippers all with baby bodies lying in a play pen together with binkys in their mouths and adult heads. -- JsisK

Answer: I actually laughed out-loud and then rolled on the floor laughing while also performing a quasi-break-dancing move.  Bravo.  That image will be with me forever now as I read the ramblings of adult-children who have story analytical skills that could be bested by an untrained monkey missing one side of its brain.  No offense to crippled monkeys.  I hold you all in the highest regard.  Or at least in a higher regard than any crazy shipper.

Question: I like to pretend I am an anti-shipper and then, when it suits my interest for attention, I switch ideologies.  So, why do you call me a troll and ban my comments? -Jem4MoPillsJ

Answer: I let you post your question.  You should feel honored.  Now, get back on the meds before they lock you up again, troll.

P.S.

Chuck is coming back early?!  Could it be?!  We should know next week... I hope.

Zac's Birthday Madness and Chuck Me Mondays

First of all, it was a fun and successful birthday bash for Zachary Levi all around.  First of all, We Heart Chuck has now raised nearly $21,000 in the name of Chuck Bartowski, helped by the recent birthday donations for Zac's birthday.  We also trended #HappyBDZacLevi (sure, a day late) in honor of our guy.  So, congratulations to everyone involved!

We Heart Chuck has a lot planned down the line so check the site out often to see what you can do to help.

ALSO, Zac posted a thank you and more names of those who contributed.

As for Chuck Me Mondays, this coming Monday we will watch:

9PM ET / 8PM CT / 7PM MT / 6PM PT

Chuck Versus Tom Sawyer

Our new hashtag for now and likely until the show returns is:

#WeHeartChuck

We are returning to the use of a hashtag due to popular demand.  We are using this one to help promote the charity effort.  So, push it to the world on any day and any night or morning... trend it whenever it pleases you or you have 20 friends on at 3AM. ;)

Finally, Chuck You Tuesday episode 11 is out!  This is the first episode analysis of season 2 (episodes 1 - 4).  You can click on the links in the sidebar or you can click on the banner for it above... or just CLICK ME!

Dear DR - September 17th, 2009

Since the last "Dear DR" was so popular, I am of course prepared for another!  So, here we go:

DR, if you know something about season 3 that would calm the shippers down, then why not share it? -- Your Mother

First, it is really weird when you call me DR.  Second, what makes you think I know something about season 3?  Third, even if I did know something about season 3, the stuff I might possibly know is not going to calm down the shippers at all.  If anything, it is going to drive them insane!  I mean, they are imagining Chuck and Sarah having love interests that likely don't go anywhere but still keep Chuck and Sarah apart.  They have NO CLUE just how inaccurate that belief... never mind.  I should stop now.

Not to mention that Sarah ends up not tru... agh! Sheesh.

Ok!  Ok!  Stop right there!  Wait!  WHAT?!  You are saying Chuck and Sarah end up with other people and not only that but Sarah ends up not trusting Chuck!  THIS IS THE WORST SEASON EVER! -- Crazy Shipper About To Lose His... Ship

Woah!  Woah!  I never said any of those things!!!

I implied them.

I quit the show!  I frakin' quit the show!  That is frakin' it!  I can't believe we SAVED the show and our reward is the worst Chuck and Sarah news ever!  This sucks! -- New Supernatural Shipper

That is probably the best idea you ever had.

P.S.

Dean and Sam ARE brothers and it is just wrong to ship them!

Please, DR!  Please tell me that something good happens between Chuck and Sarah!  Why would  the writers do this after all we have complained to them about?  Is this like an eff-yew to us for annoying them? -- Gilligan

Well, after Bryce is finally killed for real.... oh wait, that was the original plot.  Never mind.

I will just say this: if you stick it out and enjoy the show and get your friends into it and STOP BADMOUTHING THE SHOW, I promise you that season 4 will be like royalty and birds.

Royalty and birds?!  Why are you playing mind games, dammit?! -- Crazy Shipper #467

Maybe I just don't know anything and am messing with you.  Or, I am just not willing to publicly leak the whole season to the world.  I don't think the people on the show would appreciate that.

I knew you didn't know anything! -- Alex aka Mamma's Boy

We shall see in 6 months. ;)

Or, if http://www.weheartchuck.com/ reaches $25,000 by Zac's birthday (the 29th of this month), I promise to tell you all a lot more. :)

Chuck Me Mondays Strategy for September 21st = No Change!

Everyone did a great job last night using We Heart Chuck as the new term.  We tweeted the term over 1,400 times even though some did not even have the episode (come on, NBC & WB).  We did not have much of a chance to trend last night as Parick Swayze's passing dominated the trending list (RIP & Red Dawn ruled!).

It will be interesting to see what happens from here on in as shows come back next week and will likely dominate the trending list.  If, for whatever reason, we cannot continue to trend the topic (well, we certainly can if everyone joins in), then I have a backup plan ready to be sprung. ;)

As the title of this posting says, there will be no changes next week.  We will continue to use We Heart Chuck in our tweets.  However, the following week I am hoping we can get as many people as possible to join in to wish Zachary Levi a happy birthday.  His birthday is on the 29th so we may have to return to the scene of the crime the following day to try and get our favorite guy a nice birthday gift.

Speaking of birthday gifts, http://www.weheartchuck.com/ is rolling along strong in its reboot efforts to raise money for the American Heart Association in the name of Chuck Bartowski, closing in on $20,000 in total.  The current campaign will take your donation and allow you to send a birthday card to Zac!  You can give as little as $5 (the cost of the card) but more is always good as well.  His publicist has indicated that Zac will read every card he is sent, so get involved now so he gets your card on time.

Chuck Me Mondays Sept. 14th until March 1st STRATEGY

First! NO HASHTAG for September 14th. Instead, we will type out  We Heart Chuck as three separate words, in honor of the American Heart Association fund raising effort by the campaign of the same name.  That is right, absolutely NO HASHTAG for this week.  It is time we test to see if we can trend common words as opposed to hashtags.  Might as well start now.  So, your tweets could look like:

Chuck and Sarah are so cute together in this episode! We Heart Chuck

Second, we may be changing terms every week.  So, check back here every Tuesday or Wednesday for the new strategy.

Third, now for the strategy:

Based on the poll, the majority want to continue into Season 2 of CHUCK in order.  So, we will do that.  However, since there are some people who can't find it in their wallet to spend $2 to $3 a week on CHUCK (I spend more than that a day on tea), I am going to offer up alternate strategies for them.

MAIN STRATEGY

We watch Season 2 in order from First Date to Ring.  You can purchase the episodes via iTunes, Amazon, Playstation Network, and XBOX Live or find some other method I don't want to know about (well, not publicly at least).

AMAZON - $1.99 per SD episode; $35.02 for the whole season (savings of $8.76)

AMAZON - $2.99 per HD episode; $52.62 for the whole season (savings of $13.16)

iTunes - $1.99 per SD episode; $39.99 for the whole season (savings of $3.79)

iTunes - $2.99 per HD episode; $59.99 for the whole season (savings of $5.79)

Playstation Network - $1.99 per SD episode; no full season price offered; no HD offered (no link either)

XBox Live - 160 points = $2.00 per SD episode; no full season price offered; no HD offered

ALTERNATE STRATEGY #1
Watch any random episode from the second half of Season 2 on NBC.com, selected from Third Dimension to Ring.  Fans will watch at the same time as the main strategy group and tweet as normal.  You will likely annoy the rest of us with your tweets about Best Friend and Colonel every week, but whatever.  If you can't afford the episodes, or find some other way of acquiring them (I told you!  I DON'T WANT TO KNOW!), then this is at least a way that you can join us and help the trending. :)

Alternate Strategy #2
Watch Season 1 over again.  I don't care in what order.  Just tweet like a maniac.

There you go.  I do not recommend buying the entire season yet, unless you really want to own it now.  NBC and WB might have the correct order of episodes coming for online viewing (looks like NBC's license for the second half runs out on the 20th of this month).
